Here's Term 2 Culture Ministry. The First term is, as we all know, one in which Culture has a minor role, if any. This term we here are hoping to work towards laying a foundation, as well as to begin an assessment process, hopefully after each chat. The current members of this Ministry are:

Curufinwe- Minister for Culture
Snipelfritz- Deputy Minister for Culture

[OOC: I speak as a person in the game, not outside of it. So, I'll try to make my post as lucid as possible, but if needed I'll explain certain parts later. A meme is a semi-scientific things, and I use it here as a unit of culture, not quite the right way, but it'll do for my purposes. I use reverence to refer to an improvement becoming more then 1000 years old.]

Mister/Madame Speaker! After a long absence from this chamber I return to bring news of the culture of our nation. Woefully, we're in a dismal situation, ignorance rampant, and the arts and philosophy dull, and in most places, dead, either stagnant or decaying. I have allowed this to happen before through carelessness and sloth, and will now endeavour to bring our nation out of the dark and dismal lowest points of thought, and into the new, the glorious, the high and the deepest points of art and philosophy.

Mr./Mme. Speaker, I have searched through all cities of our nation, and found only 3 that were actually moving forward in the realms of thought and culture. 3, out of 8!! That is abysmal, where scarcely a third of our cities make any advances, at all! There is Fanatikku, privileged above others with its palace, and without a temple. Yet, it would take just 8 more "turns" as we measure time to construct one, with a great increase in our culture and thought. If we wait until the current plans are finished, it will take but 11 of these turns to produce one. Currently Fanatikku has 142 "units of culture" a meme if you will, for lack of better terms and for simplicity, and produces but 2 of these each turn. The palace has passed the age where it acheives reverence, and as such produces the entirety of this culture.

Zojoji- Has 14 memes and produces 2 each turn. We must keep this city, as it produces a third of our culture. Its temple will acheive the age of reverence in 125 BCE, as we measure the years.

Sharin Rhyu is making a temple as we speak. It is best to simply leave it to its path, and not risk slavery to speed this temple.

Odawara- Again, the same as Sharin Rhyu.

Immo- This city should be shifted to a temple, which will be completed in 5 turns, and 8 if we start from nothing. That is a wise policy, increasing our culture by a third.

Furuyama- We may find it prudent to shift this city to a temple soon. I will consult with my colleagues on this possibility.

Epolena- Another city producing a third of our culture. It has 14 memes as well, and makes 2 each turn. Its temple will acheive the age of reverence in 125 BCE, as we measure the years.

TBD- Continue building this temple, perhaps speeding it with rushing, though I do not wish it.

The nation as a whole makes 6 new memes each turn, and this should increase dramatically very quickly. We appear to have the largest culture, followed by the Iroquois, then a tie between Rome and the Zululand, and France and Babylon in a tie for last. We must work to pressure Neapolis, and do so quickly. Rome is not far from Neapolis, but too much closer then Fanatikku. We must work quickly. Perhaps later we should go for Ellipi as well, but again, we shall see.

To the Minister for Science, when we learn on how to organize ourself as a Monarchy, I strongly counsel you to cause the fundingn for science to be lowered. I am all for science, but with gold we could construct new buildings for thought and the arts without slavery.

To the Governor, I want our cities working on one of 3 things, a military unit, a worker or a temple. Please give the temple priority, as later we can build all the units we need, whereas each turn we miss loses out on our potential for culture.

Minister Curufinwe,

Do you have a list of wonders under construction by foreign nations, and when they were started? Also, could you post, and update, the relative cultural strengths of those nations foolish enough to oppose us?

Thanks,

Press F7 and we can see who is building wonders. The problem is we don't know the time but we saw iros and rome capitals and they need about 30+ turns for oracle i think.
It would be good idea if culture minister could read through logs and find when AI started building wonders and write that here (simply search: 'started wonder' and thats it, simple and easy).

Also, i'm afraid that we're already too late to build pyramids and oracle. Another problem is if AI reaches Literature soon (it is likely) than some of the civs will switch to Great Library and build it. We don't have any advantage because we have no stored shields in any city as AI.
Our best chance is to hold Monarchy for ourselves and try to get Hanging Gardens. But we must start building any wonder now, at this moment, and use it as prebuild to Hanging Gardens.
I urge great Culture minister to consider this proposal and to use his legal right to override building qeues in our capital Fanatikku!

he knows how to do it, he just wants the culture minister to keep track of it(rightfully so)

On a more worldly note, our culture is the envy of all known nations, and they are all Impressed with our culture.

As far as wonders go:

The Iroqois built the Pyramids in Salamanca in 530 B.C. They are also building the Great Lighthouse in Grand River.

France is building the Colossus in Lyons.

Babylon is building the Colossus in Nineveh.

The Zulu built the Great Wall in Zimbabwe in 510 B.C.

India built the Great Library in Delhi in 530 B.C.

The Aztecs built the Oracle in Tenochtitlan in 530 B.C.

We are not building any wonders currently and do not own any.

P.S. I apologize but my last report was incorrect. It should've said they are building the Great Lighthouse. (darn abreviating)

Excellent work, snipelfritz. But keep in mind, the Judiciary can only declare an Office Vacant. The President appoints citizens to fill Vacancies. Although you are next in line, your appointment is not yet official. Please contact the President in this regard. :)

I've lost interest in the DemoGame, and it is unfair for me to remain in this department. I therefore resign, and I will remain a citizen, though I will not go for any position. I apologize for my poor attendance in the last while.

snipelfritz, you can start your own thread for the Culture Department if you'd like. You can then have your post tranferred to the new thread. :)
