My units are on strike and I'm losing 161 gold every turn. I'm building lots of cottages, I have lots of cottages, hamlets, villages, and towns. All my cities (there's between 10 and 25 of them with 3 of them over 15and 5 or more in double digit population) are building wealth. My units are disbanding. The year is 1984, time victory is enabled, and my closest rival is 700 points behind me. How do I fix this mess?

I accidentally posted this in the Civ 3 but it belongs in the Civ 4 area.

- change your nick name. your troops are on strike because they don't like it.
- work those cottages! It's useless to have cottages if you don't work them.
- change civics to less costly ones (state property, free religion,...)
- disband those 10000 useless units you have or put them to good use.

I'm another one who thinks your name needs 'rethinking'.

Change your civs to Beuracracy, Mercantilism and Caste system. Then put a Merchant Great Person in each city (will take a while put it's worth it), the Merchant will give +3gp each turn while; representation will mean that these merchants also give you 3 beakers each turn.

Wow ive never had that problem so late in the game. U musta started the game in modern era or something? Usually by the time you get just a bank in yr capitol this problem goes away forever. No idea how it happened in your case but sounds like your building was way too lopsided
