lurker's comment:
This looked like a really interesting start to me, so I decided to give it a go.
Being most likely the only player around who prefers huge commerce over growth, I settled right on top of the Incense. This also saved me from the useless irrigating of the Sugar in Despotism. London is not on a River, but still has both Sugars after expansion, and a good production. And, the city centre gives 4gpt, plus the Lux is already connected.
Started with a Curragh (then Warrior, Curragh, Settler, Warrior, Granary); can always switch to a Warrior if theres an AI nearby.
Writing on min, of course.
Worker started mining/roading the Sugar.
2710BC, meet France.
2670BC, contact Korea and Aztecs. Get BW and WC from Korea for Pottery and 87gp.
2590BC, York on the coastal hill 4 S of London.
2350BC, get Masonry from Aztecs for 5gpt and 112gp. Wheel, Cb and 30gp from Portugal for Masonry. Wheel and Masonry to Korea for Iron Working and 120gp.
Played on for a couple more turns,
but, once Portugal completed the Colossus (=GA!), while already being the largest Civ on Earth, that one was pretty pointless.
As usual, it is not your start that really matters, but the start of the neighbour Civ.
