So I just started a new game and got handed this start. Turned out to be playable at prince difficulty after getting encampment and using units to pick off a settler and then another city.

So of course I figured some of you would want to play it:

Map: Terra
Size: Small
Game Seed = 209738326
Map Seed = 209738327

Files uploads are at prince and deity levels respectively.

I am now playing similar start as Cree and a lot of depends what is outside mountains, if it is only 1 ring of mountains or a solid cluster. In my game i have only a few workable tiles, but still doable :) Have fun to everyone

How is this do able or fun? You cant get out any settlers, units , traders, workers etc. What am i missing?

Good question. Even if you buy tiles over the mountains and they are hills or flat, when you buy or produce a settler it will still pop up in your city, won't it? Doesn't this mean you are stuck until you can build tunnels?

You have to conquer everything you need. Beeline bronze working, maybe ally a local CS and levy its troops.

Ah, like that, that actually makes sense : ) That could be a cool challenge indeed. In fact, you only need to take one city and you could play peaceful again.

You basically have to beeline encampments and then start conquering a neighbor/city state. If you are able to do that it is quite winnable and might be an interesting challange.

would be fun to get this in a mp game, if someone is aiming for a domination victory (I don't play mp but I assume there's a 500% chance of this)

Isn't this 100% chance of classical dark era? Loyalty pressure (little growth, no ammenities) after taking encampment early is game over before medieval era starts

You might be able to increase the chance of this happening in future Terra maps by setting world age to low and sea level to high.

Not sure how exactly Civ VI chooses start positions, but if it's anything like Civ V then it's possible that your starting spot was actually a mountain that got flattened into grassland as a last resort.

tried this on emperor for fun... not doable... if you go north with encampment, the civ there is just too well established you can't conquer, plus you're gonna go dark age, killer. if you go east with encampment, you'll be able to get the city you need from one of the civs there, but then won't be able to keep it because of loyalty, even if you get a normal age.

I think this has to be king in order to have a chance. Will try it again.

EDIT: Maybe should mention that I'm playing with Jadwiga

I have a question regarding these types of start: I see that people talk about capturing a settler, but if you build a settler in your capital and then build another settler, won't one of them be catapulted over the mountains to an empty tile outside if you force next turn? I thought there was a mechanism to prevent stacking of units of the same time that would do something like that.

Hmmm... not that I know of, no. I've had multiple melee or ranged units in one city before, and they weren't bumped out no; But I couldn't use the units to attack as long as they were on the same tile ! Never actually tried what would happen with a 3rd or a 4th unit though !

In my 1st tryout of this game I badly timed a unit creation and wound up with a warrior and a slinger both on my useless city tile ;-)

Ok, maybe this rule only applies if there's an empty tile outside the city, or maybe I just got the wrong impression about it.

So succeeded in doing this on King. Was fun. Loyalty issue was still existent, but with some work I was able to get through it. And then, well... I usually play immortal, so the rest of the game became rather easy, but it's on a small map, so not too long ;-)

Thx for the seeds, enjoyed this

I bet there's a few civs that could do it. Russia might be my first choice, so you have tiles to work instantly.

Possible yes ... for my part, I'm working on a victory with ALL leaders, and had only 4 left to do before that game... Jad, Lautaro, Chandra and Ghandi ! So that limited my choices ;-)
