The Age of Civilizations

i was thinking about the cosmetics of civ and suddenly realised that we are missing some of the most breath-taking scenery. where are the canyons, ravines, streams, waterfalls, savannah etc. you could argue that savannah could be plains or ravines or streams are rivers, but i think there should be more distinction between them. would there be any way to do that?

could mountains and ice caps be passable, but only with special units, like mountaineers or even the faithful explorer?

It's already been revealed that three of the six new civs in the Warlords pack are Carthage, Gaul and Vikings.

That's good, Vikings and Carthage are already in 18-civ mod. Now we need 6 more for Warlords.

I like those ideas for scenery. I like the idea of mountains and ice caps being passable with certain promotions like Alpine and Polar. Then those places could be passable.

BTW, does anybody know what porgram I could use to make unit flowcharts, like upgrade paths and etc.

Be sure that vehicals and gunships till can'y cross mountines. Thats unrealistic. Not sure if this has already been mentiond but will there be paratroopers? I was pretty pissed when the game didn't have any.

Yeah, there are 265 basic units. Then, all of those units are flavored or uniqued to a culture group or civilization. There are paratroopers in there.

Do you have a list of the civics yet? For an idea, you should have the option to support or not to support terrorism, and as much as I hate Bush, follow in his path with the war on terror.

I have a list of the civics, I will definetly be revising it later. It's not very good at the moment. I like that supporting terrorism or not, I'll see what I can do with it.

could you try to pay a barbarian city to do something? becoming a part of your civ, attacking a rival civ (terrorism maybe), not attacking you etc etc

New idea. Perhapes sometimes instead of a full blown civil war a city or a small group of cities rebel and become barbarian. You can leave them be or take them back as you see fit. But since there barbarian that also means that other nations can take them to.

Yeah, that is going to be one of the concepts if I can get it to work.

There is a rebellion event as well as Civil War and Revolution. That is how it is going to work at the moment.

You know I don't really expect you to put this in but... I thought it would be cool for a "just for fun" thing would be an ability to go before a virtual senate and give a speech for your government polices and why you declared war on so-and-so. For example,

"Today the German Reich has declared war on the Roman Empire for the better intrest of both are people. The Roman government has become currupt and it's people unsafe. Therefor to protecct them I have invaded their territory and will icorperate ther lands. In this way their people can be protected from the Roman curruptness"

Like I said I don't expect you to put this in but it seems like a fun idea if totaly useless to the game itself.

Yeah I know I just posted that idea for the hell of it. But for a real idea hows about make it so the people in your empire can protest issues to you like "We want so-and-so civic!" or "We want mure money put into research!"

That could be interesting. And perhaps if you don't satisfy their needs, eventually a revolution or revolt (depending on how major the change is) could sprout up.

Did I mention the will of the people and will of the gods? They can do such things in this mod.

would you mind telling me what you mean by a "stack of doom"? i have no idea what it would be

stack of doom is when you pile a bunch of units into a stack and send them to an enemy city, the pile will kill everything because it is nearly inexhaustible

Stack of doom was in Civ 3. You would see stacks of hundreds of units. I want to partially restore this, not to have huge stacks, but have somewhat big ones that could dominate weaker enemies.

First of all, this mod if actually made in its entirety will be the best thing to happen to cIV yet.

I saw this though and thought I should comment - make the US revolters the CSA and New England, as both have a historical basis, and give Canada back to Great Britain(take Scotland off the list). That'd make much more historical sense.

I also question the addition of Zululand and Austrialia over someone more... worthy. I would recommend either Ethiopia(with rebels Eritrea and Somalia), Khymer(rebels Siam and Cambodia) or Polynesia(rebels New Zealand and Hawaii).

Just some thoughts though. Good luck on the Mod.:)

Thanks. I like Canada being a rebel for the USA because of their coloseness to USA.
Zululand is in there because I needed another Africa civilization. Australia to have somebody in that Oceania region. I had Ethiopia in original list of the 6 new civilizations but took them out because of their closeness with Arabia and Egypt. Khmer just didn't cut it and same with Polynesia.
