Test pitboss

I don't particularly mind, although potentially it could throw balance with ridiculously large tech alliances even further out the window. But it's already fairly far out anyway, so never mind. :)

I tend to agree with LP. The AI block of civs has been out of human control for so long that courting favor with them has become a natural part of the game. The other civ only has 3 cities, so it's up to you to determine how much fun you would get of out of playing.

In response to LP's not-so-veiled lament: Ridiculous situations call for ridiculous measures. :D Sorry the rest of us haven't been as easy to coerce as the first two. Your situation seems far from dire, however, last I checked.

So yeah, 2metraninja, not sure if you want to be in the middle of this one :crazyeye: , though I wouldn't object if you decided to join.

To me it's not so much the civ he chooses as the side he chooses. If he's just going to join your side and make an evil behemoth 7-way tech alliance into an evil behemoth 8-way tech alliance (vs a tiny 3-way tech alliance I might add), I'm not so happy about that. It may as well just be one of you guys taking control of another civ for their tech capabilities for all the difference it would make. If he's going to be impartial or inclined to join the knights of light in the smaller alliance, it'd at least be less unbalanced. :p

I like challenges and getting well out of bad situations, so I will take any civ you point me :)

There is no shame in losing in such a situation. But if I manage to get some success here, it will be greatly rewarding to my competition spirit.

<offtopic> Between the photographers there is a joke, saying that from a gorgeous model everyone can take a nice picture. It shows who is real master to make masterpiece of a portrait from not so beautiful model </offtopic>

So I think you got my point on my desire of joining the game. Awaiting for your decision on this.

I'm all for you joining in principle, but I can't really imagine an AI you could take over which wouldn't disrupt things quite noticably. It's going to be kind of hard for you not to pick a side either, which pretty much guarantees annoying someone.

The best option if you do join would probably be England, since it's been an AI for the least time and kind of had a diplomatic position already. It also certainly fits the bill of being a challenge...

I feel I must make a link for clarity here, for all the lurkers.

The names of the oppressed are Lord Parkin, Elkad and nabaxo. ;)

I agree with Irgy that taking over England would ruffle the least feathers, though I am really curious to see how someone would handle Ethiopia's situation. :mischief:

Watch how that changes within the next few turns, as the evil behemoth alliance catches up. :p

And yes, they are evil. This Donovan chap here just declared war on the weakest civ in the game for his own benefit. Azzaman took the liberty of knocking out the only civ in the game so far. Whereas none of us in the peaceful alliance have ever raised a finger in war against anyone. Decide for yourself who the bullies are. ;)

So basically as I understand it, there are 2 tech/military alliances struggling against each other and are in quite fragile balance and me joining one of them will frustrate the other. I just saw that the game is very advanced times - past 1000AD past which it is normally everyone to have choose side and for the power houses to be clear.

I usually have very weak flock instinct and tend to like to rely on my own mostly. (I am not very experienced pitbosser). But if all of you are so heavily biased already and a lone warrior is not going to have any chance, might be it is not very good idea indeed to join the game at all.

I thought one or two of the players have dropped really soon and it is good to have a replacements exactly to not dis balance the game.

Its up to you guys do I and how I join the game.

If Lord Parkin's happy with you taking over England then you might as well do it. You're unlikely to get away with not picking a side though.

Looks like the struggle for 2metraninja's loyalty has already begun, before he even joins the game :)

You don't really need to war when you start with 3 out of 18 civs on a continent that's 1/4 of the total landmass. Or realistically about 1/3 of the landmass when you take the barbarian spawning unhabitable ice out of the equation.

It looks like the propaganda war has started.

I think I found a solution to the balance issue you are worried about. I will bring another player along with me, so we can either play on our selves, or every one of us will join each tech alliance.

Come on, guys don't be afraid of us - we are just some newbies to pitboss and we want to play, have fun and learn. :)

I suppose it can't hurt any more than things staying the way they are. The 7-player superalliance is going to start running away with the game in a dozen or so turns anyway.

Tried to preload Civ5 off Steam and something whacked my internet connection. :aargh:
I'd like to use a few choice words, but that would not be setting a good example.

The games are now up.

Hi guys. I decided not to try to get in the game anymore. Seems you have a lot of fun and dont want to spoil it.

GL everyone.

Yeah, all of Dave's games are down at the moment. I've PM'd him to let him know.

So what's up with all the requests for free techs lately, Azz? Not doing well enough already with your 6 allies? Hoping to exploit an accidental click? Not exactly sporting...

Same issue. PMing Dave.
