okey - here starts our glorious empire.

1- move SW to spices and river. worker goes SE to mine BG.
2- London is built! start a curragh. go for WRITING @ 20%.
3-6 zzz
7- worker finishes mine, roads same tile.
8- curragh out and going east. start another (in 5).
9- first contact :eek: the Russkies are on our land!! meet a scout.
we are up Alpha and Spices. They are up BW and Wines
10- worker finishes road. goes SE to road forest spices.
11- we expand. curragh finds 2 vinyards in the near E (about 5 tiles)
12- second curragh out and gone SW. london starts settler (in 10, grow in 8).
i gamble that Cathy wont try anything funny right now, as there is still room for expanding.
13-15 zzz
16- spotted russian borders. they are about 8 tiles to our immediate south.
17- starting suicide run with curragh # 2 - due west from our waters.
18- completed tour of territorial waters. we have a medium sized island, we are at the warm north, with Cathy is the freezing south. i expect trouble soon.
20- suicide curragh still lives!! other curragh is heading back E to go NE.

summary
we met the russians. we have Alpha & Spices, they have BW & wines.
we find nearby wines.
Science - writing in 31 @ 20%.
GPT - +6 and we have 96g.
settler is out in a few. i think we should run him into city one placement.
other optional cities are on pic. these are ofcourse only very sketchy - will have to see where cathy plants her towns.

Apparently, we are way behind Russia in tech. They are up Bronze Working, Warrior Code, and Ceremonial Burial. They have 35 Gold, and we have 92.
London's happiness is at a halt. We have 1 happy, 1 content, and 1 sad. One more sad and we're in disorder. However, we have a settler being produced, so we have no worries...yet.

Suicide Curragh being sent out further...spots land!
Worker to irrigate tile.
Second Curragh to see unexplored tiles.

Russia seems to have settled a new city, and their conscript warrior is heading towards us, undefended :( The city is St. Petersburg, according to diplo screen.
London: Settler -> Archer in 7 (to get rid of Warrior)

TURN 3
Settler to "City 2" location, because it's closer. Will arrive in two turns.
Suicide Curragh explores on island...it seems to be uninhabited.

Home-based galley spots island to the north of the two-tile barbarian island.
Suicide Curragh Island has a lot of wheat!

Ask Cathy to move them, but she says it's nothing. Move Worker away from harm, just in case, and change Archer (in 5) production to Warrior (in 2), just in case.
Settle "Gold Hills" on "City 2" spot. Begin on Worker (5).
Home-based Curragh finds another two-tile island to the north.

Renew Peace Treaty w/ Russia for 1 GPT and 62 G. Hope to be incentive to stop attack.
Worker starts to road last spice.
Two-tile island turns out to be 3-tile: one mountain, one forest, on plains.
Russians declare war. Take London. @#$%!!!!!1


WHAT NOW?!
Well, we can either do one of who things:
1) Try to retake the poorly garrisoned London
2) Board the Time Machine and completely erase my set of turns, starting over and buying Bronzeworking immediately from Russia and change Settler to Spearman.

...or we could, and should, have built Curragh, Warrior, Curragh, Settler, Granary etc.! We have no military units, so we're wide open. Should certainly have switched to the Warrior as soon as we knew we weren't alone.

as she has 2 cities (correction :( 3 cities) and we have 1, we will end up hopefully with 4. lets put those shields to good violent use.

Right now? We're stuffed. Cathy, who has WC, and almost certainly a couple extra troops, will be heading for an undefended city. Best we can hope for is switching to a Warrior there and trying for peace every turn.

It's drastic, but I think the only real course of action we have is to re-roll a new map and start all over again.

taking a deep breath.
just played first 20, again :mischief:
we seem to be in a much better position (safety-wise)

nothing overly eventful happened:

tech for WRI @ 10%

3300 bc we pop a hut for CB. we also meet Rome.
3000 bc we meet Carthage.

both are up on us - BW, MAS ans WC.

lucky thing is - they are both on the same island, which is NOT ours :D

and the survey shows us to be the richest nation. see - we already are on our way.

i think the map speaks for itself, lux-wise.
