Suggestions and Requests

Yes. A good effect that suits the wonder and is worth it would be what is needed to add this wonder. I am aware of the art and I like it.

Speaking of wonders and art, does anyone know if there is a wonder/project movie for the Great Firewall around here somewhere? I vaguely remember a mod that had it but I couldn't find it in the usual suspects. I think that's a good thing to add as a unique project.

Here it is (I think)

Platyping, of course. Thank you.

"Floralis Generica" - Wonder suggestion - Social service / Ecology / Tourism tech
+2 Great artist points per turn
(builds 50/100 % faster with IRON/IRON+COAL/ALUMINUM/RARE EARTHS) - Wonder's structure is made of stainless steel, but as there is no aluminum in argentina I would suggest IRON+COAL

effects -
- +1 GPP and +1 culture per Nature reserve/ Marine reserve, throughout the territory of this Civ
- Nature reserve/ Marine reserve get +1 culture/wealth.
- Enable Create Marine Reserve in "Coast Arctic" tiles without Resource using the Work boat unit, inside the cultural borders of this Civ (I don't know if that's the name of this base terrain, but it's the coast that doesn't produce 1 food)

As the national parks in argentina https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sistema_Nacional_de_Áreas_Protegidas_(Argentina), are an institution created by law, maybe it would be possible to put this Wonder in the tech social service, that would make the wonder be util for longer, and help the argentine Civ to complete the second UHV that is to reach legendary culture in Buenos Aires.

The production of GPP would help to generate the great persons, which are necessary to obtain the GAs of the third UHV.

As the national parks in argentina are a tourist attraction, I thought about giving +1 culture or wealth to these tiles with the reserves to make them a little better.
Or, just give the +1 culture per reserve in the city that builds the wonder to help the capital Buenos Aires complete its second UHV.

I think the idea of allowing to create marine reserve in "artic coast" tiles without resource would be interesting, as it would allow the tip of Patagonia on the map to become an interesting area, because as these artic coast tiles do not produce food, and the other nearby tiles are tundras or hills, this would be an area, uninteresting / very food poor, but with this wonder cities like RioGalegos / Punta Arenas / Ushuaia, would become cities that could contain several tiles with reserves (in the forested tundra hills and in the arctic coasts), and if the player builds the national park these cities would have several specialists. This would make southern Patagonia very attractive, as the extra culture/GPP in the capital Buenos Aires would greatly help Argentine Civ to complete its UHV and this in an area that would be almost undesirable to found cities.

Fun fact: According to Wikipedia, 11.9% of the land surface and 4.9% of the marine surface in Argentina are reserves/protected areas. https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Áreas_naturales_protegidas_de_Argentina

Not that I could say right now, but that doesn't mean there aren't any. Just have a look through the available wonders to see where the gaps are.

That document looks like it's still up to date, but I cannot guarantee that there weren't a few things changed. Also late in the development of that linked thread there were additional wonders added that might not be reflected there.

If someone wants to double check that document, it would be helpful. Maybe we should also add a "region" column that lists a very broad region (like Europe, Middle East, Subsahara, East Asia...). Are privileges required for editing/suggesting?

Yeah, the document can't be edited of commented upon right now. Some of the tabs are not fully up to date (for instance Las Lajas is in the main list, but the Civilizations tab has 0 wonders for Colombia). Also, it's unclear what most of the color-coding means.

That is also unclear to me.

I want a Joseon Korean wonder. Gyeongbok/Changdeokgung? Can't think of a good synergetic effect yet.

I feel like Safavid Iran needs another wonder. Or is that just me? Shah Mosque or Bridge of 33 Arches?

I also think Scandinavia needs more wonders pre-Industrial. Kalmar Castle and Copernicus' Observatory, perhaps?

Here's the updated spreadsheet.

Only the main tab is updated. It was missing two wonders: Chapultepec Castle and Château Frontenac. I also added new info to the table: great people, and more details on the requirement (state religion, city religion, other). I checked from the XML file but there may be a few mistakes.

I believe that flying from Iceland to Ireland should be possible. Around this time period historically Iceland was seen as strategically important because of its location in the Atlantic https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_invasion_of_Iceland and I was able to fly from St. John's to Reykjavik. Why can't I then go Reykjavik -> Dublin

It should be possible for actual WW2 era aircraft.

While I was looking for graphics for a wonder I wanted to suggest I found this instead-

Natural Disasters

I know disasters are already in base BTS but this concept is interesting, each tile sees a 10% chance of disasters spawning every turn and different kinds of disasters also have specific effects/artwork though if this was going to be included maybe the base BTS disasters would need to be removed.

I also wonder if certain disasters could be coded to happen at certain times- like Barbarians. The Little Ice Age for example will see more events in the Northern Hemisphere while antiquity up to 500 CE could be milder. Not sure how any relation between Global Warming/Disasters could be programmed. (maybe just more disasters in the late 20th century?).

10% per turn seems really high. 1/10 eligible tiles would spawn a disaster every turn. I know it can feel like that from watching the news XD, but that seems like too much

That was the base mod that might have been made for generic maps. I could imagine 2% or even 1% making more sense, but I wonder if Python would allow for certain centuries to have a greater percentage of disasters, maybe going up to 5%.

Edit: On second thought it looks like this mod has many bugs right now. But the idea was still fascinating.
