I didn't think you could settle on marshes.
Is there a boat nearby that can move the "iron cutters"?

you CANT settle on the marsh. thats why the chain gang is busy clearing it.
under those pikes are about 6 workers.

there's a boat on the right of the choke, just waiting.
there is also a boat en route on the "right" side of the iron, with a knight and settler.

Rush some Knights

Nice progress on whacking the Japs. They have only stray troops making futile attempts at counter attacking. It's just a matter of moving around and razing. A lot of the builds we will not put in use before this is over. I do think the troops we already have will suffice used in a somewhat proper way. The Army is at snailpace but that's for securing the E cats. The W stack o horses + knights will take care of Nara (W of Kyoto) then they could either go for Kyoto directly or aid army in E campaign. Then march together for the capital.
Oh, and there might be some slaves on automove. Forgot about them for awhile but have started them on their way N to fill up productive cities.

Pre-turn – Wake a German slave that was irrigating.

460 (1) – Lose a horse attacking a longbow. -_- Rush a few things, including a settler. Move troops towards Nara and Shimonoseki.

IBT – Longbow attacks and retreats our horse.

470 (2) – Bombard and kill the 2 spears and redlined longbow in Shimonoseki. Raze it…but now the cats are unguarded…also capture another cat. Hmm, I don’t see anything in the rules that says we can’t keep captured artillery, so I keep it.

Kill a spear in Nara.

IBT – No movement from Japan whatsoever. We get some new stairs for the palace. Japan has begun Sun Tzu’s.

480 (3) – Bombard and redline the spear in Nara, which is still showing. Then, it goes on to kill 2 Knights, and redlines two others before it is killed! Raze Nara. I’ll send these guys back to Guarda to heal.

Whoa, why is Leira building wealth?

490 (4) – Kill two spears in Kagoshima and raze it…didn’t even need the cats (army lost 3 hp, down to 7/13).

Found Badajoz at the choke (I thought this was going to be done on Dag’s turns?) to allow ships to travel through.

Upgrade two horses. Send a bunch of Knights towards Kyoto. I’m hoping to take this out without needing the army.

IBT – Another palace expansion. This time, I decide on spires on the sides of the stairs. Japanese start Sun Tzu’s…again.

500 (5) – Kill a Japanese archer out in the open. Kyoto has a pike in it. Maybe I won’t be able to take it.

510 (6) – Capture Izumo without taking any damage (except for a Knight that lost 1 hp from a cat). Japan has 2 cities left.

Next turn I’ll have 9 Knights, 1 MDI, and 3 Horses attacking Kyoto. I think I can take it. Unless Toku’s got like 10 Pikes in the city. *crosses fingers* Sapporo should fall in 2 or 3 turns.

520 (7) – Whoops, forgot to raze Izumo…<_< Thank god it didn’t flip.

Attack on Kyoto: First Knight dies, doing no damage and promoting the Pike. Second retreats, but brings pike to 2/4. 3rd Knight takes 2 damage killing the pike. A spear is showing! :D Knight dies redlining it. :( Next Knight retreats doing no damage to the spear. Next knight retreats doing 2 damage to the spear. The 2/4 pike is showing. Redline it, but die. Kill the 2/4 spear. MDI kills the redlined pike. A redlined spear is showing. Kill it with an elite horse, and we capture Kyoto! It’s got the ToA, but I’m not going to risk keeping it when I don’t have to.

Kyoto is razed.

IBT – The Japanese request peace. Heh, no. Then they start Knights Templar in their only city, which has a 7/13 army next to it.

530 (8) – The army kills 2 spears and a longbow, capturing Sapporo.

540 (9) – We achieve a Conquest Victory in AD 540 after 17 hours, 27 minutes, 13 seconds. Final score: 8501

It didn't show up in my HoF, though. Was this modded?

Here's the save at the end of 530.

Great game, guys. :)

WOW! That was a rout! Nice going everyone!

Wow, now that ended rather quickly :). Those rules didn't turn out to be too restrictive at all.

Lurker comment: thanks for the great tale. I am confused by all the razing of Japan. Wasn't that verbotten?

 Oops.....yes it was occam. Some may have autorazed? Yeah that's the ticket.

I only mentioned it since I was quite intrigued as to how Japan would be pacified without razing, something I wanted to study. I meant no disrespect. Cheers, and quite entertaining.
