STR-01: The Scorched Lands

Pre Turn Plan / Analysis

1. Continue building ICBM’s in cities whose production mean they can make a meaningful contribution in 25 turns. This will give us

Karakorum 4
Ning Hsia 1
Old Sarai 2
New Sarai 1
Samarqand 1
Tabriz 1
Kanga’s Lair 1
Total 11 Which feels about right to t ke out any SOD / major cities.

2. Upgrade Forces. As soon as Assembly line comes in upgrade appropriate forces to Infantry. As we can throw off a lot of commerce at 0% :
science this should only take about 3 turns. I don’t propose upgrading cannons to Artillery as I believe cannons can still do an OK job. We will probably need to upgrade our navy quite substantially as we will need a big one and probably can’t build it inn time so need to upgrade our Galleons / Frigates.

StartFroces.jpg

3. Deploy Forces.

Two things here
a) We need sufficient forces in Indian Territory to know where to aim our new improved and improved pointy sticks we have a few there now but may need to transport a few more to keep track of our Dear Friend Gandhi.
b) We need to start assembling our mini SOD’s on Gandhi’s borders on our Island so that as soon as we press the big red button we can a.s.a.p take out his cities near us so he can’t airlift in his superior troops etc

4. Builds. For cities not involved in ICBM production the top priority now is not research but if coastal building our Navy if not probably sacrificial artillery for the quick take down of Gandhi’s cities on our Mainland

5. Research. Two options post Assembly line.
i) We can either burn our two GS to light bulb about 2/3rds of Flight or
ii) press on to Industrialisation for tanks a.s.a.p. I am inclined towards flight as otherwise Gandhi could have a field day against our forces as it gives something else useful to build (Fighters).

So off we go

Turn 1 Assembly Line in, switch to Flight to use our GS, :science: to 0% for Upgrade Purposes.
Troops on ships to Blastoids Tomb for Upgrade purposes
Switch Production in non ICBM cities as discussed above

Turn 2. Immediately deviate from the plan I laid out above (it lasted 1 turn which is above average for me  ). As Karakorum has lots of :hammers: it actually is worth diverting to Factory + coal plant costing 600 :hammers: and then resuming ICBM’s as we get a net gain in less than 25 turns.

Get our first new toy!!

Love the way Publius Fury celebrate on the same day…

Turn 3 Force have redeployed in Gandhi’s land and we can now see into all his big cities. I wont’ do a screenie lets just say his SOD’s are a lot bigger and more modern than ours. Of course we now have a wee edge in the shape of Mushroom clouds on the way….

Turn 4 - 5 :coffee: and upgrading

Turn 6: Win the vote for Emancipation as we were really suffering with this in some of our cities. Next player to consider forcing a switch to Free SPeece or Universal Suffrage, note these are Anarchy Free switches so we shouldn’t be shy about them….

Turn 7-10:

JC comes up with a trade I can turn down, of course this is good news as it means he doesn’t have any , what a shame….

EOT

Still on track for at least the 11 ICBM’s outlined at the start in 15 turns time.

Military is looking a lot more modern now

We have assembled some forces on Gandhis’ Borders

Flight in 2 despite all the upgrading then onto Industrialisation

Had a look in Gandhoi's capital and I can't see Bunkers, of course I don't know what they look like so somebody else should check

Good turns Ralph.

However:
Turn 6: Win the vote for Emancipation

One of the variant rules was that Slavery had to be the labor civic at all times:(.
So next players: please don't vote away our variant civics

The New And Much Improved Roster:
1) Strauss --> has started building the Grand Arsenal of Nuclear Weapons and prevented Julius from destroying Cyrus
2) Ralph_Jackson --> modernized the military but forgot the variant rules. He will be tied to the first nuke to launch
3) Pvblivs --> UP! to build even more nukes
4) Kanga_DU --> Didn't know how to use the Great Scientist (neither did I)
5) princecharles --> has decided to flee before the world gets turned into a wasteland
6) blastoidstalker. --> ditto

Dohhhhh many apologies next player to establish a city can call it "Ralphs Deviancy" as punishment me thinks.

Apologies

Ralph

Well not much that I could do in my set of turns. I just pressed enter 10 times clicking some dialogues away randomly. Some things of further notice for you though:

We discovered Flight in 1932. Our next aim is Industrialism that will come in at about 1942.

It seems that I am doomed to participate in such :

In 1934 I notice I failed to trade with Caesar:

Civ4ScreenShot00032.JPG

I thought he would have this tech . No I notice that we won't get anything from him for it. He asks for help. And as he should stay our friend after 1945 as well, I give in.

I tried to undo what Ralph has done with the UN. As you see it was nothing of a success at all:

The next and last resolution of my turnset worked though. But it seemed it was worth nothing...:

You probably like to know something about our progress on those nukes. Here you go:

1931 - Old Sarai
1933 - Karakorum
1935 - New Sarai
1938 - Samarqand, Kanga's Lair
1939 - Karakorum, Old Sarai

Means that we've completed another 7 ICBMS, not to forget some minor military as well.

Well this is a serious race now. We have a huge problem as Caesar won't join in a war against Gandhi.

We really need to handle it on our own. I think it will be almost impossible for us now to still win. But we will give a hard fight, won't we? :nuke::hammer:

Kanga, it's your honour to use those toys after the last one completes.

WHAT TIME IS IT?!?

(umm... wrong thread I suppose)

EDIT: hm... not looking quite as good after Pvblivs' second post, although Gandhi still has the most important part to construct. Has he got Fission by now?

The New And Much Improved Roster:

1) Strauss --> has started building the Grand Arsenal of Nuclear Weapons and prevented Julius from destroying Cyrus
2) Ralph_Jackson --> modernized the military but forgot the variant rules. He will be tied to the first nuke to launch
3) Pvblivs --> produced 7 nukes
4) Kanga_DU --> UP! to produce even more
5) princecharles --> has decided to flee before the world gets turned into a wasteland
6) blastoidstalker --> ditto

Yes he does :cringe:

We need another 5 turns for the last 3 nukes.

Well, it's just all about trial-and-error now. And I think we both once again will loose another space race, won't we, Strauss? :borg:

Just another idea: To protect ourselves it might be helpful to sign this nuclear weapons treaty and in the same turn launch all our ICBMs. The next turn it is signed and no further weapons can be produced if Caesar joins our vote.

What do you think?

It's looking like it:(. Maybe we should start invading countries BEFORE they're only 2 parts away from their spaceship for a change:lol:.

Kanga, prove us wrong!

Does Gandhi even have ICBM's?

I haven' checked this. If not, we can easily rely on the treaty after our first strike. If yes we will bleed very very very much before our defeat.

I have never seen an AI use nukes. I think we shouldn't bother with the treaty and keep nuking India until there's no trace left:evil:

I have, though they seem to nuke at random. Then again, this is Gandhi. He never builds nukes except in extreme cases, and then only two or three. As long as Ceasar is our ally, we needn't fear being nuked.

Alright, I'm a couple of turns in, however the (probable) bad news is that I think Gandhi has most cities with bomb shelters. If the building I see with the radiation hazard symbol to the right of the broadcast tower is a shelter...

I've played 6 turns to 1946 now. Gandhi is 1 part (Stasis Chamber) away from space. He is at least more than the immediate tech off this part now. More strong feeling is that we need to make our play now. We still are short on military strength but I say we should roll the dice now, while we still have some (remote) chance. I'm leaving that up to a group call however.

We've a g.scientist in P-Fury as well to use.

Next player can have my extra 4 turns.

http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads12/STR_01_AD-1946.Civ4SavedGame

Well we built em to use em so I say press the button :bump:

Anyway if we are going down lets go down in a "Scorched Lands" way which means let him have it...

Ralph

Strauss, don't you want to have this honour in your game? :)

Well, comrades, you know what we're doing brings us hell. t'was a pleasure!

Yes, those are bomb shelters:(.

As Ralph said, if we're going down anyway, let's kill as many Indians as we can:cool:

EDIT: Well, if the group wants me to have the 'honour', then I will take the next turns.

I'll donate you my last 4 turns at very least Strauss.

Go on, press the button... you know you want to...
