The Ancient Mediterranean MOD (TAM)

Both of you: which version are you using, and are you using PtW or CIV3?

I'm playing PTW with the 1.14 patch.
What version of TAM it is I'm not sure. It was included on the disk and released here in Australia in February after many release delays.
I've tried looking for a version No but couldn't find any.

Thanks Thamis :goodjob:

I've just been to CDG and noticed that the full mod file is 21MB and I only currently have a 28kpbs modem and it takes 40 mins to download 1 MB.
If I downloaded the fix for PTW 1.14f which is only 100Kb will that fix the bugs?

No, I'm sorry, it won't. The version that came with the game is missing a LOT. The shipped version is 1.0, and we're now at 1.4, so you can see a lot has happened in between. What might work is downloading the updarte from 1.3c to 1.4b and NOT installing it into the SCENARIOS folder, but to some other folder. Then, copy the TEXT folder (except for the LABELS.TXT file!) into your SCENARIOS\ANCIENT MEDITERRANEAN\TEXT folder. Now you should be able to play the TAM 1.0 version without any crashes...

Anyway, that's just a really basic fix... I suggest you ask a friend to download the full version and put in on CD for you, if you can.

Ok I'll download the full version then.
Thanks for your help.

There were an Iberian leader called Viriato, in Spanish, who was murdered by order of Caesar, because he was still fighting against Rome.
He was killed by one of his men, bribed by the romans (well, in fact, he was never paid, when he went to take his money Caesar said "Rome doesn´t pay traitors")
I think his name in Latin could have been Viriatus, I am not sure
I hope this will help you.

Hey
there was a Roman rebel who led the Iberians against Rome and won many battles before tasting defeat at the hands of Mettellus Pius and Pompey.
His name was Quintus Sertorius. there is a picture of him on page 592 of Fortune's Favorites by Colleen McCullough.
And have you considered the Arabs? Their rise came a little later but I do believe they were always there Otter
That's all correct, but it wasn't the Iberians, it was Lusitanians. Their territory was todays centre and North and the Spanish province of Extremadura.

How come? Because of 1.21f? There is a labels-1.14f.txt file in the distribution. You can also download the 1.14f fix and just overwrite the files.

I've got exams. :goodjob:

Thamis, GREAT mod! I have been playing version 1.4, and was wondering if I need to download the full 1.5 or if there is a patch to bring me up to speed?

Not a problem, once I am through with the game I am playing now (love the multiple map sizes), I will DL the new version.:D

Great mod, really like it! But 1.5 causes big problems for me (PTW 1.21f on a Win98 machine). It corrupted Civ3 to the point where I had to reinstall everything from scratch (a normal game wouldn't work, either).

When I started 1.5, the civ selection screen was really fouled up. The text under the leaderheads appeared to be incomplete or missing entirely, some leaderhead graphics didn't load, etc. Once in the game, I noticed that the encyclopedia entries were a mess (as though they had been passed through a script to make them nonsensical - this doesn't look like the fault of the modder, unless the modder has gone insane ;)). About two turns into the game I experiecnced a hard crash and had to cycle my computer's power.

After re-starting Civ3, my main menu was "re-wired" (i.e. "load game" was instead bringing up the "new game" menu, etc.) and included an odd looking last option, something that appeared to be a reference to a save game but struck me as oddly virus-like. After a reinstall of PTW didn't fix the problem, I uninstalled both Civ3 and PTW and made a fresh install. Then I reloaded 1.4 and have resumed having fun again.

Anyway, I thought I should report my experience, although I've not seen anyone else complain about this yet.

Thanks for the great work on the mod! It's been my most satisfying strategy experience in a long time.
