(I wasn't saying you were defiling anything or demanding a change; I just disagreed with the start and opted to mention my discomfort with the lack of a grey zone. I'm fine with it either way really, since it's a game. Same thing goes for sci-fi, fantasy gods and all that. It's hardly possible to defile anything in a game.

perhaps you thought it was diplo. since it's addressed to 'the people of Illinois' I as the leader of Illinois still consider my people to be Illini just as much as Old Illini. The name ''New' Illini' is simply in order to differentiate between our; according to the Old Illini: brotherly tribes.
As the leader of the 'New' Illini I do not consider my 9/14 of the Illini tribes to be anything more or less then normal Illini tribes. There is no 'Old' and 'New' Illini in my mindset. Only Illini who left to kick ass and Illini who stayed behind. What my people thinks might be different thing of course.

And huuray on the success of our people and our project... I should probably put this in a story instead.

(That's a total of 1 eco. of tribute/-compensation + 2 eco. for the Iroqouis: you're getting a major population boost here, for a total of 3 eco. point - wow, that's a lot of money... but it should be worth it if there's a good number of them left. Not to mention the treaty. I'll be obligated to defend you if mr. Aztec gets to be more aggressive then he is right now... although currently he IS bogged down with thrifty Mayans.)

PS. Are you sending an escort? I'd recommend it; I certainly don't have the adequate number of ships to ensure the safety of your transports. Hmmpff, not that I'd offer free escort for THIS kind of cargo. Then again you have been the only pirate in the area so they should be safe unless the Mayans or Aztecs are pitching it about in our waters.

They'll be yours soon to deal with but remember to assimilate them (or at least integrate them) or I will be very unhappy as a new Iroquois society would negate much of the purpose behind my actions for the last 10+ rounds.

Have the people of Western Papua not suffered enough!? They speak the truth in saying that our actions are hypocritical. Why you would even desire to have that small piece of land that doesn't wish for foreign rule is inexplicable. If you need a fair vote, we have a solution. Bring together the entire population of Western Papua who cares about this issue together in a clearing outside of the capital. Have those who support independence walk into town. Have those who wish to become part of the GDC to remain.

True, this system will cause some problems, primarily the alienation between the two groups. But if the election results are as accurate as we believe them to be, this problem will be minimal.

GDC, we don't want a war any more than you do. But should you take this nation by force, we will defend it. At very least allow a vote to take place.

Story
In the gritty highlands of New Illinois a new breed of warriors were being raised, as usual. The Illini leadership had realized that not only was there a necessity to field a strong army for foreign wars of vegeance and bloodletting but a permanent defence force must also be established to ward of foreign interference and oppertunism in times of trouble.

History was full of examples of nations, clans, empires and tribes who had let down their borderguards to rush to the defence of their people or something more illustrious; a rightous cause!

The Aztecs had once been attacked to the north when they fought the Mayans to the south, but the mighty Illini people had no need for a foreign example of history. Once upon a time the Iroqouis fiends had existed to the east of the Illini borders. The stench of their offerings to the many small gods of the Great Lakes and had disgusted the God of the Great Lake and his Children. They had not recognized the Godfather, heralder of all things wise, good, brave and strong. The wise men and soothsayers had travelled to their lands to warn them of their impending doom but they had refused to listen! Aye, at one time they had even booted out the high folk saying that their own gods were just as good as anything else.

And then we attacked; slaughtering any and every one of their filthy men, women and children we hoped to teach them a lesson. It was well imparted and they did not attempt a counter offensive.
However the Sioux had promptly seized our holy grounds, territories imparted to us from the God of the Lakes and His Children. Today we must once again impart military to expand to the northeast, southwest and to aid our friends to the southwest. We remember now a lesson that has led to the culmnination of a new warrior branch in the Illini military.

These men, loving of their nation would be volounteers, and every now and then good people who had to serve for an hour or two a week for the safety. They would get favors in their society; mainly dibs on new land. Iroqouis valuables had been seized by the state (am I getting those 4 eco. points?) and Illini High Saints as rewards.

It was GOOD to be Illini! Life was rarely pleasurable now that the limits had been hacked to pieces, those disgusting Iroqouis with their confederacy and their Ontarians.

Emperor Itzamec II surveyed the grand city of Tenochtitlan. Over the centuries it had grown massive, spreading beyond the wildest dreams of its creators. Marvelous stone walkways led to the great step pyramids of the gods, and above them all, the Shrine of Quetzalcoatl. Now, erected in the Public Square was a new monument, a tribute to the Eagle Warriors who now comprised almost half the standing army. Brave and heroic troops, they were, bringing victory on the front lines for the glory of the Aztec Empire.

"Emperor, it is time," a voice came from behind Itzamec II.

The Emperor turned to face his cultural advisor, Mecoatl. "Is it? Very grand. Our forebears would be quite happy of this momentous occasion." Itzamec II followed Moatl into the Council Chambers.

Itzamec's six greatest advisors sat around an ancient table, all looking ancient in their wisdom. They nodded politely and friendly to the Emperor, knowing what was about to occur.

"My council, and close friends. Today marks the day when the great Aztec Empire takes its greatest step forward. For a century, our scholars have worked on making this great nation greater, and today we shall see the fruits of their labors. For today marks the day when we shall give voice to the people.

"New maps are being provided to the populace and all government offices as we speak. Our nation will now be divided into three provinces. I am told that the North and South provinces have already decided on their town council and provincial councils. The Mayan province is, well, a little busy right now. But the Military Council of Generals is preparing the newly conquered lands for their own elections.

"You, my dear friends, have been selected by the people to ruled over the Capital, in council. The Gods have elected I stay as Emperor, to be advised by you. Together we shall make the nation greater than ever before!! Our orders will now go to the provincial governors, who will then enact them to the greatest efficiency of his province. In this way, our orders will be carried out more efficiently and quickly for all.

"In time, we shall allow the people more freedom than to just decide on local issues, but our nation is not yet ready for that.

"I am also told that Yotatl has completed the new code of laws. This is a great achievement that details all the laws from Tenochtitlan. It has already been distributed across the nation. The greatest achievement is that none, even your Divine Emperor, are above the law."

Itzamec II looked around at his advisors, all who looked quite pleased with the new developments. Perhaps that had thought he would prevent progress. Perhaps they thought he would grasp for more power than originally intended. It did not matter, for when the gods spoke (and they did, to Itzamec), one listened.

And as news of the completed transition reached the North and South Provinces, the people rejoices. They knew now that their voices mattered (at least on local issues), and were joyous that the Emperor was divinely selected by the Gods (yes, all of them). A new age was passing on to the Aztec Empire... excuse me.. the Aztec Imperial Republic.

And so it was written.
