I love this show. Pairs of people who are related in some way (husband-wife, siblings, friends, lovers) race against each other in a great scavenger hunt. They circumnavigate the globe over the course of the show, traveling to over a dozen nations and experiencing some of the local tourist traps in the form of challenges. Completing a challenge is essentially the same as collecting something for a scavenger hunt.

The challenges vary f/ "Survivor"-esque games to bungee jumping to trying to sell something in a crowded marketplace.

The winning team gets $1M.

By comparison, a show like Survivor is slow-paced and monotonous. Eco-Challenge is similar, and also a great show, but it doesn't offer participants the chance to see the world the way the Amazing Race does...

I think it's the best of the reality shows.

A friend at work was going to try out for that show with his daughter, but for some reason decided not to. I've never seen the show myself, but when he first mentioned and describe it, I thought he was talking about Eco-Challenge.

I guess Eco-Challenge is more localized, not a tour the globe kind of thing. It also sounds like Eco-Challenge is more physically demanding, but maybe less culturally challenging.

Ok, you've got me interested ... I'll check out the Amazing Race some day.
