This ended up being a lot harder than I expected and I'll most likely end up redoing it when I get better at 3ds max, but here it is....just the helmet from a stormtrooper. I've never learned how to do the nif viewer so if someone could try to attach this beast and see if it even works I'd be much obliged. Included in the zip is the nif, dds, and the max file in case anyone wants to improve it. A screenie from the rendered version:

I also think it might be a poly hog. (How long can I use the noob excuse?) ;)

That not too bad! There are some proportion problems but for a beginner, thats GOOD. I remember when I first begain modelling, I would have never done that. and you now know ow to UV map? Nice, it took me a while to learn that.

Thanks. I had to try a head to see where I was in the learning curve. I think I'll go back and make some units, buildings, or resources for a while before I attempt another head or even a humanoid. It's a tough balance between a good looking model and poly count. When you check online tutorials they aren't concerned with that damn poly count!

i think this thing is perfect, with nif viewer i think one could make a real stomrtrooper helmet out of this helmet bis adjusting proportions! sorry have no usbsstick with me, so i cant try...

That's good to know seZ. Maybe I'll whip a body at some point for it. :)

Damn woodelf, you're getting better and better with each model! Very cool :)
