Title says it all. The Mod now stands at a more svelt 2.49GB than it did at v34 release at 3.28GB. This current size near matches v28 size.

Those involved in removing duplicate files need to know their efforts are appreciated. And I have not had any MAF's in the last month or so. Or CTD's either. I can go for much much longer periods of play without needing to save. Early v34 I had to save every 2 to 3 turns.

I know some ppl didn't like the Custom Civ trimming, but they are available as Modmods.

So again Thank You C2C Team! :goodjob:

Oh my! That's a wonderful reduction in file size. I'm definitely looking to the release of v35 at the end of the month. Between C2C and the release of Wildstar (MMO by Carbine Studios), I'm sure to have a very well entertained and busy summer. :D

Yes, the reduction in size is very very appreciated! I haven't played in a while but I've read through the forum and what I see here is something I really enjoy reading. You are doing a very good cleanup!

I'll have to throw in thanks more than you're welcome here but I am deeply impressed by many of the overall code improvements and auditing efforts here. I'm off to go throw in a little effort of my own on this to help DH and SO with the dup texts here soon.

Guys its not end with this process
When I end C2C will be smaller then 2GB
(Then Ill start adding new skins and again will be 3Gb :D )

Mind if these new skins (as well as the reskined ethnical groups) are a modmod? I'd play with them most of the time, but for very late game or huge games it would be nice to deactivate them for RAM saving.

I do mod-mod file which disable all skins.

Just change your game option to "single graphics" then, same thing/

I've only used Single unit graphics for ages now. I find the 3 unit to be rather ...umm...cluttered and unneeded.

A special shout out to Sparth on his graphics reworks. :goodjob: Thank you Sparth.

If you do please do it in one of the following ways because just deactivating them dosen't help much.
  • Make it a modmod with it's own fpk or without it's own fpk and loose files.
  • Make it a Module without putting the files into a fpk.
These stop the engine from seeing those files if you don't want them.
I had massive MAF problems in january and simply deactivating did not help much.
Back then the game started to become unstable(MAF's, CTD's) once it used more then 1.9Gb ram.
Removing the additional civs helped a bit but since you started cleaning things have changed alot.
Now it seems to be stable with over 2.4GB ram usage:), this makes me thinking the game reserves memory for textures, models.... or the fpk's are a problem.
We don't have the source for the exe and can't find out what it is doing or change that.

Note taken.
Adding new skins as a modmod its not a big deal. Every set of skins contain only 2 XMLs and fpk with NIF and DDS files.

Also Im little tired of making skins hehe and want to put my energy to other fields in C2C :)

I think we'd still need pretty Wonder Movies for all wonders. Maybe static pictures of the wonder as default and movies as modmod? Having static pictures of even bts Wonder movies would also reduce some seize I think.
And someone wanted to have static "movies" when you build buildings the first time like wall or bathhouse. Personally I don't like that, it only confuses me (for 1 sec or so) which wonder I just built. IMO those pop ups should be unique for wonders/NW/Projects.

1) we do have a modmod of long movies.

2) it is possible to not have the standard Civ IV, Warlords and BtS movies in the mod because it should get them from those folders not ours. That is the way all the other art works.

3) I agree but someone put the movie tag on the building so it shows. It is the movie definition that drives it.

1) I know, but there are still "long" (=non static) movies in the main mod. I suggest to make them ALL static in the main mod and have actual movies (not pictures) only as a mod mod.

2) So... that good, isn't it?

3) I'm not a big fan of to many mod mods, but if we really want that then we probably should make it to one.
