Term 3: Embassy to C3B

Once again, I really should have been there as I am CoIA. Sorry about that. :(

Now, let's see...

<Joker> ok, "unfair treaties", what treaties exacly? (plural)
We should have planned for that one and had a list of their treaties to back it up with I suppose. Thought Emp. did a good job by coming up with something right there, though I wonder if the boat-treaty was the best example, especially with the reason Emp. stated:
<EMP> because we would get nothing out of it, since we do not really wanna explore up around you
<EMP> That one time we approved it we had just built a currack, but then we found out that we will be sendingit elsewhere than your borders
There is no where else than their borders to send the Curragh! Now they know that we have some other place to send our Curraghs that is not part of our continent. Don't know how much real value they can get out of that, but it is still a concern.
<EMP> I want to get a feal for what you want
<EMP> now we will be getting writing soon
<Joker> ok, how many turns?
<EMP> 14
You're doing an overall good job Emp., but please try and be more vague when answering things like that. Does anyone know what C3B are researching, and how long it is untill they are done?
<Joker> so we will send you an official letter to make things more clear
<EMP> ok
<Joker> That's why all of us should withdraw for now and come back when we have everything cleared up and we are heady to deal in an official way.
* Saturno_ has left #isdg_cfc_embassy (Finalizando Cliente )
* UrUbU has left #isdg_cfc_embassy
* Joker has left #isdg_cfc_embassy
<Pggar> see ya later
* Pggar has left #isdg_cfc_embassy
* Ramuz has quit IRC (Quit: Leaving )
They do have things organised and planed.

We got to be more prepared than that. Can someone give me a list of what deals they have proposed, and why we have accepted/declined them? And we need to find out were we stand. Do we want a DMZ? Do we want to explore by land? Do we want to explore by sea?

We do have that little island to the south that we are exploring, and it may need more boats to help explore. Also we can go up the coast on the left side where C3B's culteral borders do not extend.

Their complaint for the fact that we never bring any proposals is because there's nothing to propose about.

Should we always have to decide on something in order to have a friendly relationship?

I agree, it's outrageous

He does, he talks to us like we are stupid and scolds us! You don't see the US doing that to insignifigant countries like... I don't know... Jamaica do you? :confused:

Why should it be alright for "equals", or even if we are lessers, to have them be so rude to us?

He talks to us like we are stupid to convince us of the fact that we're doing things wrong. That way their way, on whatever issue, seems more right.

Joker is cunning and clever.

...who has never negotiated before in this game. :rolleyes: It's not so hard to make this analysis afterwards, but to notice this while chatting is another thing.

But thanks for the confidence. ;)

The more experience, the easier. Try and gt there and see how it works. :)

Sorry for the delay, I will be sending the letter tomorrow, we are still discusing somethings, but almost all is ready.

We still want the chat saturday, but if you need time because of the letter we will underestand. Don´t worry it is a friendly letter

-- A letter I got today from Jocker DF, Minister of Foreign affairs for C3B.
I told him that after the letter is sent we will decide on if we want to meet saterday, but I said the chance is highly likely. Thoughts?

I see you being a great negotiator; you are straightforward and seemingly quick on your feet :beer:

I have a small request Emp.: Could you tell us that the text in your post is a message from C3B at the beginning of the post? I get confused for a minute when I begin reading, then have to look at the end to see that it's a message from C3B, not something you're typing.

I finally got this message from C3B today. I said that we probaly will not be able to have a chat tommarow since we will need some time to talk about it. Without further adu, here is the message:

The letter:
*
*To the people of CivFanatics,
After a long time of cooperation, we think that a feeling of diffidence is growing at both our countries and we want to end this. Cooperation between us is possible and will benefit both of us, after all there will be 3 qualified teams from this game. We think that some subjects should be clarified.
Regarding exploration by land, we can not ignore that there is a history behind this subject. The blockage itself was not the problem, but when the second blockage happened we agreed with your president that both warriors would go home, however yours did not go straight home, it was exploring. At many conversations that we had, we asked where he was and each time your ambassador would tell us a location and the number of turns that it would take the warrior to go home, but turns passed and we did not see it. After many turns he came back, but you were exploring, while our warrior was coming straight home without stopping or making curves. We are afraid that you would do the same with other agreements. Additionally, only when our warrior had already lost a lot of time retreating, you decided to restart negotiations which would benefit your warrior and delay our exploring.
When the subject is sea exploration, we proposed an agreement, that you refused it while saying that you would bring another proposal. After that, you accepted our first proposal and agreed to write it down to make official, however at the last chat you refused it because you do not want to explore our coast and said that the deal is unfair. This is the same behavior of the warrior, and it isn't good for any kind of diplomacy in the world.
Those and other diplomatic moves of yours spread a feeling of distrust among our people We really want cooperation, we always discuss agreements at home and try to bring new ones at the chats, but recently you are only refusing them, without proposing others. Some of our citizens start to think that you are only using diplomacy to postpone issues.
Concerning the proposal for land exploring that offended you, we restate that it was just a proposal. You are welcome to make another one. However, when it was said that we expected you to refuse it, it was only because that has become a commom place in our negotiations. We too are a democracy, and we put foward every agreement that our people believe that we should try to deal.
Concerning the DMZ, we are very sorry that you no longer want to implement it. If you want strong arguments, ask Donovan Zoi, he is the creator of the idea, which is great in our opinion. We believe at the creativity of ours and yours governments to come up with other ideas, if you want we may work at this great project.
We think that understanding the other part is important to proceed with negotiations, we are open to new ideas and statements and Civ3 Brasil look forward to continue negotiating with CFC. And please do not interpret this as an accusation, we are trying to clarify our thoughts, so we may cooperate again, we do not want to hide or avoid subjects. We think that C3B and CFC should be friends, trading technologies, making great agreements, fighting together against other countries and having a clear diplomacy. Let´s built a true alliance.
Civ3 Brasil

Comments? I would like to have a meeting with them later this week to respond to the letter. I would really like for our Ministers to come to this one to please give me your times.

I'll probably have time this week.

It really looks like their intentions are true. But I think the biggest overall problem is: the more treaties and negotiations there are, the more disagreements you might get. Therefore: go_back_to_the_base: peace. :rolleyes:

Silver Wolf's English doesn't seem to be too great... an advantage for us? :confused:

Would someone please point out how exactly C3B is militarily superior to us? Looking at the situation I feel that we have more to gain by assuming an aggresive stance against them? I hate to be the warmonger, but it's not like we have lots of room to expand without attackin them eventually. If we pursue this SoZ + swordman plan that seems to be where we are heading, why not attack them? Gaining a few slave workers and cities would put us in the right track imo :)
