IX. Notes
...Working on a deal with Chamnix and Rik Meleet (through Chamnix - I haven't made contact with him yet) to form an alliance to rid our continent of the despicable Zulus (Classical Hero)

...no screenies this turn.

In all the free time I have waiting for the turn to come back, I made a chart of hours each player has taken for each turn (where I could - not everyone posts every time). If anyone wants to fill in the questionmarks or correct any incorrect numbers, it will give you something to look at while waiting.

I think one turn per day is a little out of reach...

GPS to classical_hero.

Spoiler :
Turn 22 (-2950) – General_W and I agreed to a couple deals – first, we have peace until 1 of us reaches the Middle Ages or cancels with 5 turns warning. Second, I will send him the Wheel and Pottery for Warrior Code and 1 gpt. That is the first bad deal I’ve made in terms of costs, and I’m really not sure why I made it. I think the main reason is that I felt bad for General_W since he hadn’t made any contacts previously, and he was in danger of getting shut out of trades. I try to justify it by saying he would have gotten those techs from someone eventually so I might as well benefit instead, and I think Rik is the strongest player in this game, so helping civs near him can’t be bad, but it was probably just GW’s charm that got him that deal.

General_W sent the tech and gold, so I follow through with my part of the deal. Gbno1fan sent me Iron Working with accept to complete our old deal. I suggested he research Mysticism next, but he never replied so I’m not sure what he decided.

I see 4 sources of iron already – I have 1 next to Tarsal. One is northwest of Classical_hero’s town of Bapedi – he will probably get that one. One is north of classical_hero’s town of Ulundi, but it is too far from his core – I might claim that one. The final visible one is east of Rik.

General_W – I am weak, up Masonry, Alphabet, and Iron Working.
Gbno1fan – I am weak, up Masonry.
Classical_hero – I am weak, up Masonry and Iron Working.
Rik_Meleet – I am strong, up The Wheel, Ceremonial Burial, and Iron Working.

My 3 citizens give 15% of the world’s population – that means there are 20 citizens total. Greece has 3 from F8. Hmm – from F11, Athens is not growing. I thought we taught you better than that gbno1fan!!! Growth is everything. Seoul is size 3. It’s hard to see for sure, but Seoul may not be growing either – is that why azzaman said I would be disappointed? Maybe his capital just grew to size 3, and he let it go into disorder. Babylon is size 1, and Viral Strain (fe3333au’s capital) is size 2. I have very little idea what’s going on. I am second in population per F11.

Classical_hero’s town of Ulundi is still empty – he trusts me that much? I found some silks on the east coast. In the northeast corner there is another source of horses and some nice food for General_W.

The MTDG is on turn 135 and still has a long way to go. At our current pace, this game will reach turn 135 August 20, 2007....

Update - turn 135 in this game has now been delayed until September 10, 2007 (at the current pace). There are more players in this game, but this game doesn't require consultation with teammates, and the MTDG save rarely stops dead for several days at a time (right now is an exception - these are unusual times).

I suppose I can support closing this game.

It has been fun, but I don't think it is going to work with so many players from so many different locations worldwide. The logistics of getting everyone to be able to play quickly (especially since we all have time-consuming RL obligations), have been difficult.

Maybe we should split this group in half… have a Yankee Doodle PBEM game for the Americans, a Down Under game for the Aussies, and if we haven't driven Rik off with our slow play, he could join either one.

Just an idea.
This game has gone waaay too slow.

I for one can promise to take every turn within 24 hours of getting it… and hopefully sooner in most cases.

I have found that I am able to play a turn within 24 hours 95% of the time.

Usually I end up playing it in the middle of the night, so if we do set up a Yankee game, we should put me in the order so that the game gets to me at night. Say between 10 PM and 3 AM Central Time.

For what it's worth, I will have C3C on my new work computer, which, if all goes according to plan, will be set up before the end of June. I will want to do a PBEM once all of that is established. I'd not wait for me, though, as there's no telling if something will delay the schedule.

I wouldn't mind waiting for you Peter!
You were the first person to voice a desire to get into this game!

Maybe we can figgure out how to get a PBEM game that will actually keep moving by the time you're ready to play :D ;)

Speaking of which... Fe... Don't you have the save right now? Are you just holding it till we decide if we're going to keep this pbem on life-support?
