Try getting ASTRONOMY from a hut! I've done it several times!

Really, I thought people said Iron Working was the last tech you could get from a hut. Either way, in this screenshot, I already had Astronomy.

Astronomy is the last (most expensive) tech it is possible to get from a hut.

You can most-definitely get Astronomy... I've done it on more then one occasion... usually you need to have "New Worlds" activated so there are still goody huts that late in the game... but yes, you can definitely get Astronomy from a goody hut.

Oh, wow! I am seriously wrong. I got the second last tech though...

In the space of about 5 turns, I popped BW and then IW. Too bad I couldn't keep them, as I was trying to find a solution to a problem that required a reload to before those huts were popped. (See the Religious experience link in my sig.)

Goody Huts are evil... One game you pop 5 techs in a row, giving you a huge boost right at the start, the next game, nothing :s Just scouts and maps, hurray!

I usually get barbarian uprisings. They can sometimes be nice for the xp, but I really hate it when they kill my scouts.

That is annoying, but I'd take XP over a map that shows two squars of the ocean and a dessert hill any day!

Custom Game, Map Type (I think it is called that): Terra.

You can also use a custom map script like New World... which has a setting that can be toggled in the normal quick-start or in custom games.
