i think sweden should have gustav vasa as king.

i also think favorite government should be monarchy, we've almost always had a king, even now when we're democratic state we have are king.

i agree that uu should be caroline. some say drafting was invented by the swedish king with the carolines. they should be strong but mostly cheap.

our traits should be militaristic and perhaps scientific. i dont see any reason to have it indoustrios (?).though in C3C it should be perhaps seafaring. i really hope you update the mod for C3C!

THE ruler that we Swedes should have is of course * Birger Jarl * Sweden REALLY started with *HIM* although Gustav Wasa is really important in that he saved Sweden from those early unionists.

We should have had him around at the time of the "Join EU" census.

Dunno if this mod is still being updated by Anime, but seeing as I've just found this nice forum, and Civ3 again, I'll kick some life in the thread.

Industrious is an obvious trait, but scientific? Isn't militaristic or commercial more appropriate? My fav is religous, but that would not fit with Sweden, would it?

Religious actually seems very appropriate to me. Today it's sometimes hard to remember how deeply the "classic" Swedish values are affected by religion, specifically Lutheran values of working hard, not seizing personal glory, etc. Heck, even low-key interior design from Ikea could be argued to be influenced by Lutheran values of simple austere churches rather than decorated Catholic versions.

Also, Gustavus II Adolphus, beside being a military genious that introduced several military principles that are still in practice today, prior to entering the 30 Years War introduced on of the first (if not the first) typically modern propaganda campaigns. Sponsored by the state, numerous publications were put out detailing how evil the Catholics were (throwing babies on fires and whatnot - the usual), resulting in large-scale support of the war and fervent support of the Lutheran church.

Bit of a rant that perhaps, but anyway...
Stuff like this, plus the fact that most of our changes of government have been VERY calm (ie no "Anarchy"), the religious trait would fit very, very well in my opinion.

Militaristic and Scientific would probably work as well, although one could argue that the Scientific trait only has been around for a couple of hundred years, about from the time the Militaristic one went away!

I like the cannon, but the carolin unit with an extra movement makes me drool.

I agree the Carolean unit is the one to go for, although I think an extra defensive point would be more appropriate perhaps.

Yes, to some extent Sweden can be considered to be religious. I still don't think the scientific trait is appropriate though. We don't stand out compared to others.

Nah, I want the carolin unit to have a movement bonus, it would make offensive moves quicker.

it is actually rather easy. militaristic and seafaring of course.
a very good combination. the highlight of swedish history was when sweden was a great empire ruling the baltic sea. mare nostro... give me a reason why not

I'd love too play Swedes (since I'm one too).
Ad the swedish naval base to the list of cities:
* Karlskrona

And instead of an improved cannon as UU, which we don't have any speciall in the Swedish Armed Forces, add either:
* JAS 39 Gripen
* Korvetten Visby
* Karolinerna
* Ubåtsklassen Gotland (submarine)

As these are unique thing for Sweden which counties are intrested to import from us, except Karolinerna.

JAS 39 are already exported to South Africa, Czech Republic, Polish Armed Forces.
Corvette Visby is the first and only truly functional stealth vessel that has been built more than one of (Visby, Helsingborg, Härnösand, Nyköping and Karlstad)
Submarine Gotland is a conventional submarine that has been praised by almost all other countries around the world as an silent and almost impossible sub to detect on a sonar, that is why we have one in USA right now.

I know a lot of swedish officers that whould love to have this mod if the UU is more realistic for the Swedish people.
