StKNES5: A New Lease on NES

From Caribbean Empire
To Iroquois
people of the Great Lands, we beg of you to stop this bloodshed, we know that it was the people of New Illinios that attacked you but this war must stop somewhere, will you also halt any retaliation?

To New Illinios
this is great news and we thank you for agree to trade and stopping the violence against the Iroquois people, our condolences to those lost in the Aztec attack

OOC:
Kentharu: I forgot in the update story to write about that. On stats you get +1 Economy Level, OK?
Toteone: I meant to say -8 Triremes and -8 Galleons. That's why you have no navy now.
Israelite: You can't expand that province any more. If you look at the map, you will see that the land immediately west of your African holdings is not uninhabited - there is Egypt in the far north (as you know), Nubia south of Egypt, further south is Ethiopia, and the south of that is the empire of Zaire. If you want to expand westward, it means that you basically want to wage war on them to expand your provinces. There was no mistake on my part.

IC:
From Rome
To Israel:
If we give up the Northern Dalmatian Province that calls itself the "Zagreb Republic", then we expect you to also give up Dubrovnik and the portion of Dalmatia that you yourself control.

From Austria
To Israel:
Though we are interested by your faith and more people are also flocking to it, we the imperial dynasty currently will not convert. We feel that our duty is to represent the Austrians, most of whom remain with the traditional Germanic belief systems.

From Byzantium
To Eire:
We barely avoided war not so long ago. Must you start trouble again?

From Zagreb Republic
To Eire:
The only territory we claim is the northern territory that was taken by Rome. Though we don't like our southern brothers under the Byzantine yoke, we will not wage war on them and risk triggering further Byzantine repression of the southern Dalmatians.

From Portugal
To Eire:
No. The Balearic and Sardinian islands were not restored to our rightful rule only to be taken away again by someone else, even if it is our ally.

From Nihon
To Malaysia:
Fine then. Welcome to hell. Just know that our offer will still stand throughout the duration of the war, so you can agree to our treaty at any time.

From Philippine Republic
To Malaysia and Vietnam:
We want the Vietnamese-occupied Philippine Islands. The Malaysian colonies in the island chains east of us are of no concern to our people.

From Iroquois
To Caribbean Empire:
The blood of our people that were massacred cries out for vengeance. But we will not stoop down to the barbarism that the New Illini "High Saints" have.

From Iroquois
To New Illinois:
We will only agree to a peace at pre-war borders. Nothing more, nothing less.

To Iroquios: Pre-war borders it is then... but do not forget, we were forced to this treaty by the Carribeans. When the tides of time have swept them away we shall once again fight to the death.

From Eire
To Zagreb Republic
So be it.

To Portugal
We respect your decision and will not pursue further

To Byzantine
Funny, we don't recall sending any messengers or diplomats to you.

From Caribbean Empire
to Iroquois
please accept a gift of 1 econ point for you losses, we know it is not much but it all we can spare

ooc so thats 3 econ points gifted out leaving 2 points right?

To Austrian Habsburgs
From Israel
The Wise King understands you rposition and will not pursue it at the present time. May you have the blessing of the Lord forever and ever. L'Chaim!

To Rome
From Israel
The King and Knesset must remind you that we have earned our right to rule in Dalmatia. We have earned the right by treating the people their as full equals, giving them rights and privileges that any Israelite citizen deserves. You, on the other hand, have done none of these things in Zagreb. You have blatantly opressed them and made them second class citizens in your empire. All we ask is that you give them the right to independence and self rule. Also know that you will have no need to fear having a new enemy, since they will join the Jerusalem Defense Pact. Think this over carefully, for you do not want to know what repercusions may occur. L'Shalom!

OOC: Kamilian- I had ordered the enlargement of Lower Lybia BEFORE the land around me was taken. I had explicitly stated that they were to move as fast as possible so as to beat the other nations around me.

The recent, failed, espedition against Afridis had proved something to the Wise King, Israel coudl no longer aford to have its navy split in two. But what could be done about it? This was when Solomon flashed back to a conversation he had had with the Queen o fSheba some time ago. She had spoken of an artificial river, a canal, that the Pharoes had built to connect the Nile and the Sea of Reeds (OOC: This is the ancient name for the Red Sea). This way they coudl sail from the Mediterranean to the Sea of Reeds without ever entering into the vast Atlantic. Though the canal was quickly abandoned and never served much good, Solomon the Wise knew that such an endeavor could possibly replicated, in better construction, in Israel. This grand canal would be called the Negev Canal and would span from the Mediterranean to the Sea of Reeds almost along the Egyptian border, where the two seas are closest. A grand endeavor, for a grand king.
PROJECT: Negev Canal (creates water-way connecting teh Mediterranead and Red Seas running approximately along the Egyptian border where the 2 seas are closest, +1,000 people [Jewish imigrants from other countries who come for work])

6. Have 1/3 of navy explore along Indian coast and then on to Southeast Asia

OOC:
Israelite: Well you have to consider the fact that a) even with administraiton restructuring to make communicating expansion orders easier, that area is still pretty far from your homeland, and it's not extremely close to your Somalian holdings as well. The Zairians, Malagasians, and Ethiopians are already there, it's their backyard, so to speak, so they know more about the area, and have troops and settlers nearby ready to annex the non-claimed areas.
So even if you get your troops and settlers prepared to basically bum-rush the area, it's very realistically possible that the regional powers that are closer will have already taken it by the time your settlers get there.
Kentharu: Correct.

IC:
From Rome
To Israel:
Our soldiers' blood was spilled trying to pacify the beastly Kingdom of Dalmatia and make the region civilized. And you say we haven't earned the right to rule over our domain?
We will not give Zagreb any independence or autonomy at all. They will be a part of the Roman Empire, whether they like it or not.

From Byzantium
To Eire:
You again tried to meddle in our affairs, so you did address us, even if indirectly.
What would you tell us if we said that the holdings in the northern peninsula inhabited by the people called the Goths and Norwegians don't really belong to you and should be given to those two nations? Surely you would tell us to butt out.

From Iroquois
To New Illinois:
Some day you will rue the day you mercilessly slaughtered our peoples.
But for now, peace at pre-war borders.
And we, too, await eagerly the day when the world will hear the name "New Illinois" and ask "Who was that? Some barbarians?"

From Iroquois
To Caribbean Empire:
We thank you for your payment, though it is not you who owes any debts to us.
But see how the New Illini speak of you?
To Iroquios: Pre-war borders it is then... but do not forget, we were forced to this treaty by the Carribeans. When the tides of time have swept them away we shall once again fight to the death.
This phrase alone tells volumes about what they think of their friends and allies.

From Eire
To Byzantium
Did we address the rulers of Byzantium? No. We addressed the people of Dalmatia, the people that are supressed by you. We will meddle where meddling need be. And should you ever feel that lands we posess do not belong to us, even though we have not snatched them from a soverign nation, than you may meddle as much as you like though it would lead to sour circumstances.

To Israel
As word travels fast of grand endeavours, we have already heard of your undertaking to unite the Mediterranean and Sea of Reeds. Our scholars have investigated into this, and are curious how you plan to excavate so much soil from the earth, it would take centuries through the power of man. As well, how do you plan to make this waterway deeper than 3 feet? Though we hope you do suceed in your undertaking, we are quite curious as to how you will accomplish it and keep it from closing over time.

To Eire
From Israel
As regards your concerns unto the Negev Canal, the Wise King feels he must enlighten you. Israel has learned much on the subject of construction in recent years do to the work on the Temple. Is it not true, as the Queen of Sheba has told me, that the Pharoes once built a canal through the harsh Eastern Desert to connect the Nile and Sea of Reeds? If they, with so many less people than Israel now has, could construct a canal through a much harsher desert than that of the Negev, we can't we construct ours. It is true that we will need the guidance and direction of the G-d of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, but it will be completed. Also, please note that any diplomatic negotiations conducted out in the open are fair game for everyone. When you sent word to the noble Republic of Zagreb, you may as well have shouted it from atop one of the many mountainous lands that dot what you call Scotland. We ask that for now you stay out of the affairs of the Mediterranean. Finally, we request that you lift your senseless ban on Jews in your country. The Balearic War is over and there is no need for you to maintain such measures against us. But, do as you wish. L'Chaim!

OOC: Kamilian- OK, I see what you mean. But, could you tell me how long my project will take?

From Pashtun Empire
To Israel:
By the way, you still owe us four points, not three.

OOC: You will see in the update, as always is the case with wonders.

From Eire
To Israel
But did you construct this temple in the water? As you have already said, the Egyptians abandoned there canal, perhaps this is a sign that our world is not ready for a structure such as this. Continue with this undertaking, but you have been advised by the wisest of the world to reconsider.

OOC: I don't see how it would be at all possible for you to construct a canal in the ancient world without the use of cranes. Even if you did dig the canal out in the middle first (away from the mediterranean and red seas), when you opened the canal up to the seas the workers would have a rather difficult task making the it deep enough for a ship of 4 or more feet in depth below water level to pass. Over time the canal would either grow wider from erosion, or it would grow narrower and shallower from sediment. And lastly, anyone wishing to cross the Egyptian-Israeli border would have to take a ship just to cross it as a bridge would inhibit ships from passing.

tommy toon: The Egyptians, in actuality, did build a canal conecting the Red sea and the Nile. The canal was quite succesful until trade situations changed and there was no need for the canal. Also, whoever said that I didn't want to build a barrier between me and Africa? Rather than building a canal and a wall, which I may eventually do anyway, I am killing two birds with one stone.

Kamilian- 4. Send 2 eco to Pashtun
That is a copy and paste from my orders for the last turn. The agreement was that I woudl give the equivalent of 1 turn of eco points, 5, to Pashtun over a 2 turn period. I already sent them 2, as agreed, and now have only to send them 3.

I have no problems with your independence, as long as you remain neutral in this conflict. But in the end, it is Vietnam's decision.

From Caribbean Empire
to Iroqious
all we wish for is peace, and no cost is to great for peace, do you not agree?
we would also like to trade with you great nation if that is possible, we of course will provide protection for the trade vessels also if you cannot

ooc am i to far from the iroqious to trade with them? and when do i get trade bonuses, you said it was every 3 turns and 3 turns have passed since i have had trade with the Aztecs

if, when you say in diplomacy to start trade but only ONE of the players includes it in their orders, then the trade doesn't begin. that's what happened here. one didn't have it in orders, so no trade began

From Iroquois
To Caribbean Empire:
We agree to trade.

From Vietnam
To Philippine Republic:
We will cede the islands to you and give you your independence.

Update said:
Strangely, though they have not addressed the grievances of the northern tribes of their own Empire, the Aztecs have stirred trouble in the north with countries north of them. Aztec Triremes were seen attacking the port of Roanoke, New Illinois. The New Illini fleet, never having been even moderately large, was easily destroyed. Right after completing their destructive missions, the attacking ships sailed away into the night, presumably to commence the journey back home.
NEW ILLINOIS: -8 Triremes

Ummm... this isn't from my orders. I didn't even have contact with New Illinois that I was aware of...

CORRESPONDENCE FROM AZTEC EMPIRE:

TO: New Illinois

We are currently investigating these attacks upon your ships. Our Sea Captains were not authorized any action of this sort. Please accept our apologies and a gift of 10 Triremes if you will have them.

TO: All New Republics Springing Up in the North

The Emperor has agreed to recognize your sovereignity, with the assurance of a mutual peace between our peoples. Perhaps, in time, trade may be established.

hey Kamilian, you need to dup some of your messeges cause i can't send you my orders (i forgot to add stats in!)
