TF2 CFC Highlander-Discussion Thread

If there is room, I'll play. I'm best at Engie and Medic, but will play whatever is needed. My Steam name is "The Assman"

Hmm, this looks so interesting! Unfortunately, I just played once and the result wasn't nice. Because my connection with the American server was plain s***. And now it's playing tricks and saying Steam is not connected.

I'm downloading it now, I'll see how I like it and which class I'm least awful with before I commit to anything.

And everyone sign up for Team Fortress 2 Mafia!

TF2's funny in a way that, if you don't play Sniper, it isn't like any other FPS. After you play it for a while and like it, all other shooter games sound too boring...

First time player? I recommend sniper, pyro, heavy, or soldier. As you play, you will be wrecked by spies with their instant kills. After you develop spy paranoia, switch to spy and try to understand the game from their perspective. Makes spy checking easier.

I can attest to this. Especially if Seon is the spy.

Prepare to die a lot, but that just makes the learning easier, as you get to start over often.

Also, having a bad K/D isn't a bad thing. I normally have a really bad K/D but get high on the Scoreboard because I play Engineer.

Unless you play Heavy all the time, in which case you should probably be getting Kills a lot more often than you get Deaths.

I sniped BSmith who was playing sniper with the Ambassador.

Gotta watch out for those. If you are at the back of the team and sniping people, you should always try to keep your HP above 102. Otherwise, Amby spies can one shot you before you can even react.

Or soldier and demo. Those three classes are about just killing everyone until you die yourself. All the other classes have other things to do.

For more breakdown...

Soldier's Role is to be the main Assault Class, good DPS and splash damage. They can punch through minor defences quickly and easily. Depending on situation or playstyle, they can rain as much damage as possible so scouts can easily take them out, or alternatively focus on certain individual to eliminate.

Demoman are obstacle busters. Tough defences that soldiers can't penetrate, whether that be overhealed heavies, sentries, or the entire enemy team, can be taken out incredibly easily with the demomen(provided enemy aren't idiots who die to ubered heavy push). They, however, depend on team support to be successful as they lack close combat ability. Midrange, they kill everything. Close combat, not so.

Heavies are immovable objects. Probably not the most ideal one to be making a push onto enemy defences (I find that competent demomen are always the best to uber) due to their ridiculously slow size, but they are the best way to defend the damn point if the sentry gets destroyed or enemy light classes are flanking your soldiers/demos. Their minigun chews up everything within seconds at close combat.

Tip for dealing with heavies: kill the freaking medic. Without a medic, heavy's are big fuzzy bears who die within 10 seconds by spam. No, I don't care of the enemy's shooting at you. Shoot the bloody medic.

Close combat, not so.

With the bottle? Maybe. However, if the Demoman is competent and brings a sword*, than the Demoman becomes easily the best meleer in the entire game. Actually, in all, Demoman is a great class in all ranges. If you have even a little skill, you will watch your foes die in a bloody mess.

*Omega does not endorse pure Demoknight builds. Do not use my advise as justification to build one

Stickyjumper knight is obviously the best demo build :p

In seriousness, I use the caber for close combat as demo. If an enemy has gotten so close that I can't hit him with my 'nade launcher, he goes boom anyways.

Depends on how good the enemy team is.

Charging at a good spy with a melee weapon has 75 % chance that you will die through a matador stab.

Great for personal kills, but you do absulotly nothing else for the team. Nothing. Waste of a demo slot

It can disrupt enemies. Demoknight out of nowhere fully replenishing his health on every kill. I probably should have put a :p at the end of my original post.

(And anyways, Ali Baba's Wee Botties look better and were first)

No argument.

It's funny how you get accused of hacking/Facestabbing if you kill the entire enemy team as a spy in Degroot Keep, even when discovered.

So my question to all is... How many of you are aware of advanced backstabbing techniques such as blind stabs, aerial stabs, jump stabs, stair stabs and matador stabs?

Do you take those in account when you chase after spies?

I'm aware of them and I try to deal with them, though I fail a lot when trying to... Doing them myself? Not a chance in hell. :p

Luckily not a lot of spies seem to actually use those, and those that do I don't follow up stairs or chase after. :p

I'd be up for this, my preferred classes are:
Heavy
Soldier
Medic
Engie
Pyro
