I'm in the process of upgrading mine. Got a state of the art vid card, now I need to get the RAM and processor to go with it. Certainly makes the turns faster.
The new Map will come with 'limited' rules which will limit number of cities and their placement. This will enable player's with slower computers to play on this map - no problem.
I will not make a smaller map. I will however, make 3 versions of this map in light of the fact that some people do not have fast machines.
So that will be 3 maps each with different city limits.
1- 50 cities limit and locations
2- 100 cities limit and locations
3- 150 cities limit and locations
By location I mean that i predetermine where cities can be built. Only one type of terrain enables the building of cities. These measures should enable players to play on this map and mod even on slower systems.
I am working on the map now - its going good and the download will be available tonight.
You're not going to leave the max number of cities in every scenario to be 150 are you? I won't complain if you do, but i like games with at least 300-400 cities. Or were those numbers primarily for the slower machine folks?
Core of the map is complete. However as anyone who has made a world map can tell you, getting the grooves along the coasts, shapes etc just right is rather difficult. Well it is and isn't depends how detailed and precise you want to get it. I am determined to make this map the most accurate of any made before. It is easier since this map is huge 362 by 362 which enables more detailed map to be achieved. The greatest concern was that slower machines would not be able to play on such a large map but this is remedied by limiting city placement and total limit for the map.
I am working on it non-stop so everyonr just hold tight as many of you know I have a problem with being a perfectionist and thus often delays.
No complaints from me. I loved the PtW version of this mod, I'm sure to love this one too. I can wait patiently for perfection. I'm pretty bad at making things perfect myself.
