Since Southeast Asia was first settled, the Malaysians had lacked organized religion. Cities had patron gods, but there was no unifying power, and the various tribes and warred. Until the state of Malaysia united and took over the various tribes by force. The mix of beliefs lasted for a while, but as the nation became more settled and cosmopolitan, factions began to bicker again. King Ijail would not let his nation fall apart into the primitive state it had been brief centuries ago. But he was powerless to unite the myriad local beliefs into one standard religion. Only one man could bring the people of Malaysia together. He was a traveller from Kuala Lumpur named Karzil. When he drank from a spring in the jungle highlands east of the capital, he fell into a trance. In his dream, he learned the great secret of the cosmos. He learned that everything that existed was part of a holy balance between three forces: power, emotion, and knowlege. All that was balanced was watched over by an almighty omniscience. It worked constantly to create and maintain the balance against the innumerable forces of chaos. Thoughts balanced people, people balanced nations, and nations balanced the world. Things could never disappear, only change or reappear somewhere else. If a tree is cut down, it will return as a sapling. When a human dies, he or she shall return, in some form or another. The balance must be maintained, or anarchy would rule the universe.
Karzil's discovery instantly pruified his soul, and he awoke with a great mission to fulfill. He travelled over all of Malaysia's lands, and also into Siam, Nihonese Pacific holdings, and even to the land of the Papuans preaching his holy vision. At first he was greeted with fury from the many religious leaders, all claiming his beliefs to be mortal sin. Karzil claimed that he would be proven true, no matter what the religious leaders did, for if they fought him, they would be as the forces of chaos and be destroyed, but if they joined, the balance of Malaysia and the world, would be assured.
The priests rejected Karzil's beliefs again, and summoned an army of 500 young men from their primitive faiths. They surrounded Karzil, but he would not repent what he had said. At the last moment, as the countless swords and spears jabbed at him, he rose into the air, where the voice of the omniscience spoke through him.
"YOU HAVE BROKEN THE BALANCE." boomed the voice, "NOW, YOUR DESTRUCTIONS WILL REPAIR IT."
As Karzil rose into the air, the sound of the holy voice purified the souls of the soldiers and they dropped their swords. But the priests were not subdued. They drew their own swords and attacked their formerly loyal soldiers, but could not harm them. As the priests hacked away at their impervious soldiers, a great wave rushed over them, killing them but leaving the soldiers unharmed. The great wave passed over the city, leaving everything untouched but the churches, which crumbled. Out of their rubble sprang great three-sided jade-walled temples, each side representing one third of the balance. In the center of the largest temple stood a golden pillar, covered with scriptures. One man touched it, and the purity of the omniscience reached him. He became the first 'Speaker', the person who would channel the omniscience to speak to the masses.
The belief in the balance, called Balism, spread rapidly over Malaysia. It is now beginning to be taught in Malaysia's nearby neighbours. Balism is now one of the fastest-growing religions on earth.
