People are just making a big deal over nothing.

Not entirely.

There is smoke where there is fire.

AFAIK 2K will have to remove data of EU & UK citizens when they are no longer considered a customer, according to GDPR. I'm fairly sure 2K have not implemented such measures cos IDK if anyone knows how long this is.

Test: A UK/EU person should buy a 2K game. Register a 2K account. Then return/refund the game. See if you can log on to 2K. If you can (which I'll bet you can do) then report to ICO -> https://ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint/your-personal-information-concerns/

:hatsoff:

...(i) the transfer of any personal information and other information to Licensor, its affiliates, vendors, and business partners, and to certain other third parties, such as governmental authorities, in the U.S. and other countries located outside Europe or your home country...

Soz to necro this thread but I got banned on Steam Civ VI forums so...

Re: Spyware & EULA.

So far there have been criticisms of gamers around the use of Red Shell and 2K's EULA calling it "spyware". That it is sensational and not true.

But if you look at this quoted segment of the EULA it says we agree to allow 2K to pass our data (harvested from tools like Red Shell) to the U.S. government or the govt. of your home country or any other govt. of a non-EU country.

So for example: if the Indian govt. wanted my personal data from Civ VI, legally I've agreed to this. IDK how GDPR would allow this.

This sounds to me a lot like government surveillance. i.e. spying.

Where is Edward Snowden when you need him? ;)
