Tech Tree Discussion

Some players complaining that ancient era is too short so my idea taken from EoW mod for new tech

Military business (req military training and currency)
- enables mercenaries civic
- enables mercenary camp (building)
- enables mercenary stables (building)
- enables units connected to two above

After research of currency and military training you civ may discover that be a soldier could be profession.

It will be also good tech as placeholder to enable mercenary market in future development (currently developed by platyping)

Now remember, you have to factor in (When ever they get it working that is) the Nomad Start??

I've got fairly solid plans and have investigated the coding I'll need to do. It's just a time constraint issue at this point.

I don't know about that tech name.

Also Currency is a Classical Era tech so it would not make the Ancient Era any longer.

It may be a bit obvious but the best name I can think of for that tech is... Mercenaries...

There are a few things mercenaries will work for before Currency:
- 'precious' resources: Diamonds etc., Gold etc. Ingots if it isn't too early, possibly Salt or Horses. Come to think of it, anything's possible in good old barter :goodjob:
- land (in which case they would be assimilated into your civ... or start their own)
- loot (this would only be if they thought you were about to capture a city; you would then get less loot than normal from the capture; if you took your time capturing said city you would have a mercenary revolt on your hands - this is a random event with a very low probability of not happening:D)

so if not currency than mining because mining reveals metals civis but maybe it will be too early for mercenary civic?

But you must admit that this tech will put some order to mercenary related buildings/units/civics :)

What does it take to get Hit Movies and then Lara? NO requirements, but i still cant get any, plus i looked at ALL the other civs and they have none also??

1. It appears that only Hollywood provides Hit Movies. Should the Movie Studio too?

2. Lara needs ...

Lara Croft
Req Tech: Rifling and Mass Media
Req Building: Museum
Req Resouces: Hit Movies

Note that the Rifling requirement seems a bit redundant. I am not sure if it is though.

I would say yes, and maybe something else also, because i was looking at the buildings that need "hit movies" and there are a few?? I think between 5-9 or so??

Definitely not. If something else does then get rid of the wonder.

:hmm: Maybe your right, because almost every country has their OWN hit movies, including the Cannes Festival. No reason why it should only be America (again)??

I think we should rename Digital Warfare to Digital Culture, or Digitization since we already have a Cyberwarfare Tech right before it. We can move the 2 Buildings to Cyberwarfare.

I would like to rename Flash Memory to Multicore Processors and moved to X83. Its Prerequisites would be Wearable Computers AND Media Psychology AND Cyberwarfare. We can also rename it Digital Electronics.

I would like to eliminate Exoplanet Discovery. We have Astrobiology and Commercial Spalceflight nearby, they have plenty of room.

I would like to replace Exoplanet Discovery with:

Nutraceuticals
Requires: Advanced Molecular Biology and Media Psychology
x84, Y???
Required for :Personalized Health

Combines Bromatology (study of food) and Dermatology into it.

Nutraceutical, a portmanteau of the words “nutrition” and “pharmaceutical” and was coined by Dr. Stephen L. DeFelice, founder and chairman of the Foundation of Innovation Medicine (FIM), Crawford, New Jersey.[1] The term is applied to products that range from isolated nutrients, dietary supplements and herbal products, specific diets, genetically modified food, and processed foods such as cereals, soups, and beverages.

In the US, the term has no meaning in the law, and "nutraceutical" products are regulated as drugs, dietary supplements, food ingredients, or food. The term is defined in Canadian law as referring to "a product isolated or purified from foods that is generally sold in medicinal forms not usually associated with food. A nutraceutical is demonstrated to have a physiological benefit or provide protection against chronic disease."

Another Tech I would like to Add is:

Business Ethics
Requires: Derivatives and Media Psychology
x82, Y7
Required for : Rapid Prototyping

Business ethics (also corporate ethics) is a form of applied ethics or professional ethics that examines ethical principles and moral or ethical problems that arise in a business environment. It applies to all aspects of business conduct and is relevant to the conduct of individuals and entire organizations.[1]
Business ethics has both normative and descriptive dimensions. As a corporate practice and a career specialization, the field is primarily normative. Academics attempting to understand business behavior employ descriptive methods. The range and quantity of business ethical issues reflects the interaction of profit-maximizing behavior with non-economic concerns. Interest in business ethics accelerated dramatically during the 1980s and 1990s, both within major corporations and within academia. For example, today most major corporations promote their commitment to non-economic values under headings such as ethics codes and social responsibility charters. Adam Smith said, "People of the same trade seldom meet together, even for merriment and diversion, but the conversation ends in a conspiracy against the public, or in some contrivance to raise prices."[2] Governments use laws and regulations to point business behavior in what they perceive to be beneficial directions. Ethics implicitly regulates areas and details of behavior that lie beyond governmental control.[3] The emergence of large corporations with limited relationships and sensitivity to the communities in which they operate accelerated the development of formal ethics regimes.

The term 'business ethics' came into common use in the United States in the early 1970s. By the mid-1980s at least 500 courses in business ethics reached 40,000 students, using some twenty textbooks and at least ten casebooks along supported by professional societies, centers and journals of business ethics. The Society for Business Ethics was started in 1980. European business schools adopted business ethics after 1987 commencing with the European Business Ethics Network (EBEN).[12][13][14][15] In 1982 the first single-authored books in the field appeared.[

I think we should rename Digital Warfare to Digital Culture, or Digitization since we already have a Cyberwarfare Tech right before it. We can move the 2 Buildings to Cyberwarfare.

1. I like "Digitization". Sounds vague enough to cover different areas.

I would like to rename Flash Memory to Multicore Processors and moved to X83. Its Prerequisites would be Wearable Computers AND Media Psychology AND Cyberwarfare. We can also rename it Digital Electronics.

2. I will have to look into this more.

I would like to eliminate Exoplanet Discovery. We have Astrobiology and Commercial Spalceflight nearby, they have plenty of room.

3. They are WAY different fields. Exoplanet Discovery is using telescopes to kind new planets outside our solar system. And Astrobiology is both the effect of biological species in space as well as potentially microbes from Mars or Asteroids.

4. We could possibly add it. So, Maybe.

1. I recommend we do rename it Digitization, it can be the tech to add stufff that doesn't fit any specific category.

2. I have to refind the idea more, Basically make more vague than it is, a tech for gadgets and new electronics.

3. On second tohught, lets keep Exoplanet discovery.

4. I will create a building list, maybe they could fit in Advanced Molecular Biology.

5. We need a Business tech near the end of the Modern Era, to reflect the new theories and advancement of business.Wee can also call it Information Economy

An Information Economy is one that has insant access to accurate information, communicaes through telepone lines and computers, and the majority of income depends on the use of up-to-date and accurate information.

Social responsibility is an ethical theory that an entity, be it an organization or individual, has an obligation to act to benefit society at large. Social responsibility is a duty every individual or organization has to perform so as to maintain a balance between the economy and the ecosystem.

Corporate social responsibility (CSR, also called corporate conscience, corporate citizenship, social performance, or sustainable responsible business/ Responsible Business)[1] is a form of corporate self-regulation integrated into a business model. CSR policy functions as a built-in, self-regulating mechanism whereby a business monitors and ensures its active compliance with the spirit of the law, ethical standards, and international norms. In some models, a firm's implementation of CSR goes beyond compliance and engages in "actions that appear to further some social good, beyond the interests of the firm and that which is required by law."[2][3] CSR is a process with the aim to embrace responsibility for the company's actions and encourage a positive impact through its activities on the environment, consumers, employees, communities, stakeholders and all other members of the public sphere who may also be considered as stakeholders

Environmental Protection Agency [ National Wonder]

he United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA or sometimes USEPA) is an agency of the U.S. federal government which was created for the purpose of protecting human health and the environment by writing and enforcing regulations based on laws passed by Congress

Governmental Accounting Standard [National Wonder]

The Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) is the source of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) used by State and Local governments in the United States. As with most of the entities involved in creating GAAP in the United States, it is a private, non-governmental organization.

The GASB is subject to oversight by the Financial Accounting Foundation (FAF), which selects the members of the GASB and the Financial Accounting Standards Board, and funds both organizations.

The mission of the Governmental Accounting Standards Board is to establish and improve standards of state and local governmental accounting

Integrity Management Consulting

Integrity management consulting is a fast-emerging global sector that advises individuals and corporations on how to apply the highest ethical standards to every aspect of their business. At the core of integrity management is the belief that companies have a strong interest, as well as a responsibility, to act with integrity at all times. This field arose in response to (a) the increased perception that companies are more likely to succeed when they act with integrity and (b) increased awareness by company directors of the need to seek expert advice to help them align and incorporate high ethical standards with business strategy and integrate them across all operational functions.

Uniform Commercial Code [National Wonder]

The goal of harmonizing state law is important because of the prevalence of commercial transactions that extend beyond one state. For example, goods may be manufactured in State A, warehoused in State B, sold from State C and delivered in State D. The UCC therefore achieved the goal of substantial uniformity in commercial laws and, at the same time, allowed the states the flexibility to meet local circumstances by modifying the UCC's text as enacted in each state. The UCC deals primarily with transactions involving personal property (movable property), not real property (immovable property).
Other goals of the UCC were to modernize contract law and to allow for exceptions from the common law in contracts between merchants.

Algorithmic Trading Platform (Investing)

Algorithmic trading, also called automated trading, black-box trading, or algo trading, is the use of electronic platforms for entering trading orders with an algorithm which executes pre-programmed trading instructions whose variables may include timing, price, or quantity of the order, or in many cases initiating the order by a "robot", without human intervention.

Staffing Office

means filling job positions with the right people at the right time. It involves determining staffing needs, writing job descriptions, recruiting and screening people to fill the positions

Crowdfunding Firm

Civic crowdfunding refers to fundraising and philanthropy for community projects through Internet crowd funding platforms.[1]

Celebrity Endorsements

Celebrity branding can take several different forms, from a celebrity simply appearing in advertisements for a product, service or charity, to a celebrity attending PR events, creating his or her own line of products or services, and/or using his or her name as a brand. The most popular forms of celebrity brand lines are for clothing and fragrances. Many singers, models and film stars now have at least one licensed product or service which bears their name.
Lately there has been a trend towards celebrity voice-overs in advertising. Some celebrities have distinct voices which are recognizable even when they not present on-screen. This is a more subtle way to add celebrity branding to a product or service

Food Stamps

Food Stamp Act of 1964 (which expanded the federal food stamp program

Community Action Agencies
In the United States and its territories, Community Action Agencies (CAA) are local private and public non-profit organizations that carry out the Community Action Program (CAP), which was founded by the 1964 Economic Opportunity Act to fight poverty by empowering the poor as part of the War on Poverty.
CAAs are intended to promote self-sufficiency, and they depend heavily on volunteer work, especially from the low-income community. The Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) is the agencies' core federal funding. Agencies also operate a variety of grants that come from federal, state and local sources. These grants vary widely among agencies, although most CAAs operate Head Start programs, which focus on early child development. Other programs frequently administered by Community Action Agencies include Low-Income Home Energy Assistance (LIHEAP) utility grants and Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) funded through the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE).

Social Security number or National ID [National Wonder]

A side effect of the Social Security program in the United States has been the near-universal adoption of the program's identification number, the Social Security number, as the de facto U.S. national identification number.

Disability Program
A worker who has worked long enough and recently enough (based on "quarters of coverage" within the recent past) to be covered can receive disability benefits. These benefits start after five full calendar months of disability, regardless of his or her age. The eligibility formula requires a certain number of credits (based on earnings) to have been earned overall, and a certain number within the ten years immediately preceding the disability, but with more-lenient provisions for younger workers who become disabled before having had a chance to compile a long earnings history.
The worker must be unable to continue in his or her previous job and unable to adjust to other work, with age, education, and work experience taken into account; furthermore, the disability must be long-term, lasting 12 months, expected to last 12 months, resulting in death, or expected to result in death.[24] As with the retirement benefit, the amount of the disability benefit payable depends on the worker's age and record of covered earnings

Internal Revenue Code ( of 1986)

The Internal Revenue Code (IRC), formally the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, is the domestic portion of federal statutory tax law in the United States, published in various volumes of the United States Statutes at Large, and separately as Title 26 of the United States Code (USC).[1] It is organized topically, into subtitles and sections, covering income tax (see Income tax in the United States), payroll taxes, estate taxes, gift taxes, and excise taxes; as well as procedure and administration. Its implementing agency is the Internal Revenue Service.

Teacher Corps

provide teachers to poverty-stricken areas of the United States

Medicare or Social Insurance (National Wonder)

In the United States, Medicare is a national social insurance program, administered by the U.S. federal government since 1965, that guarantees access to health insurance for Americans aged 65 and older and younger people with disabilities.

As a social insurance program, Medicare spreads the financial risk associated with illness across society to protect everyone, and thus has a somewhat different social role from for-profit private insurers, which manage their risk portfolio by adjusting their pricing according to perceived risk.

Highway Safety Act

The National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act was enacted in the United States in 1966 to empower the federal government to set and administer new safety standards for motor vehicles and road traffic safety. The Act created the National Highway Safety Bureau (now National Highway Traffic Safety Administration). The Act was one of a number of initiative by the government in response to increasing number of cars and associated fatalities and injuries on the road following a period when the number of people killed on the road had increased 6-fold and the number of vehicles was up 11-fold since 1925.

Just me. I like to read. Almost all of my friends are bodybuilders who hate strategy games and want to party all the time. This is all me, Wikipedia helps a lot.

What if I told you there was no Team Azure? I was just insecure about how much effort I was putting into a game mod at the time, and was really bored during summer school vacation?

I would say then who were the people I talked to in the chatroom and was Sarah Starlight real? Or were you just being a "catfish" for the whole group? Which is not very nice to mess with us like that.

I am no sure if you realize it but the whole situation left a deep impact upon the C2C team. I am not saying others left because of it, but it could not have helped.

Then who was all this?

Yeah shes real, she transfer to University of Texas. The Team broke off late summer of '12, with majority going to runscape, and league of legends, and other hobbies as individuals. I am in the dark of what really happened to be honest, and moved on.

I haven't talked to them since about a year ago. I didn't even think or played Civilization 4 or C2C for many months, majority of my gaming diet was Sins of a Solar Empire Rebellion, Distant Worlds, Endless Space, and Dota 2. I see C2C as a hobby, and have limited free time to mod, since I have other hobby's going on. I get random brainstorm of ideas and I write them down on my phone, and it happens throughout the day, and at the end of the night I post them here lol. It's 2013 and its all me lol, im addicted to Dota 2 at the moment.
