Talking Ads

I have been talked at by several advertisements on this site. It is freakish. It slows my pathetic connection down. It causes me to jump in surprize if I am browsing in silence, and it distorts my music if I'm listening to music. Does TF have any control over this, or is it just something I have to live with?

i think that it is certain people abusing their contract with telefrag or whatever its called but im not sure

Don't think I can do much about it... Those are probably not consider really annoying ads by UGO or Telefragged.

If you go to gamespy, sometimes they use a quicktime movie with sound/music on tbeir main page. Now that's annoying!

Flash ads are consider standard practice nowadays to attract advertisers.

But, I had an agressive ad put a calendar on my taskbar!

Can you ask them to curb it TF or consider them offensive ads? Pretty soon we will have smells coming out of the ads!

Perhaps its because no one buys anything? So they are going to even greater lengths to attract people.

I don't have those problems, if you're talking about a pop-up then my trusty pop-up stopper takes care of them

Alright, now this really scared the crap out of me! Maybe because I normally don't have the sound on....

I walked away from my computer to grab another soda from the fridge. As I was walking back towards the room where my computer is I hear some hillbilly voice saying "Hey you! Over here!" I start thinking someone broke into my house (I was alone in my house) and I start panickly looking around trying to find this person. Then I hear "Do you have debt problems?". Of course then I figured out where the voice was coming from and , was I sure mad then (but of course I was relieved that I didn't have an intruder in my house).

Next time you see a flash ad you may want to right click on it to change the flash audio setting.

I saw that rats ad too, and actually played that game a few times and got 100% accuracy rating.

I just heard it now, and it scared me too! The guy pitching debt problems at you. If they think that they're going to get me to click on that blasted link with their talking ads, they're wrong - now I have less of an urge to click on that ad.

And without a credit card or a shopping habit, I don't have any debt problems yet

Yeah! I like the sound ads. At least they're better than the "Buy Apolyton stuff" ads. Poor kitties.

AAAARRRRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!

I just got in to trouble at work for disturbing everyone with a crappy movie advert on my speakers

No flash, it was a banner. I tried right-clicking to stop sound, but there is no option!!!!

This is awful. This is *really* intrusive. And the fact that you can't turn sound off is the worst.

Who knows what free software I can get to stop it? It needs to not be a browser - I have to use IE for work purposes...
