I have yet to receive the tech that I am currently research. Therefore, if you are playing a low enough level and your are expansionist, make sure you don't choose techs that block multiple other techs off (i.e. Writing). If you start research writing, then all the techs to thr right are off limilt to goody-huts until you have finished your ~32-turn research.
