Stormrage`s Fantasy Mod

Ok, how does this sound - "Order" civ -

first era - only humans - swordsman, spearman, archer, horseman

second era - angel contact - upgrades of normal units: swordsman, spearman, bowman, knight, first human magic unit - the prophet, first paladin knight, and of course first angel unit (very costly, very strong, enslaves to "crusaders")

third era - angelic reinforcements - upraded swordsman, spearman, bowman, old knight and old paladin both upgrade to new paladin, upgraded crusader, second angelic unit, even more costly, more defensive, no enslavement, and a paladin for the second angel, mostly just for the fun factor :)

fourth era - upgraded swordsman, mage, crusader, and both paladins. Last unit to be researched -uber footman paladin (aaglo`s phoenix guard :))

I`ll make a picture tomorrow :)

Also, maybe I`ll make a small request for a paladin unit (something like that Angel in Diablo II but without the wings). A golden armor and a white cape, bullllkkky armorrrr, shiny sword, maybe even a hammer in the other hand!
It`ll never get made :(

Well... wow.. its been that long eh? This is not dead, but making 5 mods and getting heavily lost along the way takes time :crazyeye:

So, after being seriously pissed off for so many times by the lack of units, I decided to just let them go to hell and make my own. I`m yet to tackle Utah`s tutorial beyond the first contact with UVmapper, but a man can dream, right? :mischief:

Anywayz, I`d appreciate any comments on these here unit-lines and stats. BTW, yes, they are a modified version of the WH setup ;)

Nope, the purple era will get a magical bombardment unit :), like the spells in WH. Third age is the age of magic, but unlike in WH, its really the age of magic (in wh, you discover magic in the 1st era, and then nothing happens trough the 2nd, and then you enter the age of magic.. that always confused me)

And blue? Um.. I dunno.. Imma need over 2 or 3 hundred new units for this mod so I`m taking it "easy" for now

Here is a concept of 1 race, unit makers can consider these as requests if they feel like it :mischief:

Now this is intriguing. We're all looking forward to seeing what comes off the assembly lines!

I tried going pass the UVmapper section of the Tutorial today, but I just couldn`t concentrate.. Its gonna take a while ;)

Also, when it says paint the upper 25% of the kilt with civ color, does it mean I really paint over it, over the black lines and everything, or fill the white "squares" with civ-color?

No one is commenting on the stats, or the, as far as I know, unusual archer placement in the lines?

I never worked that out either, Stormrage. If you can't work it out I'd say just skip that bit and focus on the rest of it.

But my solution to the problem is this: forget the wireframe thing, simply create a square image and paint on that, then apply it to the model and see what it looks like. That's worked for me so far.

I actually had exactly the same problem when following the tutorial for units, I painted just 25% of the wireframe in civ specific blue, and the rest of the wire frame in 135 135 135 (RGB) grey, and I got a total mess. Then I was adviced just to paint over the grids, because they don't count. So I did it, and works perfect! Did you use utah's tutorial or what? Because I can give you the JPG file I made just so that you don't need to do it yourself... ("25%" and the words "wireframe", "black lines" and UVMapper made me believe you were talking about that...)

BTW about the mod: I would consider doing a second era unit that upgrades to a era 4 unit that is almost as good as the Uber unit (I am refering to the first unit line you posted, not Pyros, not Vangoths)

Personally I would quite like to see the JPG - if you could just post it up here (or perhaps in UtahJazz' tutorial thread) that would be cool. Despite all the descriptions of what it's meant to be like, I've never been able to visualise it or replicate the effect myself.

Mirc, thanks for the opinion, I`ll think about it?

What about the Militia2 (needs a better name) unit?

I`m thinking of making it need iron cos of some design choices, but what would be the point then? Would the AI use it if it was say, really cheap, or would it go straight for the infantry? I need an excuse why is it better than Militia 1... ;)

I`m also thinking of making Elementals (fire, earth, water, air) spawnable by SWs to juice up the tree ;)

obsidian. its sharper but shatters easier. its a stoney material the mesoamericans used it..

or upgrade iron status to mythrill and put iron in earlier?
