Suggestion for Game of the Month Announcements

@AlanH

I've just published an updated list with additions and corrections, and with a reduced preamble. There are a few points that are not fully resolved, but it feels like the time is right to take this to the next stage, and a combination of RL and an Epic BOTM won't leave me any time to look at it again for a while.

Please feel free to edit/move/rename as you see fit, but don't let this distract you from the more important work on the server upgrade - there's no hurry.

Cheers, psparky

Thanks, psparky :goodjob:

The new server is pretty well set now, so I can get back to normal duties. I'll take a look at your revised version and work out the best way to display it and link to it.

1. I have copied your post to a new sticky thread here.

2. A link to it is now installed in the Release page template, in the Software Versions section, so every Release page on the GOTM site includes it automatically.

3. I'll encourage the game designers to add the link to future game announcement posts.

4. You are still the author of the copied post, so if you wish to update it you can do so yourself, or you can ask a moderator to do it.

In Vanilla (but not WL or BtS) the great person lightbulb priority is such that if you skip Masonry, you can use a Great Prophet to lightbulb Civil Service relatively early.

I'd suggest trying to format it as a table, where each row is a feature, and then the columns are the behaviours in Vanilla, Warlords, and BtS.

2 GPros can bulb theo and then most of CS if you do not know Monarchy also. Fairly early.

Thanks for the input guys. Would the following be accurate?

For vanilla:

  • Bulbing priority means Great Prophet can bulb Civil Service (avoid Masonry) and Theology (avoid Masonry & Monarchy) fairly early

@ZPV - I thought about using a table, but I didn't think it would work very well (and would be harder to maintain while lots of changes were being made). If my assumption that most people know BtS best is wrong, or for differences where the BtS behaviour is not well known, then a table would be better. But otherwise, I think using a table would make the whole thing bigger, and would mean, for example, that a vanilla-only difference would be in the way of someone only interested in WL.

Anyhow, if you fancy having a go at reformatting it to a table and it works, I'll either add it as an alternative or even replace the list format.

Cheers, psparky

Not quite.
a) Masonry is a prerequisite of Theology :p
b) avoiding Monarchy blocks Divine Right and opens up Civil Service for the Great Prophet in all versions.
