Thank you.

I'm a happy camper! After extensive testing, I have been able to personally test C4 on a total of 73 different hardware combinations.

The only times I have not been able to get it to work PROPERLY, was because of hardware problems. 1 bad memory stick that works under light usage (no 3D games), and 1 flakey motherboard that works under light usage (no 3D games), both gave me CTDs. I did not test with known bad HDs or bad video, only the known bad hardware mentioned above. There were problems when I did not use recommended RAM for specific model MBs, and there were problems with SOME on-board video. It has been tested on machines that had Duron 1200 w/ 256 and a 64 M video card all the way up to dual Xeon machines w/ 4G, and even a few 64 bit machines. I have tried ATI, and NVidia, el cheapo components, and big brand components.

The slower machines required low settings, and did lag, and did have choppy videos, but they played.

The best playing combination I played with so far was a dual Athlon MP 2800 machine with 2 G and an x800 Pro (AGP 4x on MB).

Yes the game has not been properly optimized, and was released in a poor state. Yes it has pushed some peoples flakey hardware over the limit. I see every reason for consumers to be pissed. I'm not looking to start any flame throwing, I'm just showing my personal experience with the game.

Edited for spelling

Also, have any of those having trouble with the game due to RAM issues considered how much RAM is chewed up by Windows XP? Heck the desktop icons alone absorb quite a large amount of virtual memory. I suggest that people run msconfig, and place the majority of their other programs 'in the background'-this helped me a LOT, not just with Civ4, but with Doom3 too.

Yours,
Aussie_Lurker.

Thanks here as well. Totally love the game all around. :goodjob:

I griped, like many, with the teething probs.

One new system and much technical knowledge (all gained here in the forums!!) later, I'm a happy addicted, red-eyed automaton.

Cheers Sid!

Thanks Firaxis!

Thanks, yàll, awesome game.
i´ve now spent several happy weeks turning into a hermit hardly leaving the house (or my room), spending one half of the day playing the game and the other half lurking cfc :D

sorry to necromance, but I felt that I had to to this to clam all of those people who can't stop complaining.

Thank you for making such a great game which never gets boring.

LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL, get back to work.

Yes, thank y'all. My cats much prefer to sit in my lap whilst I play Civ 4 than to go drag racing with me and my wife doesn't have to worry that I am at the Public Liberry viewing porn on taxpayer dollars.

Wow is it sincere appreciation or abject brown-nosing??

Civ 3 was the only game I ever played until I got Civ 4. Now the only game I play is Civ 4! It is Awsome! Thank You Firaxis! Thank You Sid!:goodjob:

i've played many games, but none other than civ in the las 3 or so. it's civ all the way. i sit filled with anticipation for the expansion Warlords. Great job and thanks to all who have worked on this and all civ projects.

My free time has been enslaved by Civ IV and, worse, when I can't play the game or troll this forum, I'm still thinking about the game. Warlords is only about two months away. I'm doomed....
