‘When on New Year’s Day 2006, a bomb ripped apart the political leadership of Italy, there was a void to fill. I knew it was God’s way to stop the depravity of the his people and to ensure that the true faith continued. So I took over the Italian government.’

-Pope Benedict XVI. Jan 02 2006.

As the clock struck midnight at the Chambers of the Italian Paliament, killing all members including Silvio Berlusconi the Prime Minister and owner of the largest media empire in Italy but also President Carlo Azeglio Ciampi.

The only authority left was the Minister of Finance, a man of grave Catholic leanings and thus he Guiseppe Cavour became the effective dictator of Italy. His dictatorship lasted 26 minutes before he called His Holy Father the Pope where the Pope took control over the government. The list of the other main people in this seizure of power.

Pope Benedict XVI, His holy father led the charge declaring that he was cleansing the Italian people of the unrighteous. He set up the Italian Inquistion of which Guiseepe Cavour took control of and suspended the constiution of Italy by the power invested in him by god. He declared the bombing to be an act by Al Qaeda and no longer could Italy or the Catholic Church tolerate these obvious attacks on Christianity.

Angelo Cardinal Sodano the Pope’s as the secretay of state has become the Italian Foreign Minister as well and is reporting the Vatican wishes in this seizure and the reasoning behind it. It is more based around that the killing has to be stopped. IF that means to kill them to stop the killing then so be it.

Edmund Cardinal Szoka as the Pope’s minister has become the Chief of Staff for the Papal administation of Italy. He has helped put together a stunning revolution for the Italian people as more people go to Catholic Churches again. He has began a campaign stating ‘It is the migrants fault for the bombings of our country. Italy is for Catholics and Catholics alone.’

Pope Bennedict XVI has declared that today shall forever more be a public holiday to celebrate the reawakening of the Catholic spirit and the rejuvination of the Church. He also released the new Italian flag, the Papal flag over government buildings in Italy.

Pope Bennedict XVI speaks to the Italian people

I come to you to talk about the expansion of a a very old tradition to the people of Catholic Italy.

Today the Swiss Guard is not considered to belong to any larger force, but is instead the army of the sovereign state of the Vatican. The force is specifically limited to one hundred soldiers and currently consists of 4 officers, 23 NCOs, 70 halberdiers, 2 drummers, and a chaplain, all with an equivalent Italian army rank. Although the guards are fully trained and equipped in modern weaponry and tactics, they also receive instructions in using the sword and halberd.

The guards must be Catholic males with Swiss or Italian citizenship who have completed basic training with the Swiss or Italian military and can obtain certificates of good conduct. Recruits must be between 19 and 30 and at least 174 cm (5ft 9in) tall.

Qualified candidates must apply to serve. If accepted, new guards are sworn in every May 6 in the San Damaso Courtyard (Italian: Cortile di San Damaso) in the Vatican. (May 6 is the anniversary of the Sack of Rome.) The chaplain of the guard reads aloud the oath in the language of the guard (mostly German, some French, few Italian):

"I swear to faithfully, honestly and honorably serve the reigning Pope [name of Pope] and his legitimate successors, and to dedicate myself to them with all my strength, ready to sacrifice, should it become necessary, even my own life for them. I likewise assume this promise toward the members of the Sacred College of Cardinals during the period of the Sede Vacante of the Apostolic See. Furthermore, I pledge to the Commandant and to my other superiors respect, fidelity, and obedience. I swear to abide by all the requirements attendant to the dignity of my rank."

When his name is called, each new guard approaches the Swiss Guard's flag, grasping the banner in his left hand. He raises his right hand with his thumb, index, and middle finger extended along three axes, a gesture that symbolizes the Holy Trinity, and speaks:

I, [name of the new guard], swear to diligently and faithfully abide by all this which has just been read to me; may The Almighty and His Saints be my witnesses."

He is then Swiss Gaurd of the Vatican. The Vatican is the heart of Italy and we shall ensure that the Italian people regain their dignity. We shall remove the migrant threat. We shall ensure that the Catholic faith remains pure and strong.

I am your Sheppard. You are my flock. Let me lead you with the wisdom bestowed upon me by Jesus Christ, to greatness!

Russia - Das

Huh? I claimed it for the 1900 NES, not for 2006. Feel free to take it, Gelion.

Yahoooo!!!!! 3 bottles of vodka from me on my next visit back home!!!! I am Russia now and I shall rock your world!

From the Catholic State of Italy

I propose that we form a Chrisitan alliance against the satanic threat represented by world islam.

I probably won't participate in this... at first, anyway. When you people least expect me, though, I'll be back to screw up all your plans.

EDIT:
As the clock struck midnight at the Chambers of the Italian Paliament, killing all members including Silvio Berlusconi the Prime Minister and owner of the largest media empire in Italy but also President Carlo Azeglio Ciampi.

ROFL, that's some powerful CLOCK.

I suggest that all of you disregard the two stories that Sheep has posted on this page. I also reserve the right to overturn any event that I believe is not realistic. You can appeal any decision to me and explain why you believe it is. I have already heard Sheep's explanation and do not believe it sufficient.

While we are at it, let me make a note about realism in this NES. This is going to be a realistic NES. It means technologies you develop and events that take place have to be plausable in the context of events that preceed it. There will be no outright Nazi revolutions in Germany, Russia will not become Communist all of a sudden, and there will be no Crusades out of nowhere. I understand that some of you may not like this policy, but I feel that this is the only way to keep this NES alive longer than 2-3 turns which is something I want to do. Now let us all have a pleasant NES.

Thats absoulte bull and you know it. It is entirely reasonable if a bomb killed all of the politicans of Italy that the Pope could become involved. I dont really see anything UNREALISITC about it. Just because it doesnt conform with your view is your problem, if you close yourself off from thinking outside the square you live in you are a poorer person.

The Pope still rules Italy. If you want to stop me then stop me but it will be your reputation and not mine that will suffer Stormbringer. I'm just here to play as part of the game.

Sheep, in that case I do not want you playing in this NES or posting in this thread. I do not want to deal with this. Clear?

Then let me have the Pope rule Italy. I have proven that its not unrealisitc just not probable happening tommorrow. Having said that its a possibility and wehter you like it or not real life and this nes will diverge.

If you kick me out of a nes because you disagree with the direction I am taking my own nation in, what is the point of nesing because isnt nesing a collective story not just one directing the others like puppeteers trying to make it 'realisitc' Realism is good but its only so good up til a degree then is becomes oppressive to the game.

Sheep, this is the last explanation you are going to get. A NES has started out as a collective story, but in that collective story everyone cannot run around and say "I now have a million nukes, I win" like some people, you included, would like to do. That is why NES has evolved into what it is now - a game with certain rules to follow. One of the rules of this particular NES is realism, and just as if you would try to say in Jason's NES that you have a million eco to spend he would not let you do that, in this NES I will not allow events that do not fit in with what is going on in the world to take place. You have been given an opportunity to explain why you believe this event is possible, instead you decided to insult me in terms I would rather not replicate on this forum. I am not sure how you thought that was going to help your cause, but it is not, you will not play in this NES. That is it, no further question, I believe it will be to the benefit of the NES, since I do not wish to spend endless hours in arguments with you or anyone else.

I resent that only once have I come accross a person that did this, however I cannot stand that. Besides that is what mods are for to ensure that those things that affect other countries are prevented. Indeed mods are needed.

However when it stops from the divergence of real life into the land of some imagination, in which most people use when regarding the nations in NESING, you are strangling the nes from all creativity.

How does me or anyone else for that matter have anything to do for not liking the events. If September 2001 never occured then I think you would say the World Trade Centre was not feasible. Get used to it Stormbringer, I am older than you, have more education than you, and have more life experience than you. I am a father, I have a wonderful fiancee, and I could retire today if I wanted to.

For the last time I am not stupid, but your pathetic little vendetta you have from GooberNES has got to stop. You do nothing but argue and you never stop to think that the other side might have a valid point. DO you have many friends that actually do stuff? Cause I might understand why you dont.

Dont worry I used to be the same when I was your age, but wether you like it or not, I grew up. And growing up is not all about viewpoints, maturity or anything like that. Its about finding your path in society, and having some fun on the great ride of life.

Having said this noone has proof that the Pope would not take over the Italian government when it is absolutley destroyed. 87% (conservative figure) of Italians are Catholic while a futher 6% claim they are not fully practicing Catholics. Thus the Pope has following in Italy.

Completely possible.

Indigenious Indian Military

Army

Arjun Main Battle Tank Considered comparable to the M1A2 Abrams, Leopard 2, and Leclerc, the 59-ton "15th Variant Arjun" can achieve a maximum speed of 70 kph (55 mph) and cross-country speed of 40 kph with its 1400-hp powerplant. The integrated gun system is expected to have all weather day-night operations with on-mount passive suiteof electro-optic sensors like laser range finders, forward looking infra-red (FLIR), thermal imaging systems and low-light level TV, for tracking and engaging fast flying targets by means of a high precision computerised digital servo control system.

ATV Advanced Technology Veichle-The Indian nuclear powered attack submarine design is said to have a 4,000-ton displacement and a single-shaft nuclear power plant of Indian origin. Once the vessel is completed, it may be equipped with Danush/Sagarika cruise missiles and an advanced sonar system

ADS Air Defence Ship-In 2001, CSL released an image illustrating the 32,000-ton STOBAR (Short Take-Off But Arrested Recovery) design with a pronounced ski jump. The design of the 'island' (superstructure) and sensor suite was considerably different from the model displayed at Def Expo 1999. In February 2002, then-incumbent Chief of Naval Staff - Admiral Madhvendra Singh - stated that the commissioning of the ADS will take 8 to 10 years since CSL had not yet been modernized. It was also revealed that the 32,000-ton ADS design was 250 meters long, capable of speeds of 32 knots with a crew of 1500 personnel.

Delhi Class Guided Missile Destroyer The Delhi Class design, for which Russia's Severnoye Design Bureau (SDB) acted as a consultant, are hybrids of Western and Russian technology - incorporating elements of the Sovremenny Class destroyer and the Rajput Class (Kashin-II) destroyer with the locally-designed Godavari Class frigate, including the frigate's most unique aspect, namely the large dual helicopter hangar for two Sea King Mk.42B helicopters.

"Respected citizens of Russia! Dear Friends!

In a few minutes we will meet new, 2006 year.

These minutes always unite the people of our huge country, because each of us remembers the past, thinks about the future and hopes, of course, for the best.

Evaluating the events of the passing year, we think above all of our relatievs, of family, of how we lived the year through.

From the lives of each of us, really, the destiny of the country is formed.

It can be bravely said that, passing into history 2005 year in whole was a positive year for us almost in all directions and convincingly proved that: we can achieve quite a lot. We, of course, have enough of problems, and we know that we can only solve them by ourselves.

We have big, very serious plans in economics and social sphere. We will strenghten the defensive capasity of Russia and in very broad meaning of the word - defend the interests of our citizens. And we will do it.

New Years - is one of our most loved celebrations. It is kind, despite the winter weather, really a warm celebartion. It unites us around the most important valuables: our love to our children, to our parents, to our relatives, to our home, to our country.

Many bright celebration days are ahead of us.

Happyness to You!

Happy New Years!!!"

OOC: No I did not make that up.

If the Russian President can say that then the Pope can take over Italy.
