Suggestions and Requests

Wild Suggestion:

Have some situational diplomatic bonuses and maluses (declared war, negotiated a trade embargo, spy causing trouble, fair and fortright trades etc.) not only decay over time but also be tied to the civilization's form of government. I'm thinking situations where you've subdued your rival and installed a puppet leader (like forcing your own civics on them) or doing an espionage mission to start a coup (change civic espionage mission) to install a friendly regime. For example Nazi Germany invading France and forcing Fascist civics on them would be reflected so that the negative maluses from declaring war are negated because you've installed a "friendly puppet leader" in charge. In the previous example it'd make sense that the leaders of French Republic would hold grudge over the war while the French Fascists would be sympathetic as they gained power as a result and share a similar ideology with Nazi Germany. Could also make it possible for the US to go on a crusade to "spread democracy" around the world? And speaking of crusades, maybe this mechanic could also work similarly with state religions?

Obviously my suggestion is very much roleplay driven and I've not given much thought about the gameplay part but heck, this is the suggestions thread afterall!

I don’t know if there has already been such a proposal, is it possible to make sure that stability affects the amount of gold received by a power? A more stable society means higher taxes and vice versa.

Alternatively, a stability commerce slider, assuming it's possible to add new commerce sliders.

It would allow more side game and passive civilizations to get richer, which is historically accurate as many of them (like the Japanese, Ethiopians, kinda Mali) were commercially strong and important during various times of history.
For example, Roman wealth trade with Ethiopia and India, Japan at ancient times which had very successful trade routes, some centuries of peace in China, and American civilizations which had enormous wealth, even if their coins were cacao beans and not gold pebbles.

Thus, it would provide an incentive for them to establish contact and trade with other civilizations, to use their gold.
That way their commercial importance would be represented, as it would be not much of a problem for civilizations like Rome to sell a bit of resources or old tech for shiny gold.
So these trade routes would benefit everyone and will be very active in game.

Hi, I have a few questions and suggestions that I wanted to voice, it's a bit of a mishmash.

are you planning on adding new religions with the new map? (Also pagans)
I might have a few ideas if such changes are welcomed.

In the new map, will the Byzantines be able to stop Ottoman spawn by defeating the Turks?
What will happen to the Byzantine core in the process?

And no one responded last time I asked this, so I think I will post my question again if it's fine.

Is adding Greece to the Byzantine core a thing that can be implemented in the new map? Because as I said earlier it's a bit weird and not historically accurate to not have it there.
Maybe the idea behind this was that it would weaken the Byzantines, so Constantinople is the only core city...
But the Byzantines only lost it just a short time before Constantinople fell, and the Peloponnese actually stayed independent for some time, kingdom of the Morea.
And modern Greece, of course.

I tried to really write it short as I already posted that, but haven't got any response...
Hope it's not rude

Major religions no. For civ specific pagan religions we are not lacking in ideas but art assets.

Play to find out :)

The same as on the current map.

If I understand correctly cores aren't perfectly fitted to the historical presence of the civ, just arbitrarily large enough to simulate its expansion. So for example China has a relatively small core because it needs to just be able to expand enough to fill the rest of China before facing serious expansion penalty.

Obviously a Chinese core limited to a part of China isn't without correspondance to its history, but the bigger concern is that if all of China was its core it could just expand to all of Asia. Gameplay trumps historicity here.

I played for the Celts on a new map, founded new cities in Ireland, Scotland and Wales, but having lost all the lands on the mainland I was immediately defeated

That's exactly it - looking for consistency for cores by any historical standard does not make sense. It makes a lot more sense to compare civilizations while looking at what kind of empire they can sustain before instability becomes a concern.

Don't play on the new map. It's not ready to be played on. I have said this multiple times. Also there is a dedicated thread for discussing the new map and this is not it. If you cannot handle access to the map branch responsibly I will withdraw it.

Can the american conqueror event be optional? Its a bit of a mess accidentaly triggering it when im not interested on peruvian/mexican land

Well, you know where America is, you can just not explore it if you don't want it. You can still do first circumnavigation by sailing around Antarctica.

When I don't want to conquer Mexico or Peru, I just win a few battles for the GG experience and disband the units. Means your rivals can't conquer them now.
