IMHO, it is a diplomatic waste of time (and techs) to get others declare on Lincoln, and yet not agree when we were asked. Not only do we not get anything out of it, we incur a "-1 You refused to help us during wartime".
Well, I declared on the inherited turns, knowing that it won't be too long for Lincoln to roll over and throw the towel. His score has dropped to bottom, and looking at the logs, he lost a few cities already.
Well, at least we get some gold and exp out of this exercise:
And just as I am about to yank Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan out of the sleeplessness in Seatte, peace returns, as I predicted.
With that, we'd actually faired worse diplomatically with Hannibal than before the war. So, I had to find some way to amend that. But before that, an artists arrived and was settled. At least that will help to give us some gold.
Now, the matter of Hannibal. Look at the favorite civics:
Hannibal's is Free Market, but he is in Mercantilsm? hmmm .... and if you compare our civics:
There are other civics choices that we can adopt to gain brownie points. But these other civs are currently friendly, so maybe we would change civics on;ly when they start adopting Free Religion.
But I should address Hannibal first. And I did, with this trade:
Let's hope he stay this way.
