SW7 - losers of the world unite!

preturn, i move some troops. and some workers. own - this isnt a finished turn.
keep sliders at max, but will have to lower sci in a very short while.
wish we could declare... i hold my piece and wait.

IBT-
1- Lislambon Horse > cat,
i move a horse to explore some more in the south. i want to know what the yellowskins are doing.

IBT-
2- were broke.
join slave into Whiskers.
start roading towards to new holdings.
lower sci.

IBT-
3- Lislambon cat > settler,

IBT-
4- moves. connected Colombra and working on Rome.

IBT-
5- Coimbra worker > cat,
had to lower sci all the way to 40. cons now in 4.

IBT- some serious good came from the horse scout. see legions of german bows rushing south towards japan.
6- Lislambon settler > horse, Whiskers rax > horse, Benfica horse > settler,

IBT-
7- Oporto horse > settler,

IBT-
8- Emerita cat > cat,
tweedle my thumps, hire a beakerhead and get next turn.

IBT- CONSTRUCTION is in > FEUDALISM. (40% in 25. 0gpt)
9- Sagres cat > cat,
the love me. we get a door and a balcony.
more moves. some MM so we wont lose money.
decide we have enough troops right no so focous on markets. so i change LamLisbon to one.
next cities should finish settlers and start markets.

IBT-
10- Build Leiria > cat,
builing it upped our gpt form 0 to 9.
MORE SETTLERS are needed, and we have 2+ sure spots near germany.

We can, can't we? There nothing in this game's rules about declaring war, just how we fight it.

look what i have dug up from the deepest reaches of the earth...
the rules said:
War: Under Anarchy: no upgrading and none of your units may attack. Under Despotism: no upgrading, and you may not attack outside your cultural borders. Also, no war declarations allowed. Under Republic/Democracy, you have a free hand -- within the limits of what your people will tolerate, of course.
and then i read it again

which means next up.... :spank: the gerries please.

I'm not done yet, I've got a question about volcanoes:

Pre-turn – Nothing.

IBT – Oporto riots…hmm.

730 (1) – Benfica is also unhappy. Hmm…Germany outnumbers us…we’ve only got 10 horsemen…plus, there’s a German galley up by Sagres, and there’s only a warrior and a horse within range. Oh well!
Capture Veii without loss. We now have iron in our borders.

710 (2) – Benfica settler->horse. Move units towards Heidelburg. Reveal an archer by Konigsberg. Let’s hope he doesn’t cause problems…

IBT – Archer attacks horse on volcano, and dies, but redlines the horse. The same volcano also becomes active…maybe I should forget about this town and let the volcano take care of it for us…

What are the chances of the volcano destroying Heidelburg, and would it be worth it to skip this town and head for Leipzig or Konigsberg? Heidelburg's on hills, too, so I really wouldn't mind not attacking this town with horses.

Run Forrest, run!! I've never had a city taken out by lava. Isn't more lava by Konigsberg? I'm inclined to say avoid Heidelburg and see if it gets destroyed since the city placement stinks anyhow. I think Konigsberg then Leipzig

I also didn't want to take the city, THEN it gets hit by lava.

I was thinking of hitting Leipzig first, since it would be quicker to position the troops without attacking across a river. There's a river running behind Konigsberg, so it would be 3 turns before we could attack safely.

Normally I wouldn't care that much about a river, but with only 10 horses, we can't afford many losses.

Sorry, SW. I had already played that turn by the time you responded.

690 (3) – Looking at Germany’s city placement, I decide to head for Leipzig. From there, on to Konigsberg, then Hamburg, then Berlin (subject to change).
Move the redlined horse by Heidelburg back to Veii. Move a healed horse from Veii to the hill west of the German Archer.
Move workers to hill with iron. Increase Sci to 40%, shaving 6 turns off Feud.

IBT – Toku demands Math…I don’t really want two wars, but he’s so far away, I doubt he’ll be much trouble. Plus, Japan and Germany are at war already.
The German archer dies without making a scratch on the horse. Germany lands an archer and a warrior by Lislambon…and there’s only a horse to attack.

670 (4) – Oporto settler->horse. Horse by Lislambon kills the archer flawlessly then fortifies in the city. The reg warrior will have to attack across a river if he wants this city.
Kill an archer by Leipzig. I decide to attack Leipzig this turn with 4 horses. 1 is killed and another redlined but the city is captured from the 2 defending spears.

IBT – The warrior by Lislambon redlines our horse, but promotes it. An archer comes from Konigsberg and attacks a horse, but does one damage and promotes him, too.
The resistance in Leipzig ends.
The volcano erupts…but doesn’t take out the city. :(

650 (5) – Rome spear->worker. Coimbra cat->cat. Found Evora.
Leipzig is starving, but I can’t stop it from starving unless I raised the lux. I don’t think the rule means you have to raise the lux to keep citizens from starving, so I don’t.
Otto’s willing to give Frankfurt for peace, but I’ll wait a little longer.
I decide to head for Heidelburg next, then straight down to Konigsburg.

IBT – Archer attacks our horse in Leipzig, redlining but promoting him.

630 (6) – whiskers horse->horse. Kill one spear in Munich with a horse that was exploring, but there’s another spear, so I forget about the city for now. 5 horses and 4 cats will attack Heidelburg next turn.

IBT – Iron is hooked up.

610 (7) – Lislambon market->horse. Sagres cat->cat.
2 of the 4 cats hit. There’s only 2 reg spears in the city, so it shouldn’t pose much trouble. I was wrong. Lose 2 horses (1 elite), and redline another.
Decide to risk taking Konigsberg. Lose another horse, but auto-raze it.
I just realized Japan retook Satsuma from Germany.

Otto is offering Frankfurt, Hamburg, and 6 gold for peace.

590 (8) – Emerita cat->worker. Raise Sci to 50%, shaving another 3 turns off Feud.

570 (9) – Benfica horse->horse. Found Braga and connect the incense, allowing Lux to be lowerd to 0%. Sci is raised to 60%, bringing Feud to 6 turns.

550 (10) – Lislambon horse->settler.

I’d wait one more turn for the rest of the horses in Leipzig to heal, then head for Berlin. There are 3 slaves in Leipzig that I had forgotten until last turn that we couldn’t keep. Either join them into Leipzig (would increase flip chances by a lot), or…do something else with them.

Germany has 4 cities left, so the next person should be able to take them out.

Japan still isn’t talking to us, but I haven’t seen any of his units yet.

lurker's comment: spam, minor apology. Due to recruiting shortages, SW has received an out of zone promotion to "Captain Idiot". Reiterating the apology for the spam, won't do it again. :Rotfl: about the lava lamps :goodjob:

I'm going backpacking this weekend, so I won't be able to play, though war is always fun :p. Maybe dagdha could take his skipped turn now? I'll be back Monday evening US time.

:bump: Should I pick up or is Chez Dagh picking up?
