Team Smackster : Training Game 01

That sounds like an interesting idea. Should make good learning for future games.

OK, so you play 20 with the existing start, later I'll setup a start that settles on the sugar.

I wont settle on the hill, as I want to set this up like we didn't know that the hill works a bit better, just compare the difference from a "quick settle", to a "wander and find a bonus" start.

4000 BC:
Wandering.

3950 BC:
Still wandering.

3900 BC:
Found the spot after "Mosesing" around for some turns.

3850 BC:
London founded. Build:Warrior.
Worker to irrigate from river and northwards.
Research set to writing at minimum speed (20%). Will adjust it up later.

3800 BC:
Nothing

3750 BC:
Worker starts irrigation.

3700 BC:
Nothing

3650 BC:

Nothing

3600 BC:

Warrior completed in London, set to curragh.

3550 BC:

Warrior scouts around London as city wont grow until 4 turns.
Nothing to see.

3500 BC:

Nothing.

3450 BC:

Nothing.

3400 BC:

Nothing.

3350 BC:

London grows to 2 pop, and borders expand. Warrior MP.
No gain on research by adjusting the slider yet. No roads.

3300 BC:

Nothing.

3250 BC:

Curragh complete - to granary.

3200 BC:

Curragh sent scouting westwards.

3150 BC:

Nothing.

3100 BC:

Nothing.

3050 BC:

Curragh spots a goody hut on the tip of western peninsula.

3000 BC:

London grows to 3 pop.
Adjusted slider up accordingly.

Production in London can still be adjusted to curragh if prefered, without losing shields I hope. Didnt check before saving.

And the save.
I will catch a flight now to go to my folks place for christmas, but I will be online there to follow the game.
Happy holidays to you all team! :) :)

Well, granary is still good to have... Population grows twice as fast with granary, that means after you build it you still can build settlers in a much faster rate even without having +5fpt...

Well, it looks like we are, if not alone, rather isolated too. I dont know, I usually prefer to build a granary before settlers. The only exceptions are times when I am really close to some other civ and must get a phat spot/lux.

The debate is on :)

I can play tonight if we resolve the granary issue :)

Well, I dont have anymore input on it, but I would like to hear more on what Wotan and Smackster think about it.

Yes its a good idea, but not before you build your first settler, which is what you do with the 4-turn settler gambit. Build one or maybe two settlers first and then later we can build a granary.

I usually do what Smackster suggests myself. A Settler or two before building the Granary.

Sorry, the cow and fish is westwards.
I will get u a screenie. ( I know there is a zoom feature, I just forgot how...)
It seems like the cow is on another island.

I will switch to settler.

@JJ: "Z" key zooms in and out

Pre-turn: Switch granary to settler in 5 turns.

T1. Move Curragh

T2. 2900 BC Move Curragh

T3. 2850BC Move Curragh

T4. 2800BC Worker Irrigate->Road. Move curragh
Curragh contacted Portuguese Warrior. They have all tech we have plus BW, WC and CB. They won't sell us nothing and i don't want to until we find more tribes to get techs cheaper.

T5. 2750BC. London settler->warrior. I am not sure where is the best location for the second city, but i think it should be down SW by the river. Move Curragh.

T6. 2710BC. Move curragh and settler pair

T7. 2670BC. same as above. Worker finished road on plains, switched citizen to plains, worker moved to the wheat, irrigate next turn.

T8. 2630BC. Move curragh and settler pair. worker irrigates wheat.

T9. 2590BC. Same as above.

T10. 2550BC. London Warrior->Settler (can be switched). I didn't move warrior/settle pair this last turn if team does not agree with my city location.
I was thinking to stop the game for discussion on next city location, but really next city should be by the river, I somewhat reassured myself i am doing right thing moving a settler all the way there.

I marked tile where i want to settle in green. Pink dot is possible location for the city to fill the gap.
