Synergies, what can we think of?

noun, plural syn·er·gies.

1. The interaction of elements that when combined produce a total effect that is greater than the sum of the individual elements, contributions, etc.;
Before G&K there were some very nice synergies possible with some civs, the social policies, etc.

Now, with the added layer of religion and beliefs an extra dimension is added to the possibilities of powerful synergies.

As a handy reference I direct you to Civilization V Analyst for vanilla CiV and Civilization V Analyst: Gods & Kings for the G&K info known so far, especially the beliefs.
But keep in mind that a lot might change, the vanilla civs, the social policies, etc.

What are some good synergies you can think of? :)
 
I think one of the obvious ones was this:

Greece/Siam/Austria
Papal Primacy (Founder Belief)
Aesthetics (social policy)
Religious Unity (enhancer Belief)
Coups (espionage)

The first 2 make you friends with city-states of the same religion, the third makes it easier to spread religions to city-states. The Fourth is an easy step up to alliance.

Greece gets slow influence deterioration. Siam gets double food and culture (and possibly Faith). Austria gets the opening to annex the city-state.
 
Arabia with desert folklore pantheon (if you get a nice desert start).
That's one I'm really looking forward to!
 
I think the Huns would do well with Faith Healers (Pantheon), as would any warmonger. It will allow you to heal your units an additional 30% per turn after you conquer a city while you speed-raze it.
 
The obvious one is Egypt with Monument to the Gods, their UA, and The Oligarchy Social policy. Early Wonders cranked out at top speed! Divine Inspiration may be a solid follower belief to enhance each of those wonders.

Any of the temple follower beliefs would also be excellent.
 
One with Nature gives you +2 Faith for Natural Wonders, but in Spain's hands it becomes +4 (double yield UA). That makes any Natural Wonder a Faith Wonder for them, but if Spain happens to have Mt. Kailish (+6 Faith, +2 Happiness) nearby, Spain would get +16 Faith from it and Spain becomes a Faith Monster. Combine that with Holy Warriors if your feeling Crusader-y. On the peaceful side, you could go with Mosques, Pilgrimage, and Holy Order to spread your religion far and wide with Missionaries.

Holy Warriors, Just War?, Discipline (from Honor branch) sounds interesting. I was wondering if you could line these up with Persia for a couple of powerful pushes during golden ages.

I'm not sure if the Spain UA would double the +2 Faith from a Natural Wonder. It doesn't double the +1 gold from a Golden Age on a gold producing Natural Wonder like Cerro de Potosi.

Possible... but gold is still doubled with Spain's UA. Cerro de Potosi is 20 gold rather than 10 for example. Admiteddly I haven't checked during a Golden Age if that +1 gold was also doubled, but I will take your word for it.

It should still double faith wonders though, because it is like any other resource and a Golden Age won't improve it.
 
How about Goddess of Protection for Ethiopia? the more defense Ethiopia has the better. With this you could become almost impossible to be toppled.

Pantheon -
Religious Settlements: +15% faster border growth + Krespot to claim lands fast.

Founder -
Church Property: +2 Gold for each City following Religion or
Ceremonial Burial: +1 Happiness for each City following Religion

because you will have lots of cities either by building or conquering.

Follower:
Domination - Holy Warriors: Use Faith to purchase pre-Industrial land units
Science - Religious Community: +1% Production for each follower (max +15%)

Enhancer:
Domination - Just War: +20% Combat near enemy Cities that follow this Religion
Science - Religious Texts: Religion spreads 34% faster (68% with Printing Press), if you are going technology focused this make more sense to get your religion spread quick.
 
I wonder if
Goddess of Protection: +30% increase in city Ranged Combat Strength
stacks with the current Oligarchy bonus. I assume that the Oligarchy bonus is going to change and city ranged combat strength is going to be higher, because that +30% is pretty weak compared to the +100% you get from Oligarchy at the moment, and at current city strengths it is also pretty weak compared to a Belief like Faith Healers: +30 HP healed per turn if adjacent to a friendly city, even if you are fighting a defensive war.

IMO with three early city combat strength bonusses (Walls, Goddess of Protection and Oligarchy), your city should one-shot every contemporary unit, and get them in or close to the red with two of the three.

City combat is being changed drastically. I believe there is even a flexible HP-system, where Walls provide +50HP. How strong city attack is, is anyone's guess. It is also very likely the Social Policy with city strength has changed.

Or the AI is so smart to choose a different approach so it doesn't have all its eggs in 1 basket.

As Egypt you could choose to increase your wonder production, but you could also argue to choose something completely different. Egypt already has an advantage for wonders, so why not go for another different advantage?

Synergy is great, and fun, but maybe we could also think about Beliefs to make up a deficit. Like India going for a bonus per city so you are able to get a 'normal' amount of cities.
