Sword of the Stars 2

Hoo boy! This one's a train wreck

Here's hoping we get some serious work on it soon. I don't have the energy to fight the "good" fight like I did with Civilization 5. I'm not personally asking for a refund in this case, but they should definitely be offering them no questions asked.

I agree, I'm just going to pretend it releases in two more weeks :(.

They need to revoke Mecron's posting privileges until this is over. I don't think he has the... right type of personality to navigate this situation.

It's on Steam right now. The graphics look pretty, but $50 [$40] is too steep for me right now.

Oh you right, typo.

Might be picking this up. Got 3 friends now playing it. One said he played multiplayer for about 4 hours with another friend today and it only crashed once, and were able to immediately pick up where they crashed via a saved game.

There is meant to be a large patch arriving today, as well as more patches over the coming days to fix functionality and other bugs. I'm probably going to wait till the weekend before playing again though.

I will admit, it is very pretty when its all running :) .

I got it and liked the idea but it is pretty buggy! Is there a way to put in custom decals in the game? I like making a human faction with that crusader type decal and naming my empire the Knights Galactica.

I read that it already had two updates and most issues are fixed.
Does anyone know if there is (going to be) a demo ?
I only played the first SotS demo and id didn't really convince me. I ache for a new turn based space strategy game, but I'm not buying this one blind.

The 1st SotS with all its expansions was a fairly deep game. Not to everyones taste but it did have substantial differences to the original release and demo.

The two updates for SotS 2 have improved stability but the game is still nowhere near finished, to be honest I'd wait for the demo (there is going to be one, although I expect its release has been pushed back.) By that point I would expect most major issues will be fixed and several features should have been patched back in.
At the minute as far as I can tell, Trade doesn't work, Independant planets don't work, Drone squads don't work, over 1/2 the tooltips are still missing, the SotSpedia isn't finished, Selecting fleets for combat is buggy, ship stances don't work, ... it goes on like this. There is a gem of a game in here IMHO, but its buried under a massive amount of bugs, needs at least a solid month of updates on it I'd guess.

The first game was pretty crappy at release, and took some patching to get good. Glad I predicted that SotS2 would be the same way.

Kerberos has some serious determination, but they just don't have the manpower or talent to get something right on the first try.

I'll wait for the steam season sale. There will probably be some reduced paradox packs so why buy it now when it is bugy and expensive...

I don't think such comparisons are fair to the launch version of Sword of the Stars. It had problems out the ass, to be sure, but it wasn't like *this.*

Paradox CEO asked for forgiveness on their forum that they published a game like this.
So stay away from this game at least for some months!

the only problem with that game is that from the looks of it, it wont work unless you're some sort of technosexual who like builds your own computer in your basement with a bajillion gigs of ram and a video card.

i.e. the graphics are too good for 90 percent of computers
