An attempt at revenge and Ko Pha Ngan island
It was Sunday, December 8th, 2014 - my last day in Krabi Province.
I woke up just after 7am, showered, got dressed, packed up my bags, quadruple checked my room (as per tradition), and stepped out into the hallway.. then made my way down the stairs. A van was picking me up at 8. I had enough time for a breakfast downstairs.. but first..
I had a plan. And I'm usually a very easy going guy.. calm and relaxed.. and I don't even believe in revenge. But I had enough. The guys that kept me up all night two days ago had to pay.
The plan was to bang on their door and hope that they're too hungover to be able to fight me. I was aware that it was a stupid plan.. and so I stood there in front of their door, wondering what I'm going to do. I had two conflicting ideas in my mind: 1. This is a really stupid idea and there is a probably a very good reason why I usually don't do things like this. and 2. I need to do this to satisfy my newly awakened sense of justice.
And as with any plan worth pursuing, this plan needed a step 2... My brain came up with two options for things to say when that door flung open. One was a sarcastic inquisition regarding a pen and the other one was a raised voice exclaiming: "Good morning, !@#@$".
This was a really stupid plan. But.. When I travel I like to throw myself out out of my element.. in order to improve myself, so that I can lead a better life and be a better person.
So F it, I started banging on that door. I put as much effort as I could into the motion of my right fist hitting the door, with a steady, yet unmistakably mad rhythm. I didn't know what I was going to say. I sort of didn't really care. It didn't matter anymore. I was doing it. I was banging on the door. It felt dangerous, but very satisfying.
And after 15 seconds.. I stopped.
Silence.
Were they even there? I suppose maybe they weren't.. But I distinctly remember thinking that for many reasons they probably still were. Did they drink so much that they were out cold?
I wasn't sure what was going on, but it was time to go. I banged on the door a bit more for good measure, went downstairs, ordered breakfast, and ate.. half waiting for my bus, half expecting two half asleep guys to be walking through that door, in my general direction.. any minute now..
Several people exited, but nobody looked angry. Nothing happened.
The van finally arrived, picked me up, and after making sure to leave a hefty tip with the guest house owner I departed towards the bus station... which turned out to be an incredibly lacking bus station as far as bus stations go... but I did meet someone interesting there: a Ubisoft employee from Germany! We discussed video games, video game creation, and exchanged stories about our trips.
If you're wondering where I was actually headed, it was to the other coast - from the Andaman sea in the west, to the Bay of Thailand in the east:
I was pretty tired for the boat ride over to Ko Pha Ngan island. I ended up alone in a "VIP" cabin upstairs that nobody else wanted to pay for. There were a bunch of Scandinavians sitting in the back initially, and some other people, but when the conductor dude showed up, everyone left. I was comfortable, so I paid and stayed..
In a couple hours we were docking.. I got off the boat, pulled out the name and address of the place I had booked, and tried to find a taxi.
Turns out a guy on a motorcycle was going to be my taxi. He put my large backpack in front, and I sat in the back and held on for dear life. It was awesome and at times terrifying.
I made it to my new room just fine, had a not so great dinner, and crashed hard.
