The AI in my current game(Small contient 6 civ regent) is as stupid as ever!!! Here's a short history:

The american city of washington was founded in 4000 B.C. The american explorer moved out and soon found a hut which gave the americans a settler. As time progressed the americans gain many cities and soon had the most powerful nation alive. Then the evil aztezs declared war on america. They bought alliances with england, russia, and france. America was quickly pushed down to a defense only poistion. As time pogressed the americans lost more and more cities till finally they were down to 3 remaining cities. Germany came to america to trade techs and soon the americans found an alliance with the germans. The next year both england and france came to america offering large amounts of gold. The wise american leaders asked for their cities back + the extra gold. The Englsih and french both agreed and soon russia came with the same proposal. After that america quickly re-took the american cities that the aztecs had captured. With the help of germany america crushed the aztecs. As time progrossed america and germanny signed a mutual protection pact. And many year later england declared war on the germans. At first nothing happened, but then england got an alliance with the french. The french moved in on america and took many american cities. With the american army crushed and very few cities left the americans asked for a peace treaty with the french. The french not only wanted the peace treaty, but also offered to give the americans all of their cities(but their capital of course).

Have you ever heard of an AI doing that not only once but twice!!?

I know.... I've seen some smart AI's and some really stupid AI's.... Unluckily I've seen more annoying AI's than anything.

That kind of illogical stupidity can be very annoying. But that is this AI for you. What can you say about an AI that when I have a tech deal good to go and then throw in as a free bonus six resources the AI insults me and cancels the deal? :crazyeye:

I know; often the AI will ask for peace after a sucessful war and offer some gold. I demand as many cities as I can get, but If i offer them even 2 gold they "will probably be insulted by this deal."

I wonder what the AI's IQ rating would be ;)

reagent I think

Chris: it doesn't matter what level. At a certain point the AI will not take per turn - period! Even if taking the deal without the per turn part was OK, it will not take it with it. That is because they didn't put a 'zero' value, but a 'no' value on it. Bad programming, that's all!

In my years of gaming, I've read so many posts about player complaining about the AI, I am still surprised by people reaction or comments.

"The AI is too tough" , "The AI is too easy" , " The AI did this, what was he thinking " , etc ...

My point here, is that games AI are not AI: Artificial Intelligence. They don't think, react would be a more appropriate term. They evaluate the environment (i.e. the current state of the game) and react to it. The quality of a game AI is then directly proportional to how accurate the AI model evaluate the state of the game and what decision it is supposed to make for each criteria.

Which brings me to this, does anyone knows how the AI for this game was made, and can you edit it ?

cycle: your comment will go to the FAQ thread right away - thanx for putting my (our) thought into so eloquent words!
