I'm a happy camper! After extensive testing, I have been able to personally test C4 on a total of 73 different hardware combinations.
The only times I have not been able to get it to work PROPERLY, was because of hardware problems. 1 bad memory stick that works under light usage (no 3D games), and 1 flakey motherboard that works under light usage (no 3D games), both gave me CTDs. I did not test with known bad HDs or bad video, only the known bad hardware mentioned above. There were problems when I did not use recommended RAM for specific model MBs, and there were problems with SOME on-board video. It has been tested on machines that had Duron 1200 w/ 256 and a 64 M video card all the way up to dual Xeon machines w/ 4G, and even a few 64 bit machines. I have tried ATI, and NVidia, el cheapo components, and big brand components.
The slower machines required low settings, and did lag, and did have choppy videos, but they played.
The best playing combination I played with so far was a dual Athlon MP 2800 machine with 2 G and an x800 Pro (AGP 4x on MB).
Yes the game has not been properly optimized, and was released in a poor state. Yes it has pushed some peoples flakey hardware over the limit. I see every reason for consumers to be pissed. I'm not looking to start any flame throwing, I'm just showing my personal experience with the game.
