Hi

I have been trying to complete the sci-fi version of test of time. I have worked my way through the program so that I am able to build the spaceship, but not the Earhgate. One of the Wormhole technologies is unavailable. From my reading of the manual I think it has something to do with the alien species, but I don't know what.

The aliens have the same wormhole technology that I have.

Can anyone tell me how this technological advance becomes available.

Thanks in advance

Jim

Hi and welcome to CFC.

Be sure to download and apply the Civ2 ToT patch v1.1! :yeah:
That one fixes lot´s of problems, especially with the extended game.

Concerning the Sci-Fi game on Lalande, you have to make sure that you have outposts at every of the 4 levels. The last technologies can only be discovered then.
And, as you read in the manual, be sure to NOT wipe out everyone else, especially not the alien civs. Certain key techs can only be acquired by trading.
:D

I see this is your first post, jrhm, so welcome to CFC! I don't know much about ToT scenarios, so I can't help you with that! You might like the GOTM (Game of the Month), located here.

Hope to see you around!

:)

I've got ToT, but I never really got into the Sci-Fi game, like the Fantasy one better:)
And welcome to CFC!

ToT is simply the best version of Civ2 !
that's a pity it have not a lots of scenarios because it have a lots of advantage compare to Civ2 MGE !

Reply to Lucky

I have downloaded the patch and established outposts. I established embassies and checked what technology the other civs had, but none of them had the missing tech. I have stolen or traded for whatever was available.

Any other suggestions?

Jim

Hmm, sorry, haven´t played a long time.

But I do remember something still to happen on Nona. I think you have to destroy one of those HUGE monsters there to get the next or last tech.
Not quite sure.
:D

There are some technologies which cannot be researched, they are triggered by events. These techs are marked in yellow on the poster (if you've got that). Wormhole Genesis requires the defeat of an Urdar, whilst Wormhole Control requires the defeat of a Dondash.

(Long pause while I try to find out what an Urdar and a Dondash might be)

Well an Urdar seems to be some sort of powerful attack/defense unit, dunno about a Dondash.

I might try a sci-fi game in the next few weeks, as this discussion has awakened my interest. I will post here if I find the Dondash.

That´s what I meant.

I think the Dondash was the extremly powerful unit on Nona. Waiting for you on the dark red terrain, whatever that was.
Not sure about the Urdar.
:D

Well I have killed lots of Urdars and Adamastors on Nona, but can't find a Dondash but will keep looking for one.

Jim

A further update, there are no Dondash on Nona, but I think I know why.

Since I am a beginner to this version of civ, I used a world map I had created for civ2 on the four planets. When I quickly cheat through a game in which there are no custom maps, there are plenty of Dondash.

I'm a novice at all Civ 2 T of T with many questions but I'll start with a few: 1) Is construction of the LaLande SS the same as the original SS? 2) Has anyone worked out the best number of SS components? 3) What does it take to get the "energy" component shown on the SS graphic?

The following might give some idea about spaceships. The numbers refer to habitats\life support, drive components, structurals and time in years.

3/16/25 - 9.4
6/16/25 - 12.7
3/16/39 - 5.9
12/16/39 - 11.7

Thanks, jrhm. That helps. I'll be getting back to the scifi game shortly and undoubtedly will have more questions.

In regards to an earlier question, I've only found one of the ancient monstor units on Nona. it takes about a half dozen gryfalcons to take one out.

I can't find the place to get the ToT 1.1 patch. Can Lucky or anyone help out?

Thatll cost me a penny...
And I was searching on YouTube, didnt found nothing...
Thanks for your time
