Thalmors' units are done, next are ...
either Holds units or Stormcloak ones. We'll see. May from time to time go back to a former "completed" group of units to add some or apply correction on some existing one.

So, took a slight rest for the eyes, piel editing is quite a toll for them :scan:

Cleaned the Working bmp file, integrated sprites for next units, in the way found back a cool wolf ripped by catfish replacing the previous one, replaced the imperial battlemage following public taste.
Then, benefitting from the review of ressources, made up 3 border foreign units.

Enlarged the WorkPicture, prepared material, next to come shall be shared units and/or Hold units.

Subscription post because I'm kicking myself for missing it the first time. :D

Corrected Stormcloak shields while building hold guards.
Won't display their new version in the fantasy unit thread before in the last compilation.
Changing it now in this thread still

temp.png

Placed most cities, missing an Orc remote one and few Barbs. (Grey player as Falmer maybe for futur underground expansion appart from his remote one are destined to barbarian, as well as few Reachmen ones to liberate)

Do you have a second map now? As in, have you started the scenario with two maps selected? If not, I'm uncertain if one can be added later, but it would certainly take her editing at least to pull it off.

Still no second map at the moment.
Changes are limited to .sav files at the moment, with in the end 3 to 6-7 different saves allowing to get back in the project before giving the push and create the .scn file, then only working with events.

My method until now to resume :
1: have the world (even if not perfect) designed
2: Get graphisms
3: Work on .txt files & Build little by little the World in .sav files to refresh mind
4: turn into .scn file.
5: add events / work on balance.

A flow in this method maybe ? Between end of 2 and beginning of 3 at the moment there.

What I'm getting at is that (unless someone knows if it's possible with hex editing--and I'm not sure it is) that you need to commit to how many maps you want NOW as opposed to later. Right now, you've placed cities. This isn't the end of the world to replace them when there aren't that many in this scenario. Once you put all the improvements in, all the units, etc. It's going to be a huge chore.

If you want a subterranean level, I'd do it now. If you don't want a subterranean level, push ever onward.

Wow ! Havn't realised the erase coming with addition of new maps. Much thanks !

If you don't mind me asking, what program are you using to take the map and then edit it into the civ map form?

I'm interested in knowing how you got the grid there too. The map came out gorgeous.

Working on the underground map at the moment, taking more time as documentation & pondering on choices have to be done (havn't played Skyrim intensively for one to few years now, have to get it back on mind)

About the map building,

1. found a map picture.
Ex: For this skyrim scenario, i came to know this wonderfull ressource, https://srmap.uesp.net/ .

2. Save a usable picture out of it.
Ex: From the link above, i zoomed twice, then copy/pasted the screen with paint to build a large detailed enough picture. Once all the map was captured this way, ajusted image size to get ride of unused borders and saved it.

3. Prepare the grid picture.
Ex: Open the map previously saved, paint is enough again, then save it again, let's say under the name "PreviousNameGrid", then Ctrl+A to select all and Ctrl+X to allow begin building the grid (which already have the same dimensions as your saved map above).
You shall have both a "map" picture and a "grid" picture, evenly sized.

4. Build the grid
Ex : Choose the map size. I used the "big size" map with the mapeditor. Sadly didn't manage to have the newer version work to create gigamap with it*.
Anyway, you then have to divide the picture pixel size (x and y) per the number of tiles (X and Y) you have chosen considering the intrication of tiles.
So, if not mistaken, a=2x/X and b=2y/Y gives the size of your grid tile for your map building
There, paint is enough again,
-Either draw a square of the desired size (a and b), build a reproductible tile border in it, then destroy the square. Only tile border is left.
-Either reduce the size of a tile you took from a civ2 file to the wanted size, then keep its borders, destroy the inside, and change its shape to be symetric (thus reproductible). Only tile border is left.
Then, copy/paste following Civ2 tiles intrication, you have two tiles. copy/paste, you have four. copy/paste, eight, copy/paste, sixteen, copy/paste, thirty-two etc... until all grid picture is covered with tiles borders.

5. Build the map
Ex: Paint is still enough, yet I prefer using gimp (similar to paintshoppro if you're some rich taylor) to make changes or correct errors easily.
-With Paint, Just put the grid over the picture using the "invisible pasted font color" and paint little by little your progress in MapEditor.
-With gimp, select the grid picture font per color, make sure your have the transparancy on, then delete the font.
You may then open the two pictures, map first, then grid as "calc" over it ; so you may work with the "grid calc" as you progress in MapEditor.

*As for gigamaps, sadly, i can't manage to build such a .mp file, be it on 16bit, 32bit or 64bit architecture. Can't find a way to have utilities MapEditor and PatchedMapEditor work with custom size nor capture a .mp file from a .sav, not even talking about opening gigamaps.
Shall build such a map directly with a new game in civ2ToTPP, storing it in a .sav file then ?

The 32-bit Civ2map.exe (from MGE) will run fine under 64-bit Windows 7 if it is patched correctly, and I'm able to create a new gigamap with it using the Custom size option. When you say "PatchedMapEditor" what exactly did you mean by "patched"? It's been a long time since I got it working, but I believe this is the patch that worked for me:

Much thanks, tried to use the vanilla versions as well as these :

I'll try to use your tool !
