System requirements are out!

I wondering if there is a chance that a GeForce 315m 1GB (Dx10) will run Civ 6 on bare minimum settings. I have run games on this graphics setup with similar minimum specs. It probably will run but whether it's artefact-free and stable is another question.

How would my laptop run this game I wonder?

CPU Intel i7 3610QM; GPU nVidia GeForce 650M; 6 GB RAM; 1TB HDD; Windows 7 Home Premium.

I'm hoping to get in on at least minimum settings; I could certainly play Civ5 with decent settings on big maps.

I would say no, wouldn't be playable even everything as low as possible. What games have you played with similar requirements on this machine? Answer that and we could probably give you a more firm answer.

You'll be able to play somewhere between low and medium settings I believe. Not sure how big maps play into though, I know they require more VRAM, which your card is likely 2Gb. No idea how larger maps will perform for you, but the game will definitely play.

Hi,

This article gave me a bit of hope when I saw it. I had been planning to replace my laptop.

I posted this in another thread where we found there was an option to start the game in strategic mode, I'll post here as well.

I'll be trying to run it on a pretty old laptop, I'll be surprised if I can smoothly run in strategic mode, but if I can avoid replacing it it's worth a shot.

Windows 7 64bit SP1
intel core i3-2310m @2.1ghz
4 gb RAM
5500 RPM HDD
Intel HD graphics 3000

For anyone interested with a comparable system I'll post the results here on release.

Hope springs eternal, and I'll be watching this space.

That said, the Intel 530 graphics described in the article is not only more powerful than our HD 3000 graphics, but also supports DX11.

So I'm not sure the game will even start.

Anyway,

Ken

Thanks for your reply.

I'm not bothered about graphical quality tbh, I'll happily play on low settings as long as I can play on larger maps. If that means playing on the lowest settings to make large maps playable then so be it.

Maybe... but then these are the listen minimums for Civ:BE
  • Graphics: 256 MB ATI HD3650 or better, 256 MB nVidia 8800 GT or better, or Intel HD 3000 or better integrated graphics
  • DirectX: Version 11
Also I am running directX 11 according to dxdiag, which seems standard for windows 7 64 bit

this is my laptop, i spent the money because i know the importance of a good GPU, if it has a weakness, its the CPU and not the GPU.

good news for people though is you can get a graphics card that will run this game fairly cheap if you know how to shop, 'online ofc' and they are not very hard to install, just get a youtube PHD on the matter, goodluck.

Win7 has dx11, but hd3000 only goes up to dx10:

With Intel® HD Graphics 3000/2000

DirectX* OpenGL* OpenCL* Shader Model Support Intel® Quick Sync Video Intel® Wireless Display Intel® Insider™ technology Intel® InTru™ 3D Technology Intel® Clear Video HD Technology
10.1 3.1 No 4.1 Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes

If you go to the Intel Graphics panel, you'll see 10.1, not 11. dxdiag says 11, but no.

Nice that BE runs for you, though! Maybe the minimum requirements aren't so minimal...

Anyway,

Ken

for anyone unsure if they can run this game, simply goto www.canirunit.com and type in civilization 6, it will show you a minimum and recc and it will tell you what if anything fails to meet them.

not trying to advertise i have no horse in the race, but its a quick and easy way to find out, its mostly accurate but i find it can be off alittle on the processors, it doesnt really take into account cores n such.

I saw that the sticky on this topic is locked, so I went a head and made a new thread about this.

I was wondering if my computer could run the game. I used the systemrequirementslab and it said I didn't meet the minimum of a 1 gb video card. I have a GeForce GT 640 apparently.

Features: Minimum attributes of your Video Card
Required You Have
green_checkmark_small.gif
Pixel Shader version 5.0
green_checkmark_small.gif
Vertex Shader version 5.0
green_checkmark_small.gif
Dedicated Video RAM 1.9 GB

according to that I have 1.9 gb Video ram when only 1 is needed. What am I missing?

my other specs are the following, but I think I am good on them.
AMD FX(tm)-6100 Six-Core Processor
3.3 GHz
16 GB Ram.

Hi all. I love civ but am unsure if I can play civ 6 :(

It is not clear to me what the specs reuirements mean other than most of my lap top "numbers" heh, seem high enough.
It is a somewhat old Asus K53S so I expected it woluld not work.

Anyway here are som of the data from dxdiag, any help in iterpreting this would be greatly apreciated

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2450M CPU @ 2.50GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.5GH
Memory: 6144MB RAM

Card name: NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M
Chip type: GeForce GT 630M

Display Memory: 1664 MB
Shared Memory: 1632 MB

Current Mode: 1920 x 1080

Thanx

As a follow up to my much, much, earlier: That site basically listed my Mini Tower bought in March of year as follows:

Graphics card itself (AMD Radeon (TM) R9 360) is somewhere between minimum & recommended, shaders beyond what is listed (I have 5.1), VRAM right at recommended, for 88% percentile.
My CPU (AMD FX-8800P Radeon R7, 12 Compute Cores 4C+8G) is somewhere between minimum & recommended; listed at 55% percentile.
They treat CPU speed as Info. I'm not particularly surprised.
My 16 GB of RAM is double the recommended amount.
I still have 1.7 TB of free hard drive space.

Thanx, but it says i can't run it on my " NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M 2 GB" and Minimum say: 1 GB nVidia 450,
Is my GeForce GT 630m worse than nVidia 450? Guess that would'nt bee too strange, but seems counterintuitiv.
Still it is dtill below reccommended

All other specs are OK though

Because the m stands for "not actually a graphics card".

OK. I am sure it is not a very good graphics card. I was just wondering if I am right about wether or not it is indeed above minium and slightly below recommnded?
No need to bee glib, I just don't want to waste money on a game I can't use at all

You will run it melk as long as it has the minimum video card specs. Mobile cards, especially low numbers(under *60) might as well be 2 generations behind the desktop versions.
Here is a comparision http://gpuboss.com/gpus/GeForce-GTX-460-vs-GeForce-GT-630M... As you can see , even though it has twice the ram and faster clock speed it still performs worse than the minimum Card. IDK if it will run acceptable to be honest, Texture mapping is pretty important in Civ games and your card tanks :(....idk if you will get playable frame rates. I probably wanna test it first if possible.

For reference I ran Skyrim on a card that failed the minimum requirements and it ended up playing on medium Quality quite well once I optimised it, but that was a Desktop Card. GT Cards aren't really meant for gaming and with mobile cards are worse.

Side Topic.... On GPU Boss one of the tests i saw was Civ 5 Texture Decomposition :)....Pretty cool, shows how demanding Civ games can be for graphics... There is a lot of textures that need to be rendered on a late game map. Everyone would have noticed the texture fill pass when you first render the screen :)

Thank you dturtle! I played civ v on a poor lap top with minimum settings in the for quite a while. I finnd the beginning of all the civ' games the game most fun, and if it takes to long afther the map is reveald, I just start over ;)
And actually still do so regardless of gpu :)

Thanks again!

Hi. I didn't even realise until quite recently that Civ VI was inbound, so am pretty excited. Not sure whether my current laptop is going to run it though! I have a Lenovo Z500 which runs Civ V with no problems at all. Graphic card is GT635M (not that this means much to me!).

I could probably just about stretch to a new laptop if required - but would prefer not to if possible! It does seem to meet the minimum specs so far as I can see, but anyone able to offer any advice?

New PC arrived last week and I'm all set. The CPU Should last me to Civ7
I7 6700k EVGA GTX 1080 FTW 16 GB

I am a bit surprised at the gtx 770 recommended. That's a mid-high range card just 2.5 years ago
