Sukritact's Events and Decisions

Hey there, another question - do you plan to add any Modern Decisions in post the Steam Power Public Transportation one? I feel that this would flesh the late-game out a lot.

I'm happy to suggest away - but I'm thinking of things like Ecologically Sustainable Fishing, Thorium Reactors, Breeding Programs, Disease Research, Pollution Taxes, Foreign Aid, Digitized Law Systems, Immigration, State Funded Broadcasting Services etc.

There were plans for Ideology-dependent decisions that would take care of the late game, but I don't know if Sukritact has willingness or time to include them.

Yeah, I've gotten sort of lazy. But people are welcome to make their own modmods that add decisions!

Not sure if this is something you had been aware of, but I got the Sandstorm event. I chose the option that let me get a free archaeologist, who I sent to examine the site that popped up. When it came time to choose landmark or item, it gave me neither. Just a bunch of text lines saying something like "flubby" for a few rows. I could not choose anything and since the game makes you choose before continuing, it basically shut down the game. I restarted and thankfully got a different event next time. Just an FYI, that there is a bug with that event.

I've been having this problem too. Every time that Event pops up now, I just reload my last Autosave and it gives me a different Event.

I wonder if this is not so much due to the event but as to the way that the game handles artifact sites. Within the game code, artifact sites are a "resource" (much like Iron or Gold or the like), which is how the Event turns up a new site -- by spawning a new copy of the resource on the tile. However, the game normally spreads about artifact sites upon the discovery of Archeology, presumably based on things like where battles occurred in the past or where barbarian camps where. I'm guessing that the code might assign data to the sites when they're spread about, so that when you dig up an artifact it has information on what kind of artifact it is (who it belongs to, how old it is, etc.). An artifact site spawned artificially by code like that used in the Sandstorm event may not contain this data, causing errors when you try to convert it into a landmark or artifact.

If this is true, it's a bit unfortunate, since I wanted to use something similar as a decision for one of my own civs. I may have to come up with a "fake" artifact site for the time being...

I don't know if this has been mentioned earlier but I found a possible exploit with the year 1054 comet event where you can choose to get either 2 free GAs or 1 free GS. I saved my game on the turn that event occured and when I later loaded my save the event came up again and I could choose to get more great people! Just to try it I saved and reloaded once more and now my civ has received 4 great artists and a great scientist for free. :p

Thanks for the info, I'll either modify or disable the event in the next update.

I'll see what I can do.

I wonder if there's anywhere I can see the full list of events and decisions, at least for Firaxis civs? Though I wouldn't mind seeing the events for modded civs, either.

Nice mod! This really could be a true unofficial expansion to Civ 5 and it really does add a whole new layer to the game. And not just to Civs but also to religions, it opens up each Civ so much more then there is currently.
I don't know if I can go back to playing vanilla BNW now.

One thought bubble for the Huns. For the Demand Ransom Decision I feel like it would be approriate if the gold you receive also had some happiness or luxury bonus attached to it.

After all much of the gold that the Huns ransomed from the Romans was used to craft jewelry which the Hunnic people loved.

A couple things I noticed. The request services of a great person doesn't increase the cost of the great person on the counters. I guess that is an intended decision but you probably need to decide if that is the best for game balance or if it is overpowered. What do others think?

Also the Theodossian Walls wonder didn't immediately put a walls around the city visually so until I reloaded the map I think. Not a game breaking bug but its a possible glitch.

I'm encountering an intereting conflict between Civ IV Leader Traits and Events and Decisions when using modded civs. Specifically, JFD modded civs that theoretically support both mods are behaving as if they have no leader traits support. Their traits neither appear in the UI nor work in the game...but decisions work fine.

Any idea where I might start looking to figure out what is causing the conflict?

So, I'm playing a game as Egypt, first game with decisions- and maybe it's cause I picked a historical religions religion (which says it has support for decisions), but... neither my Egypt Specific nor Religion Specific decisions are appearing? I'm in the medieval era, as a note.

If you have a saved game, please get me your lua logs.

The Lua log file is... pretty much empty. [51207.625] Initializing Lua 5.1.4 is the only message.

I'll see what I can do.

I just had a sandstorm event to. I had no choice in this one it just gave me the free dig site. I had it excavated and got this error too.
Also I noticed that factories are yielding 5 production instead of the normal 4. I haven't made the 'Nationalise the Utilities' decision but im assuming that there's an error in the code that is applying the bonus of the decision automatically.
Maybe someone else can confirm if they have see this as well. Should happen from the moment you get a factory and note the Civilopedia description hasn't changed

Ah, duh...

...

My doing this seems to have intimidated it into giving me Psedjet's decisions. None for Egypt, though...

Anyways, after 30+ turns of playing and enacting a /lot/ of decisions... still no Egypt decisions, and still only the one line in the Lua Log.

Have you enabled logging? It MUST have output if you the panel is working properly.

I set enable logging = 1 so...

Nevermind I'm stupid and missed part of the instructions. TAKE TWO.

Still no logs. I give up.

So I enacted their peace decision and now I cannot declare war against the civilization in quest AT ALL. It's been over 50 turns and I've been waiting for the peace treaty that was never in place to expire so I could finalize my conquest but there DECLARE WAR has disappeared. It's really frustrating because I've literally surrounded his capital in citadels, put up 8 cannons aimed at his city and have no ability to conquer it... It's really silly. :/
