STR-07: Chief of the World

Im not a OCC expert but I guess we need to concentrate on our city growth, therefore Granary and food should be early focuses. Maybe we should start with worker and maybe we should irrigate grassland first before cottaging to increase growth. Should we look to find a religion or hope one spreads to us. If we can build a shrine it should cover our expenses so we could run at 100% science most of the game??. Are there barbs?? if so we should make sure we have some defense better than warrior by 2000BC.

I don't think we should go for any of the early religions, we need to focus on some Worker techs first. Barbs are on, so we'll need some decent defenses. I usually go with a Warrior-first strategy, but it might be interesting to go Worker-first this time, since we already have a Warrior we can afford it.

I was also thinking one of the later ones also if any at all. The sooner we get the worker the sooner we can improve nearby tiles but we need to make sure we have necessary techs to avoid having worker standing around with nothing to do. I think we should look at Ag, Mining, Wheel, Pottery as first few techs.

Turn 3 (3880 BC): Cahokia is founded

Turn 15 (3400 BC):
The Native Americans enter the Classical Age (pop Horseback Riding from a hut).

Civ4ScreenShot0003-12.jpg

Turn 23 (3080 BC):
We make contact with the Dutch.

Civ4ScreenShot0007-12.jpg

Turn 42 (2320 BC):
We make contact with the Sumerians.

Civ4ScreenShot0009-15.jpg

Turn 44 (2240 BC):
The huts are kind to us today: I pop Bronze Working from one, although it was already near completion.

Civ4ScreenShot0010-15.jpg

Turn 45 (2200 BC):
We meet the Americans under Lincoln, the founders of Buddhism.

Civ4ScreenShot0011-11.jpg

Turn 50 (2000 BC):
I pass on to tycoonist.

Civ4ScreenShot0013-12.jpg

Civ4ScreenShot0014-10.jpg

There's one Dog Soldier and a Warrior in Cahokia for defense, Barb Archers have started appearing. There is a hut to the east of Cahokia, but it's defended by a Warrior fortified in a forest so we'll need some stronger troops to get its bonus (we might pop CoL)

I think we should head down the religious path after Writing for the Oracle, for the free tech and to get the GPP running (Stonehenge isn't really worth it). At Monarch the Oracly usually goes quite early but we do have a few hill forests we can chop to speed things up.

Sorry ungy, I mistakenly added a 6th slot in the original roster. I only saw this just now.

the round didn't start off well:

but we got our vengeance for the lost warrior:

muhahaha! nobody challenges dog warrior's superiority. not even the hut guard:

crappy27gold.jpg

unfortunately, all we got was a crappy 27 gold. ah well, we had good luck earlier i suppose.

i teched writing followed by mystic, meditation ( i should have researched polytheism instead but didn't think), priesthood, back to polytheism and now onto aesthetics. i want to release cahokia full production potential and this means globe theater.

we then met this bloke:

hannibal.jpg

he then did this:

arsehole.jpg

i had opened boarders in the hopes of religion spread. i ignored his request, hannibal often ends up our rival anyway.

i played 26 turns total. why the weird number? because we got to this point:

Cahokia.jpg

what do we want? i see two options: monarchy is no use due to globe theater, therefore that leaves us with CoL or Metal casting. CoL will give us confucius.

i will play on if you want me to Strauss.

I think we should pick CoL as our free tech. Since we're going for a Diplo Victory, we're going to have to convert most of the other civs anyway, so might as well use our own-founded religion for that for some extra shrine income.

BTW, tycoonist, you were only supposed to play 20 turns! :spank:

Roster:
1) Strauss
2) tycoonist --> just played 6 turns too many
3) Mighty Dwaarf --> UP for 24 to even things out a bit
4) GreyFox --> on deck
5) stuge

On the previous page, my second 'game' post:

Strauss said:
Will play the rest of my first 50 turns tomorrow, then it's 20 each until it comes back to me for 15 turns each for the rest of the game.

Sorry ungy, I mistakenly added a 6th slot in the original roster. I only saw this just now.
NP at all--I'm happy to lurk.

You might want to consider where you need to get to and work backwards. To win you need 2 things: build the UN and get the vote.
On monarch I think the UN is not too hard.
The vote is much harder. You need 4 of the AI of pop 2-6 to vote for you. Don't know about BTS but in warlords the criteria for voting for the player was +8 relations and better than the other candidate. You have to be very careful with your trading and diplomacy to avoid the -penalties as you can't afford many of them.
Good luck!

Played 24 to even it up.

Take COL as free tech so we find confucianism. have spread it to Gilgamesh (now confucian) and one dutch city. I changed to confucianism to help out happiness but think maybe now shouldnt have sorry :mischief: , we should change back as happiness not a problem now and will help diplomatically.

I have connected us by road to Gilgamesh so we now have a trade route.

Others have found alphabet so we have traded for Alpha, Hunt, Arch, Mason and Sailing for cost of Med Priest and HBR. We can get Monarchy for COL and also IW from various sources. I have left these for next up to decide upon.

Our borders popped and we can now connect the 2 bronzes and the gold.

Holy Rome has settled city on our southern border and there is barb city to our east. I had just killed off a barb invasion we may need a couple more dogs as priority.

We will get GP in next couple of turns.

Sounds good, Dwaarf.

ungy stated above that we will need 4 AI to vote for us. Gilgamesh has already been brought to the Confucianist side. Willem and Lincoln are good guys I believe, but it'll be harder to get them to our side. I prefer Charlemagne over Hannibal as the 4th friend. However, we'll have to see how inter-AI relationships pan out and which civ will grow largest as this will obviously have significant effects on our 'friend policy'.

Roster:
1) Strauss
2) tycoonist
3) Mighty Dwaarf --> just played
4) GreyFox --> UP
5) stuge --> on deck

Pretty routine set. I revolted back to NSR:

str7-BC0375-revolt.jpg

That will cost us one happiness, but will be compensated by the upcoming gold mine.

We got a prophet, I think hard on whether to settle or to build the shrine, and decided that shrine is probably better now, since we may not another prophet (cos I am going for the GL), and the shrine will help autospread of confusion. Of-course, the shrine also add 1 GP point.

str7-BC0300-kongmiao.jpg

I traded with Lincoln, who seems to be suffering from migraine. Alas, no iron in our borders.

str7-BC0325-trade.jpg

We are a few turns away from TGL and stagnating at happy limit. Drama is in, so next player should see us build the Globe and start growing. For that, I have farmed the rest of the tiles. Alternative, the next player might wanna build the Jewish Temple to grow one more pop first. might be better, since it will allow one more mine to be worked.

For research, I selected Currency. Maybe :smoked: .... do we want to go Apostolic Palace or UN?

The relations screen. There is a bug in the ... well, BUG mod, where our relations are all -negative. But it does show the relative friends and fiends.

Is it okay to continue with currency, or should I go for CS right away?
