System requirements?

1) There is a fix to make it 3GB
2) There will be 64bit compatibility!

There is no fix to this integer, its a hard coded system limitation.

amd athlon(tm) 64 x2 dual core processor 5000+ 2,61 ghz 512 RAM these are my full system specs could i run civ v?
Not enough ram. 1 gig minimum I would guess, 2 gigs recommended.

Good way to ruin a computer possibly, but interesting, the thing is games are written with a 2 gig limit in mind, so even if the os will let you assign more then 2 gigs, I wonder if the games will actually use it.

We're already putting Athlon 64 on the scrapheap at work.

Time to spec up a new one.

Core i5/i7
Minumim of 3 GB (if you go x64 with your OS get more)
DX11 Graphics 1 GB Card

Lots of Guys in Rise of Mankind swear that it boosts performance, everyone who has tried in fact so I imagine it works

I have made use of the 3GB switch under Vista32 (to make RoM more stable) and it worked very well.
The CTD's which I did experience beforehand were suddenly gone.

This does not mean that it has to work for any combination of hardware, though.

So, still no system specs - with less than 100 days till the release date? I am disappointed.

You're dissapointed? I've been waiting for official final system requirements for Starcraft 2, it's less than 10 days away and the website still says "We'll have more details on specific system requirements closer to the release date."

I was wondering if anyone had any idea if my Macbook would have any chance of running Civ V via Bootcamp.

Thanks!

Specs-
Processor: 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo (P7350/P8600)
Memory: Two slots for PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM (1066 MHz) 2 GB (two 1 GB)
Expandable to 4 GB I only have 2GB now, would it make much of a difference to expand to 4?
Graphics: Integrated Nvidia GeForce 9400M with 256 MB shared with main memory
(up to 512 MB available in Windows through Boot Camp)

How could I possibly think about pre-ordering a game I don't know if I can run?

CPU and RAM should be OK, but that GPU is junk - it will likely be able to play Civ5 but expect to use very low gfx options.

upgrade the RAM, 4GB is definitely worth it

I'm replacing my old Intel Dual Core 3.2GHz, 2GB RAM, GEForce 9600 512MB desktop. Since I'm going to be trekking from home to work to the university every day, I gotta get a laptop, so I'll be paying more for lesser specs. However, hopefully this will run CiV, as it will be my new base specs on the laptop:

Intel i7-720QM (Quad core 1.6GHz/2.8 Turbo, 6MB Cache)
4GB DDR3 1066 (might up it to 8 if it needs it)
Dedicated ATI Radeon HD 5450 1GB

I have a feeling it'll do for CiV, but not so certain about SC2.

For Civ5 that will fly, even with "just" 4 GB. Read this thread and the article referenced therein. With the new threading and job distribution they worked with Intel to even squeeze 30 fps out of an intel GMA.
