I miss the speculation discussions so I’m making a thread to see everyone’s ideas on what they’d like to see come to Civ 7. What are five civs for each age that you’d like to see added? Feel free to go as in depth as you’d like. I chose not to include any civs already datamined.

Antiquity
1. Babylon
2. Tiwanaku
3. Pueblo
4. Gaul
5. Ghana
6. Garamantes

Exploration
1. Taino
2. Haudenosaunee
3. Italy
4. Edo
5. Swahili
6. al-Andalus

Modern
1. Brazil
2. Navajo
3. Durrani
4. Oyo
5. Netherlands
6. Guarani

To me, the top six from each era would look something like this:

Antiquity:
Assyria or Babylon
Ghana
Nazca or Tiwanaku
Norse
Silla Korea
Tuʻi Tonga

Exploration:
Aztec
Edo Japan
Portugal
Seljuk
Swahili
Taino

Modern:
Brazil
Cherokee or Navajo
Ethiopia
Maori
Netherlands
Ottomans

These are the ones I consider a priority, especially to address some of the most glaring gaps in the game right now. In my ideal world, I’d want at least 20 more civs per era — not counting the ones we already have in the game.

I disregarded the leak and only included the civs I see as most needed right now. I don’t see Dai Viet as a priority at the moment, even if it seems to be on the way in the coming months. In the game’s current state, I’d personally prefer if they didn’t touch Southeast Asia or the Indian Subcontinent until other regions got more representation. Not even Qajar I consider a priority now, since we already have Mughal and Nepal nearby.

Antiquity:
Gauls
Babylon
Ghana
Moche
Silla Korea
Hittites

Exploration:
Bohemia
Kievan Rus
Aztecs
Byzantines
Denmark/Sweden
Shogunate Japan

Modern:
Netherlands
Argentina
Austria
Turks
Zulus
Ethiopia

Antiquity:
Teotihuacan / Olmecs
Scythia
Hittites
Harappa
Kushite Empire
Yamato

Exploration:
Dutch Republic
Timurids
Aztecs
Holy Roman Empire
Tokugawa Japan
Gondar

Modern:
Brazil
Belgium
Austria
Haiti
Ethiopia
Vietnam

Some polities are hard to pick an Era-based time-frame for: the Ottomans technically fit into both Exploration and Modern, and although their "golden age" was in the Exploration era more or less, they lasted longer than the Mughals, which are (a strange but kind of understandable choice to round out the Indian cross-era line) Modern. It's times like these that make me wonder if a Medieval Age would be the best era addition for the political and cultural dynamics it'd enable, even if it'd come with a lot of pacing issues in a game that already feels sluggish in Modern. I'd love to see, for example, the Guptas as well as the Tang or Song dynasty—and people could finally have their much-desired early modern England civ. On the other hand, it'd put some Antiquity civs like Khmer and Mississippians in an even more awkward position.

Antiquity:
- Hittites
- Nuraghe
- Minoans
- Ghana
- Judah
- Xiongnu

Exploration:
- Burgundy
- Gokturks
- Aztec
- Taino
- Morroco
- Florence

Modern:
- Modern Greece
- Metis
- Phillippines
- USSR
- Gran Columbia
- Alawiyya

For antiquity I went with civs that I'd personally like to see rather than ones I see getting in. Exploration and Modern were more for filling out the roster with missing links. The biggest pet peeve of mine is the leaders in this game who don't have their home civ in the game. I understand not every leader needs their civ (Charlemagne works fine with Normans/France for example), but leaders like Simon Bolivar and Jose Rizal feel half complete without them imo. I also went with Greece and Alawiyya (Modern Egypt) to give rep to these regions beyond ancient times.

I would of saved the USSR and Modern Egypt for a Cold War era (Atomic?).
The Alawiyya dynasty was founded in Egypt in 1805, around the time Mexico, Siam, and Qajar Iran were founded. The USSR does make more sense in a future era but I made this assuming there wouldn't be one. Its more of a wildcard pick anyway. In-game Russia is very Soviet-coded already as is

Most of this is already in my signature haha, but thinking of which modern civs I'd like to see was interesting - it's the age I know least about so had to do a bit of googling to brush up on what some countries were up to between 1700-1950ish

Antiquity:
- Calusa
- Dorset
- Gaul
- Nasca
- Scythia
- Teotihuacan

Exploration:
- Iceland
- Ireland (If we can have Prussia and Russia in modern, why not Iceland and Ireland in exploration :P)
- Morocco
- Postclassic Maya
- Republic of Pirates
- Zimbabwe

Modern:
- Haudenosaunee
- Iceland (Kingdom of)
- Madagascar
- New Zealand/Aotearoa
- Philippines
- Switzerland

If not including ones we're probably already getting:
Exploration: Georgia, Venice
Modern: Austria-Hungary

These are meant to be in addition to the civs coming in RtR:

Antiquity
1. Tiwanaku (or Nazca or Moche)
2. Gauls
3. Goths
4. Ife (or Wagadou)
5. Hittites
6. Tu’i Tonga

Exploration
1. Mexica
2. English (or Scottish, or Capetian France)
3. Bohemian (or Burgundian, or the Hansa, or the Holy Roman Empire)
4. Byzantines
5. Kilwa
6. Shogunate (or just Edo) Japan

Modern
1. Comanche
2. Colombia
3. Austria(-Hungary)
4. Ashanti (or Sokoto)
5. Ottoman (or Turkish)
6. Māori

I picked these based on a few criteria. In particular I didn’t want certain civs carrying too many leaders and therefore springing up too often, like the Normans. That means that things are bit more Eurocentric than I’d like but I’d rather see both more variety in playthroughs AND less leaders completely mismatched with civs. I also tried to create fuller if still stretched regional paths (Mesoamerica, the Andes, West Africa, East Africa, Polynesia).
