Test pitboss

I'd just like to make a two-part point:
* You can always be excused for having interpreted what someone wrote any way in which it could reasonably be interpreted (or misinterpreted). However, to balance this,
* You cannot fairly criticise someone for anything other than the intention of their words. I mean, you might criticise their communication skills if that intention is far from what's there, but the blame for communication failures always goes both ways in almost equal parts, and if this was just about communication skills no-one would be quite so worked up about it.

So to apply this, BCLG100's intention was clearly not to suggest breaking deals, so it is unfair to accuse him of such. However, Lord Parkin can be excused for having read it that way.

Lord Parkin's intentions were clearly not to make a genuine accusation of actual deal-breaking against BCLG, merely to make banter in a casual way as a fair response to BCLG's post. Whether it 'was' that in some objective sense is not really relevant, the intentions are what matters and they're quite clear, certainly to me. Maybe it's because I'm form a culturally similar part of the world, but that's just an advantage to me in understanding intentions not a bias. However, similarly, BCLG can be excused for having read it as an accusation and an insult and reacting accordingly.

Here's the conversation we should have had:
BCLG100: Lord Parkin's neighbours are letting the rest of the players down by letting him get too strong.
Lord Parkin: Those neighbours have made deals. Are you suggesting they break them?
BCLG100: I am not suggesting that, and I am offended by your suggestion.
Lord Parkin: I apologise for the offense, it was not my intention.
(end)

There's nothing to be gained by pointing fingers as to who caused the divergence from this line (both parties are always at fault to at least some degree), and plenty to be gained by moving on.

server connection issues? I got the turn flip message from civstats, but can't connect.

dyndns service stopped maybe?

I can't connect to this game either. The other two games hosted by Dave are fine though. I'll let him know via PM.

I can't actually get in because LP decided to contact me with a deal I'd never accept and so I can't get past the diplo screen.

EDIT: So basically, someone please unpause the game so I can play!

Civstats says the timer's negative, but it seems to get confused when the game is paused.
I think it only updates from the game timer every 5-15 minutes, and in the in-between time it just counts down in regular time. That's how it can get confused.

Sorry, although this game has never been paused before so I had no idea offering a trade would cause an issue.

I tried, but Donovan sent a message to me so I'm trapped in diplomacy and can't unpause either.

Fair enough too. I just don't want to be holding up the game any more than I have.

Ah, what luck!

Sirius game is working for me and pindicator. Haven't tried the Test Pitboss game yet. Maybe you should retry it now? Sometimes the game seems to lock me out, then 5 or 10 minutes later it's fine.

Yeah, I managed to play all my turns fine. Must be a local issue on your end.
