Yesterday I was swamped with homework all day and when I wanted to continue the update in the evening (I only got about 1/3 done, mostly story), the CFC was down, telling me that there's a technical error with the database or something like that.
So today I am continuing the update.
This NES is not dead (I'm saying this cuz it seems a lot of you are actively clamoring for an update so it seems you all still are interested).
EDIT: While you wait for the update, I encourage you to rejoice about the release of Civ4 tomorrow. YAAAAAAY!

Update 20 - 300 BCE
A revolution has indeed occurred in Yemen which is now calling itself Arabia and the government that is replacing the old has ordered withdrawal from Israelite land, hoping to initiate peace talks with Israel. Only a few military commanders have refused the order to withdraw thus far.
However, simultaneously Malagasy has invaded Arabia to relieve pressure off Israel.
After the repelled siege of Jerusalem, the authority of the Dallani Khan, supreme warlord of the Afridi Pashtuns who resides in Pashtunia, has reached its shatterpoint with the Israelite/allied further counter-offensives. Even most of the Persians, who had served as local administration, have refused to follow along anymore.
Revolutions spread, and with them, chaos.
The Iraqis and Babylonians have gained control of Babylon, capital of Iraq and Babylonia before it, and have spread their revolution across their people. The new Mesopotamian Republic is giving people the right to choose their own legislature. However, the Mesopotamians have been governed by Persian administrators, and the only remnants of documented pre-Afridi self-rule illustrate a despotic regime: something that the Mesopotamian Revolutionaries do not want to revive.
In the north, thus, Kurdish tribes who had converted to Judaism, not Zoroastrianism have demanded that they be permitted to join Israel, so that they will never again have to suffer religious oppression. The people living west of the Euphrates also want to join Israel, seeing it as, in the long term, stronger and more viable than Mesopotamia.
In the eastern and southern regions of Mesopotamia, Persian administration has held on to power, and has declared those areas part of the Greater Persian Empire. In the southern territories, the local Iraqis after the euphoria of independence was crushed by the Persian declaration attempted a feeble revolt, only to be crushed by the local contingents of the Pashtun Army, some of the soldiers being Iraqi and Babylonian themselves. In the east, the locals, imbued with ultra-Zoroastrian mindset, have accepted the declaration of incorporation into a Greater Persia.
Thus far, the military and political situation of Mesopotamia is uncertain Mesopotamians are deserting the Pashtun Army, but there are enough who remain loyal to the faltering Pashtun Empire; the Mesopotamians have been alienated from government positions for centuries, and the only able politicians are Persians, many of whom are seeking to enlarge Persia in the post-Pashtun vacuum of power.
In South Turkistan, the revolution has been supported by the invasion by Turkistans army. Half of the area has been liberated, but the southern half continues to be occupied by Persian contingents of the Pashtun military. Violence has broken out in liberated and occupied lands, particularly between Turkics and local Persians or Afridis.
War could happen between the restored Persian state and Turkistan.
In Afghanistan, the non-Afridi Pashtuns have overthrown the Persian/Afridi governments and militaries, as is the trend elsewhere, with the restored Afghanistan again with its capital in Kabul. Surviving members of the Durrani clan are in the forefront for position as the ruling clan. The other clans look to the Durranis for leadership in overthrow of the hated Afridis. However, already there are disagreements: the Durrani, remembering the confederacy that was easily destroyed by just a smidge of Afridi troublemaking, seek to consolidate power at least half of the other clans want to restore the old decentralized system.
The Pakistanis, having had lost half their land to Travancore, have pledged to join Afghanistan. They have assembled a loya jirga for the West Pakistani lands to decide whether to join with Afghanistan on equal terms in a federation or to permit the Kabul government to centralize. The result of the deliberations of this assembly may decide the structural future of Afghanistan.
In western Afghanistan, massacres have occurred against the Afridi clan. In some of those areas, Persians have declared their sovereignty over the territories, with many members of the Pashtun Army consistently backing them up. Thus, armed confrontations between non-Afridi militias and the new Persian army (?) have begun and contribute to the tense chaos.
Naturally, it is in Persia that the revolution is smoothest. The governing family in Persepolis, the Sassanids, has been elevated to the position of imperial dynasty by the Persian administrators everywhere across Persia.
However even in Persia, where the bureaucracy was already set up, there is some troubles. The main one being the division of Persian revolutionaries into two camps those that want to enlarge Persia, specifically at the expense of Mesopotamia and through seeking union with Armenia; the other group would prefer to maintain Mesopotamia independent as a buffer against a vengeful Israel but instead set their sights on Afghanistan and Turkistan. Both groups support the Sassanid family, and only wait for the Shahs word on what the policy will be. The first group is much more tolerant religiously than the second.
A thorn in the Mesopotamian and Persian side is Pashtunia. Half the city is in rebellion because if slave riots, but it is otherwise a sole fortress of Afridi power. It will not last for long, surely, but the question is not when it will fall, but to whom?
Rome still cant compare to the cultural and intellectual value that was Byzantium. Scholarly figures continue to fall for the Eastern Mediterranean.

In Portugal, the Christians are converting a lot of people as well.
The now-proclaimed union of Benghazi and Tripoli has prevented Christianity from spreading much there, as the government condemns it as another foreign cult meant to be used to enslave the Berbers.
As Bulgars attempt to move to Bulgaria, many of their convoys fall under attack by local militia, some even members of the armies of the Kiev Pact states. Only 5,000 of the 24,000 settlers made it to Ruthenia, from where they will go on south through Dacia to Bulgaria. This is due to the Bulgar warlords decision to commit the soldiers to fighting off Eire.
In Muscovy and Kiev, people have risen in revolution, making the further transit for the remaining 15,000 Bulgars to Bulgaria more difficult. Moscow, incorporated into Finland, has joined the revolution, but the Finnish army may actually manage to crush the revolt in their land. In Bulgar Russia, its more likely the revolution will succeed.
Brandenburgers have attempted revolt but it has been crushed by a Bulgar-Saxon army. The Saxons quickly subdued the center of unrest, Berlin, in time to prevent Irish entrance, though a siege has begun.

The GDC Consul has ordered troops to remain in Western Papua. This action was opposed by the Senate who, while he was vacationing for a month in Sydney, passed laws that increased legislative power and overturned the order to remain. Troops have begun withdrawal.
The Malaysians have landed at the two islands south of Papua, demanding their land back as the GDC is dishonest.
Peace has come at last to the eastern Asian nations. Nihon lost the Choson territories, the Philippines, and everything south of the Philippines, as well as giving Malaysia control over Sakhalin and Okinawa.
The cost of the war was horrendous. Trade was disrupted completely and in effect ceased. The constant attacks and counter-attacks, and that hurricane, have ravaged the sea-oriented economies. All the war-involved Balist countries are suffering the post-war economic collapse, though Malaysia, never depending on trade with Nihon, is least-hit. The atmosphere in China, the Choson Republic, and Vietnam regarding the Nihonese is extremely hostile. Neither the governments nor the populations want to even hear of the return of Nihonese merchants. In the neutral Philippines, they are more receptive to Nihonese trade but thus far no Nihonese ship can make it that far without going into port an impossibility in the Chinese ports, the only ones available nearby for resupply.

The Travancori army withdrew from Nepal, but this is a very mixed blessing for the Nepalese: the invaders burned and destroyed a lot of the territory, and have initiated a blockade to prevent food from getting in there.
Western Travancori unrest grows.

In a gesture of benevolence, the Caribbean Empire has taken some Iroquois from the New Illini Empire to let them live in peace without fear of oppression from the New Illini people and government.
However, things were shady. En route, some of the refugees displayed odd behavior, being heard by the soldiers on guard in the boats speaking the Illini tongue. The Iroquois considered it a betrayal to learn and speak the language of the evil Illini, and thus wouldnt dare speak it on a ship filled with fellow Iroquois.
Too late it was realized that the refugees were not refugees at all, but Illini High Saints. Upon entrance into Havanas harbor, one of the ships rammed a docked ship the High Saints, it turns out, killed the officers and commanders of the ship and took control. Both ships were destroyed but not before the High Saints of the entire refugee convoy spilled into the harbor, slaughtering unsuspecting merchants and civilians. The Caribbean troops have managed to prevent them from reaching the imperial palace and the High Saints occupy only half of Havana and some land in the coast nearby. This was possible despite the Caribbean armys smaller size due to the fact that the High Saints are dedicated to ritual slaughter of Iroquois Caribbeans are as far from Iroquois as people could get. So there is not that extra needed ingredient necessary for full effectiveness and determination.
The rest of the Caribbean navy has also been attacked across the coastal seas and regions near Cuba. New Illini fleets managed to destroy them because of the surprise element, as they have only now modernized.
Naturally, the trade has been disrupted temporarily, so the Caribbean economy may drop a bit soon, though the trade can be redirected to another coastal town and a new navy built up.
Hearing of the success, the New Illini are extremely euphoric. This success came as the most recent in a string of terrific military campaigns to secure New Illini power. With the continuation of the population boom, celebrations are more numerous and illustrious. If not for the slaving Iroquois nearby, a wanderer would think he wandered straight into a utopia where everyone is happy and prospering.
Speaking of the Iroquois, in some areas, particularly in Ontario, rebellions have occurred. The withdrawal of the High Saints provided them enough breathing space to organize. The Ontarian-Iroquois have murdered several Illini families in the rebellious countryside, and several of the more affluent families in Toronto have also been massacred. The New Illini Army has begun to step in once the murders were discovered, but the rebellion may have a small chance if it spreads throughout the Iroquois remnant.

The Aztecs continue pushing and the Maya push back. The Aztecs achieved success in the coastal areas, while the Maya have repelled the invaders to the border in the inland area. Unfortunately for the Maya, the Aztecs have learned their lesson from the last offensives, so newer battle tactics were used, killing a lot of the defenders troops. Furthermore, the Maya are now in a dangerous position of being easily encircled, most of their army being in that inland counter-offensive. Compared to Aztec casualties, the military losses of the Maya are catastrophic.
The transition completes into the Imperial Republic, federalizing the Aztec Imperial Republic. Along with this, roads continue to connect the Aztec lands.
New Illini receive Aztec teachers and Quetzalist preachers.

Droughts and famines begin in the Malagasy Empire. The revolutions have been defeated partially by the intervention of the government and partially because Zambia, Lesotho, and Beiraland have been the hardest-hit areas. Sanitary conditions in Zambia and Lesotho have never been on the same level as in Malagasy, but since the war and failed revolution, they have only degraded further. Living conditions thus are likewise plummeting, and Malagasy officials fear disease.

On the unclaimed lands northwest of the Choson Republic and China, some trouble seems to be brewing. Could it be a new empire on the rise?

Remember: When you do orders, do not think about I will use the economy points I will get right now as tribute or I will get the new troops out to the front right away.
No. When you do orders, all you have to work with is the stats you have, not the stats you will have. I got confused with some people that used the stuff they would barely get now, but I let it slide this time. Next time, it will not happen.
Also remember to put in how much troops youll be getting from your spending on them (eg, 1 economy point spent on cavalry, say spend 1 point on cavalry (+250 cavalry) or something like that). Most did this but I still got a few orders that neglected this. I know its been awhile and if anyone should be complaining its you for having to wait so long for the update, but Ive been stressing this for how long now? I am honestly tired of repeating myself. I didnt think Id have to say it again, and next time I wont I will give penalties instead, and maybe that will get a message across.
Good thing is, that everyone put their stats in their orders finally. Thanks for that.

In a gesture of benevolence, the Caribbean Empire has taken some Iroquois from the New Illini Empire to let them live in peace without fear of oppression from the New Illini people and government.
However, things were shady. En route, some of the refugees displayed odd behavior, being heard by the soldiers on guard in the boats speaking the Illini tongue. The Iroquois considered it a betrayal to learn and speak the language of the evil Illini, and thus wouldnt dare speak it on a ship filled with fellow Iroquois.
Too late it was realized that the refugees were not refugees at all, but Illini High Saints. Upon entrance into Havanas harbor, one of the ships rammed a docked ship the High Saints, it turns out, killed the officers and commanders of the ship and took control. Both ships were destroyed but not before the High Saints of the entire refugee convoy spilled into the harbor, slaughtering unsuspecting merchants and civilians. The Caribbean troops have managed to prevent them from reaching the imperial palace and the High Saints occupy only half of Havana and some land in the coast nearby. This was possible despite the Caribbean armys smaller size due to the fact that the High Saints are dedicated to ritual slaughter of Iroquois Caribbeans are as far from Iroquois as people could get. So there is not that extra needed ingredient necessary for full effectiveness and determination.
The rest of the Caribbean navy has also been attacked across the coastal seas and regions near Cuba. New Illini fleets managed to destroy them because of the surprise element, as they have only now modernized.
Naturally, the trade has been disrupted temporarily, so the Caribbean economy may drop a bit soon, though the trade can be redirected to another coastal town and a new navy built up.
Hearing of the success, the New Illini are extremely euphoric. This success came as the most recent in a string of terrific military campaigns to secure New Illini power. With the continuation of the population boom, celebrations are more numerous and illustrious. If not for the slaving Iroquois nearby, a wanderer would think he wandered straight into a utopia where everyone is happy and prospering.
Speaking of the Iroquois, in some areas, particularly in Ontario, rebellions have occurred. The withdrawal of the High Saints provided them enough breathing space to organize. The Ontarian-Iroquois have murdered several Illini families in the rebellious countryside, and several of the more affluent families in Toronto have also been massacred. The New Illini Army has begun to step in once the murders were discovered, but the rebellion may have a small chance if it spreads throughout the Iroquois remnant.
NEW ILLINOIS: -100 UU; +3 Confidence, -140 Triremes
CARIBBEAN EMPIRE: -120 Galleys, -200 Triremes, -70 Infantry
The Aztecs continue pushing and the Maya push back. The Aztecs achieved success in the coastal areas, while the Maya have repelled the invaders to the border in the inland area. Unfortunately for the Maya, the Aztecs have learned their lesson from the last offensives, so newer battle tactics were used, killing a lot of the defenders troops. Furthermore, the Maya are now in a dangerous position of being easily encircled, most of their army being in that inland counter-offensive. Compared to Aztec casualties, the military losses of the Maya are catastrophic.
The transition completes into the Imperial Republic, federalizing the Aztec Imperial Republic. Along with this, roads continue to connect the Aztec lands.
New Illini receive Aztec teachers and Quetzalist preachers.

Droughts and famines begin in the Malagasy Empire. The revolutions have been defeated partially by the intervention of the government and partially because Zambia, Lesotho, and Beiraland have been the hardest-hit areas. Sanitary conditions in Zambia and Lesotho have never been on the same level as in Malagasy, but since the war and failed revolution, they have only degraded further. Living conditions thus are likewise plummeting, and Malagasy officials fear disease.

On the unclaimed lands northwest of the Choson Republic and China, some trouble seems to be brewing. Could it be a new empire on the rise?

Remember: When you do orders, do not think about I will use the economy points I will get right now as tribute or I will get the new troops out to the front right away.
No. When you do orders, all you have to work with is the stats you have, not the stats you will have. I got confused with some people that used the stuff they would barely get now, but I let it slide this time. Next time, it will not happen.
Also remember to put in how much troops youll be getting from your spending on them (eg, 1 economy point spent on cavalry, say spend 1 point on cavalry (+250 cavalry) or something like that). Most did this but I still got a few orders that neglected this. I know its been awhile and if anyone should be complaining its you for having to wait so long for the update, but Ive been stressing this for how long now? I am honestly tired of repeating myself. I didnt think Id have to say it again, and next time I wont I will give penalties instead, and maybe that will get a message across.
Good thing is, that everyone put their stats in their orders finally. Thanks for that.

ooc: to Kentharu; the only reason I initially contacted the Aztecs, allied with them and was convinced to attack you was because you attacked my harbor out of nowhere and seem to support my enemies every step of the way. If you weren't continually trying to pull their fat out of the fire I would trust you. Just trying to buy them or side with them is like saying you're my enemy.

If you wish for true peace and perhaps even an alliance you will destroy the Mayans at our command. Until then friendship and loyalty in the Illini people to the Carribean Empire is impossible; for the Aztec are our friends and we do not make friends with the enemies of our loyal allies.
