Techs you ignore

In my last game, I went for Music, used the Great Artist to bulb Drama, and used those two to get back in position with the techs on the middle and lower tech trees (and built Notre Dame). It seems to me that Drama + Music isn't high priority for the AI, so you can get a monopoly on them. Still, I'm not sure if that's better than beelining for Philosophy/Liberalism way from the beginning and being even farther ahead on that particular line.

Drama does not have a high beaker value, but a lot of players will use the artist for a golden age (switch caste/pacifism/bureaucracy), winning a culture border war (less common), or if going culture, settle/bomb it.
 
@ TMIT - yeah, per my last post, I think I am not good enough at surviving to the late game in games where I am behind to be able to use nukes effectively.

Jet fighters might be nice but again I find rushbuying a better use of commerce :)

Havent tried paratroopers much TBH, usually research Facism last and by then I am pumping out Tanks.

Havent tried paratroopers much TBH, usually research Facism last and by then I am pumping out Tanks.

Paratroopers are only impressive in tandem with SPAMMED guided missiles, with gunships (which can't capture cities but can move 4 tiles and kill units), or with nukes (which can kill everything in the city and allow walk-ins). Once set up, any of these can conquer faster than tanks.

Paratroopers on their own are not impressive, but when you capture 8 coastal cities, nuke inland, and capture another 4 via paradrop in one turn, it's not hard to imagine their place in this game.

Whether you want jet fighters or just more units will depend to some extent on the type of opponent you're going to attack. You don't need jet fighters when you can put 40 fighters vs 8 fighters and go scott-free in the air after that. You might want jet fighters if you're fighting like 20+ fighters in AI territory, especially if those are jet fighters (which can ruin your day).

Jet fighter + marine is one of my favorites on continents type maps. A marine can kill anything at 1/2 strength, even modern armor and mech infantry.
