Text looking weird

Hi everyone!

I've just bought Civilization IV + Beyond the Sword + Warlords on Steam and the text looks scrambled, just like this:



I'm playing with an AMD Radeon HD 7850 card, with updated drivers and Windows 8 64 bit. How do I make the text look normal?

I guess a too new hardware and OS could be the problem here .
I've honestly never seen that problem .

If you changed anything regarding font size in the windows settings, then I'd advice you to reverse that.
In case you're playing on the not-anymore-Metro-surface, then I'd suggest that you switch to the "normal" desktop version and run the game in windowed mode. Maybe it scales then better.

Well, the only thing new about my hardware is the graphics card, everything else is a few years old, and I play/do everything from the regular desktop (not the "Metro" interface). I haven't changed the Windows font settings either, and I did install the extra fonts from the Resource folder.

It's a shame I can't play Civ 4, as I really liked Civ 5 and heard 4 was even better.
